Wow! Lovely!! And Big Time Progress once more!! By the way, I have been watching you a long time - even since you visited & helped out Bobblehead Homestead. My goodness, if you get frustrated, down or upset EVER just look at what you have already accomplished - and you are so close to the finishing line, even now. You got land, cleared it, built a beautiful large homestead, an entire farm actually; created working outbuildings, got your stock; designed & created your beautiful "forever" log cabin home; got married, created a family from nothing; and now you are entering the home stretch. WELL, WELL DONE! Unless I missed it, please put up the stair railings, stay off the roof, stop falling off stuff, and ENJOY the works of your labor you so very much deserve. Blessings from "occupied" California!!! k-
Yea .just what she said. Here in New Zealand, I grew up in a House, called a Lockwood..The inside was floor and roof just what you are doing. It Scared me. At night it creaked and cracked. And I looked at the knots ,they had eyes, and faces. Cracked. And cracked.. That House is just up the hill from me now. I remember. I miss. What I'm saying. Is it's your heart. Thanks for sharing. And Teach some..XOXO
Wow! What a difference the stair railing makes! It is a work of art to me. I could watch you build all day. Your family is fortunate to have you to provide such a beautiful home for them by your own hands! How proud it must make you feel. Hope you can make it by Christmas!
Beautiful railing! You should be so proud of yourself. You are extremely talented, and I have really enjoyed the journey thus far. Can't wait to see the finished job and you moved in. Melaney from SoCal
Definitely looks good with the freshly stained wood! You're moving at a good pace, y'all have a good chance to make it in by Christmas!?! Also looks like everyone is happy to do their part. Heck, even George, looks happy!!! 😉
Love your weathered wood finish. A house with that much wood does need variation. I've seen plenty that don't have any & they're blah. In 1997-ish I tackled refinishing 1950s era knotty pine paneling that varnish had turned deep golden color. After sanding cabinets & walls down I put on a white stain that is almost invisible, before coating with Delft poly that hasn't yellowed in 25 yrs. Huge job that turned out to be worth the effort because I found the right product. In 1997 there weren't thousands of reviews to read online. Not one regret for saving custom built cabinets that are now around 70 yrs old.
The stain color is perfect with the other woods. I love the idea of the blocks to shade the lights. Your attention to detail always makes each project that much better!
With each added touch, this house just becomes more and more gorgeous! Those light cover blocks are a brilliant decorative detail. I am glad you are pleased with the stain/finish and will not have to redo your hard work! Whew! I know you would have done it, though. You take great pride in your work and want everything to be done to exacting perfection. This house will be a show piece, for sure!
Good morning ☀️ Stephen The railings turned out great! I’m looking forward to the next video. We processed 8 turkeys and 3 chickens with only 3 people. It was a back breaker….those suckers are heavy!!!
Your house is so beautiful! The railing looks great and will prevent a dangerous fall from now on. I was scared of the decision to go grey but it turned out beautiful! I just can't wait for the fireplace to go in!
You've come a long way! Stain is great looking...love the railings on the balcony.. lights really set it off . Yall have a great week yourselves. Be careful, enjoy. All my best.
I love the stair railing and banister. It's so pretty! The gray makes a nice contrast. Hope you can be in the house by Christmas. What a gift that would be. Everyone will love having all that space compared to the RV. Aprils youngest daughter is definitely her mini-me. They seem to be really enjoying the farm life.❤
The railing looks good. The contrast in grey vs light wood is sharp. The light cover was a great idea. As for the stair lighting, you might want to put the lights on before drilling the holes. I think you'll find that 2 lights on every step will be way too bright. So much better to tape the lights to the risers and check at night before drilling all those holes. Looking forward to the next project on your list.
It’s hard to tell on camera with shadows and stuff, but your original post didn’t look much different than the next one you did. I like the “weathered” look against the backdrop of your tongue and groove, and I LOVE the 3D look of your railings from the main living area ( vs. the flat side as your inside the stairs or upstairs balcony). Those blocks for the top of lights are genius!!! It’s getting so close, I bet you guys can “taste” it Thanks for sharing ❤️
Absolutely love the light weathered Grey look Stephen. Gives a really nice contrast to the rest of the wood. Love the lights too..great for safety and looks. What were those britches that young girl was wearing. The bottoms of the pant legs looked like she's becoming a 70's hippy 😄.stylish young lady. Have a great week yall and good luck with the weather. We're suppose to get lots if rain tomorrow here in western NC .just one day so not bad.
Looks Awesome Stephen , loving the railings . And the lighting OMG your a genius. The girls are gonna love it at night ! The safety element alone is worth the extra time you took to do that lighting is worth the $$. Another interesting use for ZIP tape lol
Wow the railing looks fantastic I really like the colour just breaks up the room keep up the hard work love your videos Cliff from Logan city Queensland Australia
Hi Stephen, Stair railings look great w/ the 10 to 1 dilution! Your attention to detail will make a beautiful home. God bless and take care from California.
Wow, The stain is beautiful with the other light wood. Like the look of the railings also. Your Tom turkey is so pretty. That is amazing how the sun changes the color. You are a perfectionist and your home is going to show this. Beautiful! This looks so good. The staining should go fast ... yes, you will make it,
It looks great my friend…for a one man team you sure are moving at a much faster pace now….this cabin/ house is not going nowhere soon the build quality is definitely A grade…can’t wait to see it finished and watch other projects on the homestead in the future….

Looks Very nice! I have been in your situation, and every time I walked by the issue, it would eat at me to no end. Finally, I gave in and redid the mistake. Keep em coming...
Looks awesome Stephen I think you may make it if the H V A C is installed it may be a bit of an inconvenience but I think I would get out of cramped quarters and move in and work around things. I know editing takes a lot of time but I would have watched you work on the truck I haven't forgotten the motor you got stashed I no the house is definitely priority but I'm waiting to watch the next chapter. HA. HA. L O L. O ya are you going to put some kinda cap on the railing post.
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 I was just wondering thay do look just fine like thay are. When all is done and you are ready to get started what are you going to put the motor in a truck or car?
Everything looks great. I know you are glad that most of your material cost were done before the current inflation prices. Are your big windows going to be custom pieces? Finishing touches on a build seem to take a long time to button up things.

I really like the contrast of grey on the railing, it finishes everything perfect, well done.
Thank you. It needed a different color
That is a dream house that anyone would be proud of! I'm jealous.
