Heyy Lucy! I'm a mauritian who goes to Lycée LaBoudonnais and you explained very well all the schools in mauritius as well as the way we do. I would like to say that Lycée Labourdonnais is now an International school which we mostly speak french... I really appreciated your video! Keep going!
Thanks Lucy - looking to move with our 3 kids and want them to attend the same school if possible. Thanks for the concise info. I'll be doing a solo reconnaissance trip later in the year to scout out schools etc etc etc.
Hi Lucy great video well done. Another great school in the center in Trianon is Morning Star with a well known international christian education system. Might interest some of your viewers 😉
This is one of the scariest issues for us coming over. We have never been to Mauritius so everything is new to us. Thanks for pointing us in a good direction. I wanted to buy you a coffee but that link asks me to sign up and then goes to my own page instead of yours.
Hi Al. Indeed looking for a school while moving to a new country is very daunting. Hopefully you'll find something suitable. If you'd like to buy me a coffee, try the following link: www.buymeacoffee.com/lucyleheilleix All of the best.
@@apete797 hi there. They are in private schools. It is pretty much expected that (as an expat) you send your kids to a private school. That said, I did see some asking over on Facebook about sending their kids to a local school. It depends on your budget and what suits your family. The level of education is very good in local governmental schools too.
I went to Le Bocage Private International school in Moka. Brilliant school. If you go to Le Bocage you do not need to learn French. Classes are in English. You can do Afrikaans as a language, very helpful if you move to Mauritius with High School age children.
Hi Lucy, I'm falling in love with Mauritius and looking at a career change as a teacher. Do you have any links, websites or advice on the best way to apply for positions at Private schools in Mauritius?
Thank you so much for the imformation.my daughter is going to begin Junior high school in China .next year her father will work In Mau and i hope she can go with him because we are so tired about the crazy Chinese education, but i am worried if she can catch up with the international IB class,we have another system in China, what can I do for her?
Could you please tell me more about these schools. Do they take on NQT? Do they run a PGCE with the MIE? are there many expatriate teachers? Is there any schools in the east please? Do they teach Kreole in these private schools? Are all schools bilingual?
Hi Adi. Do check out the websites of the schools as there are too many to single out. International schools teach predominantly in English with French as an additional subject (or other foreign languages). French schools teach in French with an English section. Kids are encouraged to be bilingual. There are no private international schools on the east coast as this area mainly only has a few hotels and villages. Kreole is something my kids pick up from everyday social interaction. 😀
Hi Lucy, Great video and information presented, as usual. Do you intend on making a video on the public school system in Mauritius in the future? Besides private schools, Mauritius is also home to some excellent public schools.
Great suggestion Kesh. There are so many public schools here that it will make a very long video! I chose private schools as my target market is mostly expats. Let's see. Thanks very much for watching.
HI Lucy, these videos are so helpful! I have been looking at which high schools get the best results for our very academic 11 year old daughter. Where we move too will be decided around the best school. In your opinion which is the BEST high school. Thank you so much for these videos.
Hi Allen. I Sony know of anyone who has been there. Probably best you email them and take a tour. I find you’ll always know if it’s going to be feasible after the first visit 👍🏻

Hi Lucy. We are relocating from Cape Town next year and our kids are in public school here. Is private schooling the only option for expats? I have found St Nicholas Grammar school which is more in our budget, but I cannot find any others in this price range on the island.
Hello! Yes, private schooling is certainly advised. Public schools are excellent, but expats are expected to pay for schooling. The island has got very, very expensive…
