I'm embarrassed to say that I have never heard of this island until yesterday and I thought I was familiar with all the countries (islands) in Africa. So, when I met someone who lived there-I had to do my research. Wow, breathtaking!
Dang Schools don't teach geography like they should. It's okay. 🙂
Hi Lucy, I am enjoying each video!!! They are all so full of information!
Agree with Lucy, harmony amongst different cultures too, we are blessed ..
Yes, it is a harmonious place indeed.
Thanks Lucy, awesome! Will check out some of your other vids now.
Your videos are superbly uplifting Lucy . Keep up the great work 💙💪🏻💙
Thanks James! I aim to please 😃Have a great weekend.
Someone wrote " I'm cold here in Melbourne" !!
I laughed to death 🤣
Here's in Toronto Canada -5C is comfortable with me.
Of course, it happens to -30C , -40C.
Ha, ha! Yes, it's all relative I guess :)
Great video as always!
Mauritius is definitely on our radar for retirement. What’s not to love about the place? Anxious to go for a visit.
Great job Lucy. Thanks for all the info.
Thanks very much Matt.
Finding your videos very helpful and informative!! Well done!! - They 100% helped us pick out our holiday destination for next year. Hopefully restrictions won't be in place! And will keep coming back to your videos for the great content in the meantime.
Thanks very much. Glad you are enjoying the channel 👍
Love your videos!!.. very optimistic in a vulnerable world right now!! A happy escape..

Wonderful!! I'm booked on the 1st flight on 1st of October, absolutely can't wait too get there.
That's great news Carien. I hope you will enjoy it here.
How was the trip?
how was the trip?
Hi Lucy thank you for wonderful & informative videos, we visited Mauritius 2 weeks ago (may 2023 ) we had a fantastic time & look forward to coming again soon. Once again thanks for all your hard work which made our holiday a memorable one .
A pleasure Zuber. Glad you enjoyed your stay!
I'm British Mauritian. My first reason is always the climate! I love being near the beach. I feel very lucky to be living here as we are free to do what we want. Only downside it's a bit expensive.
The beaches and the climate are certainly very attractive. 👍
Is it better than the Canary Islands ? 🇮🇨
@@christopherhouse7937 Dunno, never been there.
@@christopherhouse7937 Yes better than canary island.
Cuenca Ecuador is nice.
Less expensive than Mauritius.
Planning to finally come this year ..
I also adore the sugarcane plantations everywhere
Me too Zainab. I love exploring around the sugarcanes! Have a great weekend!
What a very informative video. Thank you Lucy.
Only a pleasure
Thanks very much for making this video as I am studying about possibility for long term stay in Mauritius! It is well edited video!
My pleasure 😊
Your videos are of such a high quality in terms of content / visuals / editing / logic etc.
It was a great testimonial for anyone considering Mauritius as a new home.
I hope to visit soon.
Thanks so much Ross for saying this. I must admit that lately RUclips has felt like a chore and I have considered giving up many times. It’s really hard work, but comments like this make it worth while. 😃
@@LucyLeheilleix Maybe take a break if you are tired. That way you may come back energised and brimming with with renewed inspiration : )

6th - the Mauritians' warm hospitality 😉
Absolutely right. That too Zyaad.
Amazing video perfect! Thank you! Enjoy your stay 😘
Thanks Edith!
Very helpful and inspiring, thank you so much

Another informative video for anyone considering to move to Mauritius.
Thanks so much for this lovely comment and for watching Yous!
Thank you Lucy, very impressive , beautiful Island 🏝 Mauritius reminds me of New Zealand
Thanks very much Reed for watching.
Hey Lucy! Great video as always (best Mauritius-focused content here so far). Would it be possible to get your husband in front of the camera for his impressions on the work life on Mauritius? Cheers! :)
Great suggestion! I can certainly ask him! Thanks so much for your positive feedback.
Great videos, I’m cold here in Melbourne. 17c in Curepipe in Winter would be a breeze 😂. Can’t wait to come and visit and if all goes well retire back there. I’m missing this island more and more. Cheers and stay safe.
Thanks Patrice for watching. It actually dropped down to 8 degrees Celsius last week! That is very cold for here! I hope lockdown is going ok?
Thanks Lucy your a real gem.My fiancé & I will see you soon booked for Nov.
So excited to show him the beautiful island 🏝
That’s amazing! Great that you’re coming here. Wishing you a great weekend.
The Mauritian food you have not say anything
Awesome vid Lucy! I agree the climate is the best part 😎
Thanks Will. Many great things to be grateful for here 😀
Thank you Lucy, pretty informative.
A pleasure!
Brilliant! :) Safety is an important element that often isn't mentioned in these type's of videos. :) Thanks you!
Very true! And it’s a genuine concern! Thanks for watching!
Don't let yourself be fooled by the SAFETY in Mauritius. Per percentage of population, it's one of the most dangerous island in the world! The daily thefts, robberies, muggings are not published in the newspapers, the only ones published are the tips of the iceberg! The touristic "areas" may be safe, but the people in city or rural areas have to hide themselves in their houses, afraid to go outside on the roads in front of their homes to watch the moon and the stars! In fear of muggings and thieves!
Hi Lucy, you have a great content and thanks for all videos. Since Mauritius is a popular wedding destination, maybe one day you would want to highlight in your video some favourite resorts / places in Mauritius for weddings. Just an idea. Thank you.
Wow, great idea Nata. Thank you!
@@LucyLeheilleix it doesn't have proper coverage in instagram or youtube. I have checked so many hotel pages in instagram in Mauritius, hoping to see some proper pics/videos examples of weddings on hotel premises and in their venues, but found only bits and pieces. Nothing clear. A lot of photoshop and guessing games.
Brilliant Lucy ,such a good ad for Mauritius.I have a different reason as I am a retired Art teacher ,over the age of 75 years and a Vlogger. For me,the main attraction is the beauty of the landscape .The ethnic mix is charming and Mauritians I have met speak beautifully,as you speak. So please Lucy, where did you learn to speak so well?
Hi Kerry! Please send me a link to your vlogging work. I agree, the ethnic mix is great here. I grew up partly in England and South Africa and went to film school. I have worked for many years in the film and tv industry. Perhaps that’s where I get my knowledge. Keep well!

That's amazing to hear that for a women it is safe as I am moving over in 3 weeks and will be alone alot 😀
I feel very safe here Jennifer, and like I said on that video, I venture out lot to secluded places.
...it's just one side of the coin !
Good luck Jennifer, open your 👁️👁️eyes and be very careful in Mauritius! Don't totally believe Lucy, her reports are one sided, surely she gets royal attention in Mauritius!

Great video positive comments Now living in Sydney Wish I could visit the island my home country one last time Peter
Thanks Peter! I hope you come back one day!
Masha Allah😍miss my Mauritius♥️ in shaa Allah, coming soon🥰Love from Uk♥️
Enjoy your trip!
We are also in the uk and arriving on Saturday, can’t wait
Thanks 🙏
Great video, thank you. I've been looking for a place to retire and never thought of Mauritius. However, last week it came up in a search as an alternative to Bali and I've found there is a good investment visa on offer. I'll definitely be researching this more.
Thanks for the comment! Do let me know John if you require any further assistance.
The best climates are in the region of Vacoas. Vacoas is neither too hot nor too cold. It's the best. The north is pretty hot during summer - so for those who dont like very warm termperatures , you shld opt for the Plaine Wilhems . Then when you want to go to beaches, you may just travel there ... takes around 30 -45min to get to flic en flac from vacoas
All really good reasons to live there. I find the diversity to be remarkable, as well.
Absolutely right Emily. Rich diversity here! Thanks for your support.
Five reasons why we are considering living in Mauritius, albeit for shorter time frames, best of summer in Jersey and then summer in Mauritius…..what’s not to like, and yes it does get humid…….but right now on May 13th, it’s cold, it’s wet and it’s windy……oh and supposed to be BST…..mmmm
Great video mum💜❤️💖
Thanks my darling 😍
Just stumbled on your channel (we are in the UK and leaving tomorrow so will be in that lovely country on Saturday. Found some of your videos really informative although did not know there was still restrictions with bars, does that also include hotel bars?
Hi Karl. Within your hotel you should be absolutely fine! Have a great trip!
@@LucyLeheilleix thank you (although don’t want to spend too much time in hotel or I may as well stayed at home lol) also looking forward to the diving.
Thank you and have a great day
hey Lucy! Great video. You made mention in your video about flights from Perth to Mauritius , 6,5 hours. Is that with Air Mauritius?
Thanks !
Hello! There are multiple airlines that fly that route. You’d have to check online.
I’ll also add that since Covid, many routes have changed. As an example, air Mauritius is only resuming direct flights to Cape Town around October 2022.
very nice thanks
Most welcome! Thanks!
Amazing video
Glad you think so! More coming soon.
Amazing video of my island in the sun, BUT NOT ALL THE TRUTH!
I presently live in UAE and I thought I wouldn't be safe anywhere else, but thanks to your video I definitely am pulled to Mauritius. One question comes to mind is whether or not I'd find a job there as an admin assistant (launch a video on jobs in Mauritius). Bisous!
These south Africans bring their racist ideology there in Mauritius. Ask these Mauritian ppl.
Absolutely love what you do in your RUclips platform to promote this wonderful island I get to call my second home. Me and my family are from England, where did originally live? We are hoping to retire in Mauritius or at least until the children finish their education as they are special needs children x
Hi Jen! Thanks so much for the lovely comment. I’m half British/South African, so lived previously in Bristol, London and Cape Town. Hopefully see you on the island one day.
@@LucyLeheilleix ahhh I thought you had a more British sounding accent ☺️ we live in Surrey! We should be over some time next year July-august in the northern area. Thanks again for all your videos I love the subjects you cover xx
Thanks Jen for watching. More videos coming soon.
@@LucyLeheilleix I hope you warn people not to walk alone in Camp Levieux in your next video!🤔
You forgot to mention the wonderful and rich mix of people there.
Yes! True that. Thanks for the comment.
Hi
Thank you for making this video
We’re moving there next month.
One question while we packing. 😁Do you think we can buy dual air fryer cooking pot in Mauritius? Thanks 😊
Hello. You can look online at galaxy, 361 and Priceguru.

Am I the oy native Mauritian watching this? 🤣🤣🤣 I suggest you lot visit Bras D'eau and Eau Blue during summer xD
how do Mauritians deal with the covid issue? are you forced to take it or are you socially disadvantaged when unvaccinated? would greatly appreciate an answer.
Lucy you are awesome! If we were to visit with a small baby for a few months, where would you suggest we stay in terms of family comfort, my wife is a bit nervous about medical for the baby. We love hiking too.
Hi there. If you like hiking, the west is the place to be. Tamarin/Black River or Le Morne area. There is C Care in Tamarin and a big hospital Wellkin (near Eben). You should be good 😉 All of the best for 2022.
Seems cool
Mauritius is pretty cool.
It's a blessed country
Great video, thanks!
There's also the various aspects of religious activities that has not been covered. Most religions are present here, where i live, and bring rainbow color on the island, with nil clash between them!
Very true Claude. I only mentioned 5 reasons. It seems I’ll need to make another video covering the other motivations for living here. Thanks for the comment.
@@LucyLeheilleix I'll be glad to help, re religious infos!
Not 100% true. You just have to take a closer look.

Always nice to see different parts of Mauritius. I would like to know if you have a link to the new spousal laws? I can not find anything on the law where a spouse of a permit holder is allowed to work or open their own business?
Hi Darrel. This is a very confusing and interesting question. It appears as though this law was never passed…. Seems spouses need their own visas.
@@LucyLeheilleix Thank you so much. Hoped I missed something. Will have to wait till they one day pass it in...
Thanks dear.!❤️ Sounds amazing,... How about the vaccination? Are you forced to take it and if not are socially disadvantaged?
You are not forced but when you intend to work here you mostly have to be vaccinated unless you work from home. For tourists it has also changed in the meantime. No vaccination anymore, just a test. Some restaurants still have restrictions and you still have to wear the mask, but I'm confident that this as well will change soon.
I'm currently living in California and I'm seriously considering moving to Mauritius
May well be the right move for you!
Hi Lucy, we plan to move to Mauritius for couple of months, can you please recommend where we should stay?
Also, because we plan to work remotely, how is the internet connection there?
Thanks
Hi there. I’d recommend the west coast, Tamarin area. Internet is fairly fast with 100mbps lines with my.t. Good luck 👍🏻
Ciao Excellent video, much appreciated : please recommend a high school? My daughter only have 2 years to go. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Hello. Try west coast or Northfields! 👍🏻
I was there with some friends some years back and found that it's overpriced. From hotels / villas to restaurant food to activities, I remember it to be quite high. Edit... In comparison to say, Bali, various Islands in the Philippines or even the Maldives.
I agree. It is overpriced. Thanks for your comment.
MAURITIUS IS ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE ISLANDS IN THE WORLD! God help the poors!
Mauritius is very expensive, how the lower class suffer - nobody knows! You saw the beauty of our island, but you don't notice the hell they go through, you don't see their tears!

You are very lucky indeed 😃
I was thinking to move to Mauritius (I visited 10 times) , but It’s too cold for me .
Then I moved to Saudi Arabia .... I prefer 40 degrees (lol)
Ah….Mauritius does get hot though….but not 40 degrees🤪
Hahaha.... I love temperatures between 15°C to 21°C
Regarding weather and climate, are there periods of heavy rain?
Hi there. Yes, from November to Feb/March is the rainy cyclone season.
@@LucyLeheilleixYes, you are right, in November the cyclone season OFFICIALLY starts, but in November/December it's usually not rainy. Actually, November is a good month to visit Mauritius. Warm and not yet too humid. December also is still fine. It actually starts with the hight temperatures combined with humidity as from January which does not necessarily mean rain. A climate not made for everybody. And don't forget the anti-cyclones bringing rain all over the year. So, to get it right, Mauritius does not have a special season like monsun.

@@LucyLeheilleix not yet but shifting soon...what's your point about school and education for higher secondary?your girls are in which school?
