@@VikingZeroReviews Don't do it until you get to a real command but I just talk to them like anyone else and say hey man or hey boss, hey dude...even if they're a second class.
Yes, you get different stuff at different commands. Especially if you're a different unit type like harbor, which of course will have a floating bulletproof vest versus a regular one. There's also a level of customization each command allows. But that's for your uniform, never any weapons. Expeditionary units get deployed, and shipboard MAs go underway/on deployment with the rest of the ship. Regular MAs that are attached to bases just stay attached to the base until their time is up and they go onto the next command.
@@HaedenBeckI am really interested in expeditionary groups and ship aboard for the fact of deployment. What are the chances of me actually getting that billet out of A school to do such jobs. I want the action I want to get as much as I can out of MA.
@@rykerbutts8444 If you choose a ship you'll probably get hard copy orders right away since a lot of people try to avoid ships for some reason...after joining the NAVY. Nope, the weapons are checked out and checked back into the armory every day. Also when you qualify on the weapons, you qualify on the weapons with no attachments. So if you qualify on iron sights and then add all kinds of call of duty attachments you're no longer using the weapon system the navy qualified you on.
Too bad they don't give you the same authority as the civilian police officers on the Naval bases. That way you be able to do a little bit more, but I get it, the Navy doesn't want that. They should be sending you guys down to the federal law enforcement Training Center like they do the civilian federal police for the Navy... instead of Lackland. A Navy Captain in DC told a reporter last year they have a lot more powers than MA's. She was saying things like they can pursue people off the installation, make arrests off the installation and they have the authority to do that even though the Navy doesn't like it. They should train you like they do them....
It complicates things that MAs are in foreign countries. We wouldn't want German police forces driving crazy and chasing after people in Los Angeles, so I'm not surprised that in most cases we're not allowed to do that in their countries. We have full authority on the base and with the assimilative crimes act the local laws merge with ours so we don't have to completely rewrite the law every place we go. How MAs perform drastically changes at every command and every type of command, and even how each individual is qualified. I wouldn't want to generalize it too much.
No, no tasers. Rumor has it we used to carry them but bored MAs would tase each other on post, so everyone lost them. OC spray is worse than being tased anyways. I believe the same may be true with marine MPs, but I don't know for sure.
Oh gotcha and 2 more questions for you lol. I actually got a job offer for the civilian police for the navy and wondering if you know if they carry tasers as well and if they can use their own vest/plate carriers. And my other question was I’ve seen MAs have police on their vest but also security forces on their vest and same with the civilians so is there a difference in their job?
@@dylanlikesfood civilian police for the navy, like in a contractor role? I've heard of them but never seen any, unless instructors count. I can't speak on them at all. yeah some MAs have POLICE others Security Forces, it's no different, it just varies from command to command. They fill the same roles. I would assume POLICE ones are more likely to show up at LE commands where a more traditional police function is served versus like here in Bahrain which is antiterrorism/force protection.
@@HaedenBeck yeah contractor role. Should be starting between gs7 or 8. I’ve just been looking at navy videos to try to get an understanding on yall work and rank structure. @@dylanlikesfood Generally speaking it seems like its better to be a contractor than active duty military. I don't know if that's true, but that's how it seems. You won't have trouble with our ranks and rates for more than a month. Best of luck, hope it works out.
In my Case I finished 2 and a half years in Nursing School in my College, what MOS I am qualify and What Rank? Could they consider my College credit? Planning to join Navy Reserve or active whats best? By the way Im 35 yrs old I Hope Age is Ok.. thanks
See the getting promoted before boot camp video, your college credits will probably start you at E-2. Active vs. reserve is a personal decision but active was best for me. Max age is 41 so you'll be fine on age as long as you can run a mile and a half and do 30 pushups in a row.
Can a E1 to E3 be an MA. I was told you had to be an E4 and above to be an MA. I am hearing from people now being an MA is not precluded by rank. My understanding was you had to be an E4 because they did no want non petty officers stopping petty officers. They also wanted people to know about the Navy first.
So before 9/11 the MA rating was very small and was only E-5s and above. After the attacks the rating was opened up to all ranks/rates and people from other ratings transferred over. For this reason, a lot of MA officers were not only enlisted but also another rating originally like Signalman. Nowadays you can join the navy to be an MASR (E-1 MA). That's what I did. As for lower ranks stopping higher ranks, it's no factor. An E-1 MA can stop an officer. Nobody outranks the law, nobody outranks the authority of the commanding officer and the grunts who enforce their directives. There have been MAs who have stopped the CO from entering their own base.
@@tjmorrs982 U.S. sailors in Bahrain are there on work visas, like temporary stays. You can't live there permanently, and I wouldn't want to to be honest. There's a ton of overseas assignments for MAs. Italy, Poland, Spain, South Korea, Romania, it goes on and on.

@@rykerbutts8444 If you choose a ship you'll probably get hard copy orders right away since a lot of people try to avoid ships for some reason...after joining the NAVY. Expeditionary would be harder to get. Regardless of where you go there's always a chance of some "action" happening but I pray it doesn't happen because it means people are being hurt or killed and terrible things are happening.
@@HaedenBeckthanks man. I appreciate it. Being on a ship. You’ll hit a port and get deployed there is what I’m guessing?
Yo are you allowed to modify your duty weapons?
Nope, the weapons are checked out and checked back into the armory every day. Also when you qualify on the weapons, you qualify on the weapons with no attachments. So if you qualify on iron sights and then add all kinds of call of duty attachments you're no longer using the weapon system the navy qualified you on.
@ Oh right on, that makes a lot of sense then... Guess I’ll have to practice getting proficient with irons at the range in the meantime! Thanks dude 🤙
Are you only allowed to wear the vest off duty
You're only supposed to wear it on duty and when duty ends believe me you wanna rip that thing off and free your spine.
Do you guys not carry tasers? I was an MP in the army and we had tasers
I was never good at looking at your guy’s ranks finding out your titles lol. But being an MP and also worked for a civilian department I’m sure the MA structure is no different
@@dylanlikesfood Generally speaking it seems like its better to be a contractor than active duty military. I don't know if that's true, but that's how it seems. You won't have trouble with our ranks and rates for more than a month. Best of luck, hope it works out.
Do you know the brand of vest that you use as an MA
Unfortunately the tag in my vest has been washed out and torn off by laundry cycles.
Who makes the vest
The tag inside of it was washed out a looong time ago. But it was some US-based company I'm sure, since the law makes that mandatory.
@@HaedenBeck Thanks for answering that question. There are a lot of opportunities now for todays young. Good luck in your rating.👍
@@Black_Cats_Of_War Thanks! Take care
Did you get the M9 or M18 in Bahrain
M18
@@HaedenBeck can you carry off duty?
@@tjmorrs982 No, not in Bahrain.
@@HaedenBeck 2 more questions...can you permanently live there? and do you know any more overseas stations for MA?
@@tjmorrs982 U.S. sailors in Bahrain are there on work visas, like temporary stays. You can't live there permanently, and I wouldn't want to to be honest. There's a ton of overseas assignments for MAs. Italy, Poland, Spain, South Korea, Romania, it goes on and on.
Do you get ear protection?
For range days, yes, but for regular days at work no I never wore or was issued any
@@HaedenBeck but if issued firearms and use it while working be very loud and hurt ears
@@MbisonBalrog The only time we'd fire the weapons is if something very very serious is happening where deadly force is justified. That'll never happen in most people's careers even after 20 years and if it DOES happen you'll wish it never did.
Squared away!
W-a-a-y too much camera (your cell phone?) movement! Difficult to watch.
Back in the day "rate" was your speciality where "rating" was your pay grade (e.g., your 3rd Class PO / E-4)
This is the way it's always been but people have been saying rank for rate and rate for rating for decades.
it's really cool seeing future MAs in the comments, see y'all in bootcamp/A-School? 🥲
gay police 👎🏿
Sounds like you like dookie love🥴
What score do i need for this Job?
I believe it's word knowledge and arithmetic reasoning adding up to 98 on the ASVAB.
