Nice video. I am from Belgium and i think of going there to retire in 10 years :)
I am going there in 2022 to explore it. I thought of several countries but Mauritius has something that attracts me the most.
I honestly think this is a great idea. We met a lot of people there who chose to do it. You can be very active yet have a peaceful life and has all the amenities/facilities you could need! But do go, it is always better to get a sense of a place by yourself :)

Hi Billy! I know for 100% there is one (Heritage fitness gym) which has machines, cross fit and private coaching. I doubt there are many because it is still a small town. Flic en Flac could have more. But that said, in la Gaulette you can do outdoor sports :)
Wow amazing. I live in Sydney Australia but lived in Mauritius as a kid. I remember my whole class wagged school once and went to Flic En Flac, we had a ball.
Oh what a place to grow up 😍 have you been ever since? Australia also is amazing, it’s my dream destination to go!
I’ve never been back unfortunately. Sydney is nice but a bit of a hectic lifestyle.

Hey! So I think you need to make sure to ask about it when you rent a flat or Airbnb . Mine was flawless - a lot better than compared to Thailand, Kenya or other places.
It was an an amazing experience so I could not recommend more! You are so lucky to keep living that life!

Honestly the best! This is always the first thing I check when I rent. It was great for calls with video and all. One thing though.. the flat we got was in the top floor with big glass windows and we went there in the hottest season. It was sometimes so hot my husband's laptop would get a bit slow and he literally put it in the fridge for a few minutes one time (he had a job interview online and really wanted for it not to bug). But I had a newer laptop and never had such issues despite massive heat. Hi! So unfortunately I am not super informed in these topics first hand. But, my landlord moved from France when her kids were primary school age because she said Mauritius is way better environment for kids. I know you have both private and public schools and I don’t know which one is better. Some kids go to English speaking schools and others French - but either way I think it’s great opportunity for them because they will grow up speaking both! In terms of healthcare, I had one accident while being there (I stepped on see urchin) and I was there in a hospital - great service and it was free!

I've been looking at moving to a place like this and am wondering how friendly the beaches are for wearing thongs? Also what are the best internet providers and are electronics hard to get?
Oh thongs wise I never tested it but honestly it’s not a conservative country so I would feel free to wear whatever! Got my internet from EMTEL and it was very good. Unfortunately I don’t know much about electronics but there was a normal shopping mall so it should be ok! Plus people ship things too (from reunion maybe?) hope you decide to go, it’s a great place!!!

So for now I no longer have a job that allows me to work remote :( it is not that easy post pandemics it seems…
But my husband is allowed and he works for a tech company in a tech role. I also met many people who are online teachers

Depends on the place but overall great I would say. Just pick airbnb that says they have good wifi. Sim Card worked perfect too

I find it funny how this nomadic type of life has become the right thing to do. Middle-aged women and men travel from place to place without purpose or direction. No commitment to a place or a person. Not to mention having children. And that's considered a "wow" thing. I don't get it.

I see your point. I had a lot of mixed feeling about this lifestyle because it does come with a price (such as missing friends and family for example). You can see my videos ‘digital nomad paradise - myth or reality?’ to see what I mean! But also, I saw many families who are digital nomads with kids!!! And I go with my husband so this helps with stability and emotional support.

Mauritius needs to ditch its stupid mask and quarantine policies. These are what are putting a lot of people off from visiting or relocating. I wouldn't want to go somewhere where I have to put a silly rag over my face all the time. It makes no sense. You need to get your government to drop these mandates.
Yeah I know!!! My friend got a fine for not having a mask on a boat in the sea... quite silly if you ask me
