SOUTH AFRICANS are absolutely friendly ppl. I am only 3rd generation freedom slave... my heritage is my family working the sugar cane fields. My great granny came to South africa as a 6 month old baby with her parents, who worked the fields all their lives. She dedicated her live to the Catholic church with cleaning it, right until she died at 105 years old. I am very proud of who I am and my family history.
Great video, and thanks for sharing about South African Indian community, we are proud of our culture, cuisine, dress and language but intermingle with South African culture ❤❤❤
Such an awesome video. The Indian culture is amazing to me. Love the food for sure. Thanks JD for sharing your experience in SA. Can’t wait to visit myself.
south africans are truly warm people. im anti-social af but they are the only people that can bring rare kind of kindness out of me. im south african but spent most of life in and out of SA
This is awesome. Thank you JD for choosing my experience, you are welcome anytime. All the best for the rest of your stay on SA, and maybe see you on the flip side.
Hi bro, South Africans are generally warm and welcoming people. We pride ourselves with the spirit of "UBUNTU" - meaning I am because you are🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦. Thank your new subbie here.
Hi Jarred, firstly I enjoyed the quality and vibrancy of this video. You fit in perfectly in that video like a family member lol. Did you know that South Africa has the biggest population of people with Indian descent outside India? To me Durban has a more young, African cosmopolitan feel compared to Cape Town. Strangely enough, I was also there in Chatsworth in November on family business.
Thank you so much 🙏 I truly felt at home in Durban. Yes, I’ve heard that fact before and I believe it. What a coincidence that we were both in Chatsworth in November! Hope you had a great time.
This is what I appreciate about Durban: the accessible African and Indian cultures, right in the city... (watered down or not, they are there). My first encounter with stinking rich Indian people, was in Durban; before that I had only encountered Indian house-house linen merchants. I chuckled to hear that for you the script was flipped. Beautiful vlog.
Thanks for sharing Lebo. It’s true , there is a certain authenticity to this place that I really appreciate. I encountered wealthy Indians too, interestingly enough
Bro, nice video, like really nice video, you captured a good part of the escense of the Durban Indian culture. The food, the temples, the cross culture wedding. 👌
Food is classic very special Nelson Mandela always loved Indian's spicy food special cook for Nelson Mandela during his presidential years those where the day's ❤❤❤❤
Grew up on bunny chows and consumed a lot of Indian food when we were starting our careers in Durban. Indian people used to be generally on the slim side. Today one can’t tell an Indian woman from a Zulu unless you see the hair. Really interesting evolution as everyone now consumes a lot of fast food. Been gone 25 years so notice these things. Also intermarriage is a thing now. Wasn’t when we were younger but Indian guys always tried heir chances 😅 Apartheid kept us apart back then. Will look for a curry place next time I’m in Durban, inspired by your video.
thanks for the comment. Where have you been living for the past 25 years? Hope you had a warm welcome back. I would love another bunny chow, they are delicious. I highly recommend Gounden’s 😊

@@jdtimecapsule as Christian I have never been in the Temples and have always been curious on how they look inside. Your video didn't disappoint. Also I have some India heritage... And through the food ... It is one of the best ways to immerce oneself in the culture.
I don't know much, if at all, about Indians outside South Africa specifically KZN. Indians in South Africa are a huge integral part of this country historically they have and still are playing an enormously important role to the development of all and especially us Africans. Like every communities, we do have pocket of differences that sometimes can even transcend disagreements but nothing cannot be resolved with a bunny chow and an ice cold one ( Coke or otherwise). However, lately with this new generation they have even been intermarriages happening with the young ones embracing each others culturally between Africans and Indians. I fully understand and appreciate that each race strive to maintain the authenticity of its kind something that might easily be misinterpreted as racism. It exists in every race but KZN people (Indians and Africans) are so unique that there could be a disagreement somewhere but a strong unity the other side. I hope you find peace in whatever it is that you're looking to resolve. Namaste❤
Cape Town is not friendly to people like us, unless you have an American accent, then they treat you better. Some even start gossiping about “these blacks”.
@@baphithiI don't know where you got that information from? I moved from the KZN Mid South Coast to Cape Town 24 years ago. I live in a suburb where I am the only person of Indian origin and I have never been happier.
South African Indians are great people! Hard working, intelligent and a culture of Decency and Respect!!! They are great to work and socialize with. I am an Irish Boer, whose family has been here in SA since 1702!! Documented!
Discipline and Respect has been forced upon us by our Parents. Many Indians supported the ANC during their struggle for a Non Racial Country. Sadly the ANC has now introduced Racists laws whereby our Children are prevented from University even if graduating with exceptional symbols. An Indian,White or Coloured child cannot dream of becoming a Doctor because this government will refuse him/her permission to enter a Tertiary institution. Most Job opportunities are only reserved for Blacks!
