We South Africans are far more immersed in America's culture than America is in any culture other than their own, and it's very sad to see South Africans look up to a Eurocentric nation as the "gold standard" of culture when their own is so rich and beautiful.
We can be consumers of Hollywood entertainment and staff but don't even think for a minute that we've let go of our own roots, culture and identity. They can all coexist in one unity.

People still mix, the perception of the area and how media reports it just makes non-whites avoid the area adding to the "whites only" perception. I can arrange a safe stay at the lodge if you want to take a look for yourself. Just let me know
Orania is not bigoted their culture has almost been obliterated, this tribe are unique and don't want what little is left of them to be assimilated into the melting pot. They live peacefully and are self-sufficient. They bought that land in a semi dessert remote area. From my impression they are very humble, hard working and industrious. They are staunch Calvinist Christians that also want to keep their integrity of their beliefs. Their separation is not without precedent, many threatened cultures all over the world have chosen to live their own way of life. Rastafarian for example.. Why not go there and find out for yourself before believing the race bating media and their preconceived notions. I guarantee that all you who claim they are an enclave of bigot's have never gone there. Start opening up your minds to embracing all different people without prejudice. If you can't embrace them leave them in peace.

I am from Cape Town and i was really captivated by this video. I currently live in Kimberley, a city in the Northern Cape. If you really want the most holistic experience of South Africa i would suggest you visit all the 9 cities of each province. You will be blown away by the absolute contrast in people, culture, way of life and environment. I told myself that if i never get the opportunity to travel to another country again i will be fine with that as this country has so much to offer. Looking forward to watching all your videos.
It reminds me when I was young in 2000 and lived in London for a year. Even back then, there was this perception of Europe being this magical place where everything just works perfectly, but when you get there, you realise there are problems too, and the culture is a lot more different than I had imagined. Though I'm a white Afrikaner, I found I had more in common with the black immigrants in London than the white natives. it's really worthwhile to live in a different part of the world at least once in your life. It broadens your perspective, and it really teaches you to appreciate things you used to take for granted. Europe was a great place to visit, but I will never be a European.

You should do a video of the farmer's culture in South Africa, I would recommend Pretoria. It's rich in culture especially now with the Jakaranda trees starting to bloom. It would also be a great way to show how South Africa is different from America

Normally when i watch these videos it’s usually a comparison of the 2 countries but you took a different route, you opened up to us rather and it felt really interactive I won’t lie 🤞. Hey Jared, I'm a South African, Cape Town born in the Caribbean Islands. I want to challenge you to go watch a local rugby game and experiance the energy of a local derby. This is something i truly miss, a local rivalry between two coloured clubs. Just be careful which clubs you go visit/watch. I'm from Ravensmead, Cape Town and MY local club is Tygerburg RFC. It is safe to go there [i recommend that you can even contact some of the officials and thay will definitely assist you if you decide to go]
As a local boy, this video really made me feel so proud to be South African. A stranger you meet on the train/taxi or just in passing could be one of the nicest people you will meet in your life. Unfortunately alot of people have their guards up and are not willing to open up to one another because of various reasons. But, we do know how to care for one another. Crime is an issue that affects many BUT the vast majority are good people. The poorest people are the most humble people. Racism is alive and well BUT not on a massive scale though. Speak to people and see how they warm up to you once they start trusting you. Lastly, there is so many things to do in Cape Town, you could literally just ask anyone lol

Great video and I'm happy that you get to experience our home the way you do. :) I have a friend that's temporarily living in USA Philadelphia, he's lived in Florida as well for a couple of months , everytime I get to talk to him he always stresses the fact that he misses home because he doesn't feel the richness of culture that side. And to have someone from that side to confirm that they feel richness in our culture means alot, it means we really are who we are and we're strong like that. As a South African I'm still learning...this journey never ends fam...the number 1 thing I hope for, is that you have a chance to experience the authentic love that my country displays.... every province is uniquely different but that is one constant factor anybody would experience throughout the country.

Did you know cape coloureds has the world's most diverse genes apparently. Due to the history of the colonial situation. It's still something I would love to really study. I don't even know my full bloodline. I know there's French Huguenot, Irish, Indian.. And others I don't know.
I'm a South African who just relocated to the Netherlands exactly a month ago now. This is the second time I would have lived outside my country. Four years ago I temporarily relocated to Central Europe after quitting my job and that was majorly uncomfortable but it came with peace of mind. Now we've permanently emigrated to the Netherlands and I will say this is different knowing the permanence of it, this time around I'm learning the language, trying the food, trying to follow politics and even pop culture - I will say, in order for one to fit in and allow a chapter to unfold - you have to completely immerse yourself, especially when there are major cultural differences. Excellent video. I think you'll be quite surprised by Durban and Kwa-Zulu Natal (I'm from that neck of the woods) and even wonder if we're in the same country. Cape Town is quite unique in SA because of how "international" it is, and is part of the reason I stayed after I moved. The race thing as a social construct also resonates with me. I look Indian but I technically have some European heritage on my mother's side. She's "Anglo-Indian", meaning a mix of British and Indian if she were in India, but here in SA she's closer to "coloured", even though she marks Indian as her demographic. If you were to meet her she could even pass for a well-tanned white person. But as for myself, I see myself as a mix of all things and the colour of my skin is the last thing I think about. I always like to joke that I was born on the internet.

You chose an awewome country to visit. I am from the Cape Province and when I went over to the US I had to make friends quick due to the loneliness. What help a lot was the when I met a felloww South African in NY and we could explore most of the US together. It was also my 1st time being called black but I just went with it. South Africa is an extraordinary place and you will fall in love to the point where this will become your 2nd home. It does get easier. Enjoy all the cultures and make lots of friends.

There's nothing easy about the crime rate in Cape Town. Eastern Cape is the easy mode in my opinion. The big cities can be too populated and can seem too congested. I guess it depends on where you find yourself in Cape Town. I can tell you for a fact Cape Town is anything but easy mode for the other half of it's population

This channel popped up for the first time on my RUclips feed this morning. I visit Cape Town 2 or 3 times a year for my tour company, and agree it's a very special place. I found your comments about "switching race" interesting, and I can imagine how that might take place. Years ago I read John Howard Griffin's classic 'Black Like Me' and it opened my eyes to how most of us don't even realize how the world perceives us. My own (subtle) version of this story is that when I travelled as a government official (in a suit and tie) I was treated so differently than when I travel now in my shorts and hoodie. I expect women experience this all the time. Anyway, I liked your video and plan to watch some more of your stuff.
Your video makes me emotional. All the things you mentioned are 100% true. We, South African are very well informed, about what goes on in America and around the world and that is very impressive. I love the fact that you mentioned that.
Great decision for your growth. I will suggest that you explore other provinces to get the best of SA. KZN, Gauteng etc you will also learn that they are different from Cape Town in various ways.

Hey Jared! Really enjoyed watching this video. I am from South Africa and living up in KZN. Definitely worthwhile seeing this area and there are potential venues to play your music which could double an adventure with a small tour potentially. There was a band that toured from Capetown up to KZN midlands and moved here as they fell in love with the area.
My husband is from Cpt and we’re thinking of moving there to be with our family who are there. Having spent lots of time there I totally agree it’s somewhere with incredible diversity. Not without its challenges but with common sense a beautiful place to be

In Durban we have a lot to offer from wild to beautiful beaches and scenery,. You need to visit Maxis Lifestyle in Umlazi to experience township vaabs. Umhlanga is the greatest of them all. Visit our coastline beaches along indian ocean. Bluff is also a beautiful suburb. Zimbali coastal resort will blow you away. UShaka marine world has the biggest aquarium in Afica. Moses Mabhida will help you jump for fun. There is a lot to do in Durban. Don't forget to visit Florida Road ❤😊

Hey Jared, I'm a South African, Cape Town born in the Caribbean Islands. I want to challenge you to go watch a local rugby game and experiance the energy of a local derby. This is something i truly miss, a local rivalry between two coloured clubs. Just be careful which clubs you go visit/watch. I'm from Ravensmead, Cape Town and MY local club is Tygerburg RFC. It is safe to go there [i recommend that you can even contact some of the officials and thay will definitely assist you if you decide to go]

As a local boy, this video really made me feel so proud to be South African. A stranger you meet on the train/taxi or just in passing could be one of the nicest people you will meet in your life. Unfortunately alot of people have their guards up and are not willing to open up to one another because of various reasons. But, we do know how to care for one another. Crime is an issue that affects many BUT the vast majority are good people. The poorest people are the most humble people. Racism is alive and well BUT not on a massive scale though. Speak to people and see how they warm up to you once they start trusting you. Lastly, there is so many things to do in Cape Town, you could literally just ask anyone lol
In only six months, you have already captured South Africa in nearly all its entirety.
It's not common for foreigners to describe South Africa so on the nail.

And to have someone from that side to confirm that they feel richness in our culture means alot, it means we really are who we are and we're strong like that. I'm a South African who just relocated to the Netherlands exactly a month ago now. This is the second time I would have lived outside my country. Four years ago I temporarily relocated to Central Europe after quitting my job and that was majorly uncomfortable but it came with peace of mind. Now we've permanently emigrated to the Netherlands and I will say this is different knowing the permanence of it, this time around I'm learning the language, trying the food, trying to follow politics and even pop culture - I will say, in order for one to fit in and allow a chapter to unfold - you have to completely immerse yourself, especially when there are major cultural differences.

Excellent video. I think you'll be quite surprised by Durban and Kwa-Zulu Natal (I'm from that neck of the woods) and even wonder if we're in the same country. Cape Town is quite unique in SA because of how "international" it is, and is part of the reason I stayed after I moved.
The race thing as a social construct also resonates with me. I look Indian but I technically have some European heritage on my mother's side. She's "Anglo-Indian", meaning a mix of British and Indian if she were in India, but here in SA she's closer to "coloured", even though she marks Indian as her demographic. If you were to meet her she could even pass for a well-tanned white person. But as for myself, I see myself as a mix of all things and the colour of my skin is the last thing I think about. I always like to joke that I was born on the internet.

You chose an awewome country to visit. I am from the Cape Province and when I went over to the US I had to make friends quick due to the loneliness. What help a lot was the when I met a felloww South African in NY and we could explore most of the US together. It was also my 1st time being called black but I just went with it. South Africa is an extraordinary place and you will fall in love to the point where this will become your 2nd home. It does get easier. Enjoy all the cultures and make lots of friends.

There's nothing easy about the crime rate in Cape Town. Eastern Cape is the easy mode in my opinion. The big cities can be too populated and can seem too congested. I guess it depends on where you find yourself in Cape Town. I can tell you for a fact Cape Town is anything but easy mode for the other half of it's population

This channel popped up for the first time on my RUclips feed this morning. I visit Cape Town 2 or 3 times a year for my tour company, and agree it's a very special place. I found your comments about "switching race" interesting, and I can imagine how that might take place. Years ago I read John Howard Griffin's classic 'Black Like Me' and it opened my eyes to how most of us don't even realize how the world perceives us. My own (subtle) version of this story is that when I travelled as a government official (in a suit and tie) I was treated so differently than when I travel now in my shorts and hoodie. I expect women experience this all the time. Anyway, I liked your video and plan to watch some more of your stuff.

In Durban we have a lot to offer from wild to beautiful beaches and scenery,. You need to visit Maxis Lifestyle in Umlazi to experience township vaabs. Umhlanga is the greatest of them all. Visit our coastline beaches along indian ocean. Bluff is also a beautiful suburb. Zimbali coastal resort will blow you away. UShaka marine world has the biggest aquarium in Afica. Moses Mabhida will help you jump for fun. There is a lot to do in Durban. Don't forget to visit Florida Road ❤😊
