Best of luck to both of you for this new journey. Even though small, Mauritius still provides you with the best options in the world. As a Mauritian and currently living abroad, I can say the education and cultural fabric provide a very good ground to excel in whatever field you put your mind into.
Nice. Enjoy guys. I love Mauritius too. Side note for 09:35. Everytime I see white South Africans assimilating to a new country, learning their language or culture, I can't help but think how far SA would be, if their forefathers came to Africa with the same attitude! Or even if they adopted that attitude now, to SA.😉
@@RolfeInternational Thank you for your effort in making these videos. What about retiring in Mauritius. We are German couple with Indian roots would like to spent our life after retirement in Mauritius. Is it true after 50 years age that relocation is possible? Thank you
We thinking about a move seriously.. We don't want to be in SA anymore. It's not a country we see our future in anymore. Lots of uncertainty and instability and not forgetting the crime and many many other factors. My wife for the first time said to me it's not a nice country to live in anymore and it got thinking alot!
Im also watching this after all the horrible looting, violence, theft, and disaster going on in SA. It is heart breaking. How does one move to Mauritius... it must be super expensive to live there?
Ok. To be honest and serious here. Mauritius cannot by a huge stretch of the imagination be COMPARED to South-Africa. South-Africa is basically a failed state because of incompetence crime and corruption. But it's left right there. Just to start of with. ALL OF THE ROADS on the island (yes it's an island) is about 1/4 of Cape Town which is just ONE city with less than 8% of South-Africa population. Cape Town by itself is a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the COUNTRY (the land of) South-Africa. The possibilities in South-Africa is endless. Not just because of land. It is immesuarably diverse. On a massive scale. And if you want to talk about the developness and lifestyle possibilites that an african country can offer to the top 1 million or top 10 million people in an african country . . . What country can hold a candle with South-Africa?? Making such comparisons is rather a joke. In my honest opinion the "lifestyle" is quite exagerrated in Maurituis in this video and the things that you can do as if they could'nt possibly have it in SA. Over a few months when things really start to get boring (or even weeks) . . . They'll simply go to South-Africa (which is noted in this video not to be so far away.) How ironic.
The problem is not about where to live. The points made in the video gave a rather erroneous and unbalanced realistic expectation of Mauritius vs South-Africa. It is to the choice and right of any person to bring up their children in an environment that is most desired and best for their childrens' upbringing. I am situated in the Western Cape if it does count by the way. But that was not the point of my response. You created a dreamly picture of Mauritius. I would hope for you to produce follow up content in which you share all the realities also relocating to an island. Most people would be used to living in a country 10 times, 50 times, 100 times larger. With such diffences comes enormous limitations. I have noted for example in the comments on the costs of land availablity or acquiring of it and also purchasing property (a home/flat etc.) Everything is constrained when 1 million+ people find theirselves on an island and the government has a limitation on EVERYTHING.
@@jasonjumat5070 I am a Mauritian and I couldn't agree more with what you said. I couldn't wait to get the heck off that Island. I now live in the Western-Cape and am far happier. South-Africa has so much more to offer.

I don't know, I mean, Mauritius actively discourage citizenship by naturalization, though it is possible, if you do decide to go ahead with it it still would never be the same as being a citizen by birth. That can be a deciding factor to many people.
@@RolfeInternational That is as I initially understand it, I may have to do some more research on it. It is actually the first time I'm looking at Mauritius.
Yes, quite a lot more can be done in order to dynamise the South Africa-Mauritius relationship. Post-Covid obviously. A vibrant two-way tourism sector can be developed. Joint business ventures. Collaborating in the medical fields including R&D, upgrading medical facilities/hospitals, vaccines manufacturing and other innovations. Joint ventures SA/MU in countries like Madagascar. Basically, making life as enjoyable as possible for the inhabitants of the Southern Indian Ocean region and South Africa.
@@RolfeInternational Its very hard to own a nice house in Mauritius if you are only allowed to look at specific spots. You get a 40 m2 flat for about 3 million rand. While you can buy lots of decent houses on local market, if they had to ease regulations your investment could really sink because they controle the supply based on demand right? What is your take on that?
@Fish Enthusiast I’m surprised that there are any impoverished people living in inferior housing because Mauritius is a very wealthy country because it attracts wealthy foreigners. Perhaps some of the wealthy foreigners should help those impoverished Mauritius citizens by refurbishing their houses.
@@moa3008 I am Mauritian my father worked hard to help me get a good education, and I've seen many Mauritians get out of poverty, not by getting manna from heaven but by being serious in their quest for progress, said progress happened gradually over many generations. Now If some Mauritians didn't value hard work and wanted instant gratification, and spent their time partying, living day to day, with zero vision for the future that's not anyone's fault but their own. As for Danish people they might be rich, but I wouldn't be surprised if many of them suffer from depression. And please stop trying to make wealthy foreigners feel guilty.
