Awesome update Stephen. The staining on the Cabin looks amazing! The house is really coming along. You'll have done an exceptional job raising this Cabin. It's a fine home. The Pigs have really grown. The work seems endless but it will all get done in time. Blessings!
The house is looking absolutely beautiful. The closer you get to finishing it, the more I wonder how you can make any improvements. Fantastic job Stephen and I pray you all have a long and happy future on the homestead
Your place is looking so good. People that don’t have land most have no idea just how much work is involved. That’s with a place that’s already built let alone building it. You guys have a slice of heaven, don’t forget to enjoy the journey.
What a great cabin and homestead! I know how it is not having enough time in the day, not including the weather. Staining is a pain but worth it in the end!
Looks awesome, you all are doing a fantastic job. Yep, make a list and prioritize most important to least and then work on them. Keep up the great work...stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep warm and dry.
Stop and smile a big smile and be proud of yourself for every little milestone you finish. And take a good break to enjoy it. You are doing great! Love the color of the walls. Smart way of staining them.
There is always something that needs to be done on any farm, plus you're trying to finish building your home. That's life. Enjoy the journey, some day you'll be old and you'll be looking for something to keep you busy. Thank you so much for taking the extra time to record and share your life with us.
April, say hi to the camera when you can, part of the interest is the family dynamic of these types of channels. Don't need to get personal, just say hi and offer your thoughts. Amazing place. So glad to see that you not using or limiting any Drywall in this home.
I don't usually comment on videos but I'm impressed with the cabin build HRH. The fascinating thing about it is the size of the cabin. You've done almost all the work yourself and wow, what craftsmanship. I'd love to see it in person to get the full size of it. Everything looks smaller on video.
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177If you get a chance check out Nik Rijavec on RUclips. His cabin is huge you can tell by the size of the logs, but doesn't look big at all on video. That's just so weird to me.😁
@@richardtaylor6300 I’ve watched his build from the start. His cabin would almost fit into my living room. Lol. He is very creative in the way he goes about doing things. His construction method takes more talent than mine.
Hi Steve, looking great so bloody envious, I keep looking but you haven't shown us the Moonshine proving room, thought you guy's were all heavy drinkers all of you having your own stills and such. Great vid thanks.
It’s a shame there isn’t a big window in the kitchen…in my opinion every home kitchen needs a window…apart from that the house looks amazing can’t wait to see the finish….
Hi the Homestead is looking fantastic love the staying another step forward closer to moving in love your videos keep up the hard work cliff from the big island Australia
Meticulous to detail ... that's what makes your entire place look so fantastic. We love your posts and look forward to move in day. QUESTION:. Are the goats a revenue producing venture?
Looks great Stephen. I've surely enjoyed watching the build. It's getting closer and closer to move in day. Hope you and your family had a Happy Easter.
Steven: If possible do NOT secure a "Smart Meter" to the house. While trenching do a trench and utilize double aught wire from a pole to the house. Just ask those in what used to be "Paradise" California. With a surge a Smart Meter can and does cause fires. Even if the breaker box is house mounted, the Meter needs to be 20' from the building, at least, hopefully with surge protectors in line. Just saying. . . . . . B BIG Time Blessed Brother, You and Yours. . . Hay April. . . . .
Gloss clear coat would be a good choice for wet rooms (Bathroom, laundry) - for better lighting and bead off water from walls. Have you experienced any stain or clear hovering in the air of a small space only to settle and dull the work done? Have you installed your bath vents? (JF)
God bless you and your family. Got a lot on your shoulders. Just do what you need to do first. Then do second. Step back from building to focus on your responsibilities
Looks like you need to build you a big hat rack for all the different hats you wear while building y'alls Homestead! Good call on the gloss finish, it would be too much! What size tip were you spraying with for stain and finish?! Fans are real nice! A lot to do!!! 👌
Thank you . The tip I used for the stain was a standard 411. I changed to a RAC X 410 on the clear. Hindsight being what it is, I should have used the 410 on the stain too. It would have really helped.
The cabin looks and feels wonderful you’ve done a excellent job but i will say this out where i am there has been no rain , plenty of wind and fires. Just think it could be worse where you are.
👍👍 you've done a beautiful job. But as you know, you're never done. There's always something else that has to be done. But the manse has come along beautifully. (I say manse because it is so B I G!)
You've come a long way and it's looking great. Just out of curiosity, I know you will be building a stone fireplace, but what have you decided to do with the gable ends? I remember you saying you were going to get a contractor to do those as they were so high. Goodness knows you have fallen enough times from high up!! At least you are inside now out of the weather. It can't make it's mind up here in the UK either!!
Man I missed your more frequent vids. I know life is hectic & you have a lot of other stuff going on. What is your timeframe for moving in? Please Christmas maybe? Thanks Stephen Bless you & family! Glad all y'all are well.
Major accomplishments being completed. And looking very good. Be proud of your efforts and time spent building a lovely home.

Getting all the staining done had to be a major milestone! It looks great! Love the ceiling fans!
Cabin is looking great ! The stone fireplace will be the cherry on top !
The fans are beautiful and enhance the stained wood walls. The progress is exciting.

Yeah everything hit at same time but you got a lot done and looks great.
Running a farm is no joke, and building a house on top of that, with a December deadline!! Take care of yourself!

All they have here are smart meters but the meter is 100 feet from the house.
It looks great. I reckon the gloss would look okay on the logs.
I still haven’t decided on that yet. I have plenty of time to decide. Lol
You are doing such a great job. There are always little hitches everyone comes against, but you are doing awesome.

Bath vents are installed. The satin clear coat leaves the walls really smooth, just not shiny.
Are you going to build a rock fireplace 🔥 and chimney on the house ? I saw a spot on the Big living room wall that looked like you left it unstained.
That’s exactly where it goes. The overall width will be about 11 feet wide all the way up.
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 Awesome that’s gonna be beautiful! 😁👍

I always wanted to put a full basement with an escape tunnel on a cabin. When I get the money in doing it
I was going to do a full basement in the beginning but that was going to put me over 11,000 square feet. I’m glad I didn’t. Lol

I never really complain about the rain. I always remember that come summer we will be begging for rain.
Stone on some walls in the living room would be pretty
There will be a stone covered fireplace that is 12 feet wide from floor to ceiling in the living room.

What type of spraying system did you use to spray the stain. Can you tell me the brand of everything used.
The stain and clear was from sashco. The color is Honey Pine and satin clear coat. The sprayer is a Graco x7
When will you be putting in the Windows

What are you going to do to finish the gable end??
Board and batten on the outside.
You should of worn a mask while spraying.😱
I did most of the time while in the rooms.
Marketplace, sell it..
That’s an option
