Most of the time the Marshall stacks are empty props for show. There is usually only one or two cabinets that are actually being used. The most impressive voice in Heavy Metal is by Michael Kiske. He wrotes Heavy Metal Operas with the Band Halloween. That is a musical Fable, with 100 Transistion from the evil to the beauty. from the head voice to the belly voice and there are no gradations, everything climbs up and down the scales finely, without steps. And he has so much air and strength in his voice. It's so impressive. He dont growl, he really sings. Check out the written Heaavy Metal Fable "Keeper of the seven keys".
Please Please react to OPETH - Ghost of Perdition (LIVE AT RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE) Mikael who sings and plays guitar has an amazing range and vocal technique!
The one detail I really love about your vidoes: You always take your time to at least check the name of the singer. Doesn't matter which band, the name is always there. Is it important to the video? Not at all. But a great show of respect. If you're still looking for music to enjoy, I highly recommend checking out Savatage, by the way. Chance, Believe, Gutter Ballet, All that I bleed - whatever. It's the kind of metal that makes me just feel good, so I highly recommend them!
As a vocal coach, you must check out Dir En Grey. I would love to hear your take on the vocals for this band. I recommend you start with "Vinushka- Androgynous live ".
The familiarity probably comes from the flattened 5th in the chord progression. This was once called diablous in musica due to it's ominous sounds, and it goes back to Black Sabbath.
Slayer songs are like a spooky movie. The lyrics are always graphic. I just jumped on your Eddie V reaction to suggest HELSTAR DARK INCARNATION but you mention vocal fry here and they have another song where fry plays a role called ABOLISH THE SUN. Hint hint, it’s a vampire song. :) James Rivera was 61 when he recorded DARK INCARNATION, he must have been 55-56 when he recorded ABOLISH THE SUN. I had an album from them in ‘89 and his voice was marvelous then. It got better!!!
yes Slayer was a pretty loud band live. i sadly only saw them once but it was a show to remember one of the best gigs i ever experienced. especially when you know each and every song they play (you know because they have become my second favorite band in time right after watain ps chem them out if you like to, completly different genre of metal check out their song Malfeitor for a good start) its pure adrenaline and freedom as you scream those lyrics and feel like one with the music and Band. they blasted so loud many people left because it was to loud.
I salute you for reacting to this. Not everyone's cup o tea. I saw them at a 200 person bar in '85, then at Red Rocks on the Clash of the Titans tour in '91. The South of Heaven album was a shift in Tom's singing style, there is more shout-singing, IMO. Still, good stuff. Thanks for the reaction!
About volume and "huge" sound accoustically for extreme vocals: it depends on the person and technique used. Some people cup the mic to get more compression and volume, some rely on amplification more, some dont. I am not knowledgeable enough to be able to explain technical differences but I can tell you that personally, when I was in training back in the day doing extreme vocals I was very loud. We had a band rehearsal without the drummer one time so we just used small amps in a bandmates bedroom and i did vocals without any mic and amplification. I was almost too loud for the like 30-40-50-whatever watts practice amplifiers tuned to high gain settings.
Hello and thank you for your videos. :) May I suggest another delicacy from the extreme metal area? A not unknown band from Norway. Named: Dimmu Borgier, namely the "Forces of the northern night" series either the concert in Oslo (53 musicians from the Norwegian radio orchestra and 30 members of the Schola Cantorum), or the one from Wacken Open Air, Germany (with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra) both great performances. The following songs would be the "best": Mourning Palace; Dimmu Borgir; Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse; Gateways; The Serpentine Offering. And then to come back down the instrumental Fear And Wonder. All the best, greetings from Germany
Yeah seen them multiple times, they dont play tracks for the opening. That was just one guitar and was Kerry playing it while he walked out, Other than sometimes having a stage that actually rains blood on them they dont really do much for big intro and theatrics.
Slayer doesn’t work to well mid afternoon outside with 90% audience in the hot dog queue. I saw them in a small club in Belfast and it was the perfect setting with Slayer fans.
He is one of those guys that when he smiles or laughs he is just such a sweet guy and then he gets on stage! I’ve watched some interviews with him and he really is just a nice guy. I only saw them live once way back in the late 80s maybe early 90s. Don’t remember. But it was before metal got super big. It was at an old roller skating rink and the stage was small and only like 8ft high. It was amazing to be so close to the band.
I have yet to see anyone react to Alejandro Aranda’s auditions on American Idol. I’d love to get your opinions! One of my favorite performances by far. I’d suggest listening to at least 2 audition songs. Keep up the great work!
So......have seen them live twice....once in the EARLY 90s.....they did the same entrance.......music.....crowd going wild.....curtain went up.......people were KO'd immediately in the pit.......then about 5 years ago.....still awesome.....no curtain but same style of entrance.....sorry late reply
Not sure if those Marshall stacks are real but Rush is a great story of prop Marshall stacks. Alex Lifeson had stack props that annoyed the piss out of Geddy Lee. So Geddy would have washing machines, dryers, popcorn poppers and all sorts of silliness going on behind him. Over the years the joke grew and they would have someone come out during the show and do laundry or make popcorn. You get the idea.
Unfortunately Slayer retired last year after 40 something years of music they basically said we're tired and retired at a high point and rightfully so they've earned it

I subscribe, Imagine getting a ❤ from Ken Lavigne. I hope to see more Morisette and Marcelito Reactions. Thank You and God Bless!
The marshall stacks are 6/6/6 left and 6/6/6 at the right hand site.
James Rivera was 61 when he recorded DARK INCARNATION, he must have been 55-56 when he recorded ABOLISH THE SUN.
May I suggest another delicacy from the extreme metal area?
Tom kills it in Angel of Death too with the note holding.
if possible check out live stuff from their early years. Or even studio videos.
Slayer doesn’t work to well mid afternoon outside with 90% audience in the hot dog queue. I saw them in a small club in Belfast and it was the perfect setting with Slayer fans.
"Well this guy's excited....pretty scary actually" 😂😂😂
Love Slayer, seen them a few times. Despite their sinister image I was always surprised how nice Tom is.
They were about to play Raining Blood at the end of that video.
I’d love to see you react to the band Six Feet Under and the live version of Feasting on the Blood of the Insane!
So......have seen them live twice....once in the EARLY 90s.....they did the same entrance.......music.....crowd going wild.....curtain went up.......people were KO'd immediately in the pit.......then about 5 years ago.....still awesome.....no curtain but same style of entrance.....sorry late reply
I went to a slayer concert once. It was like 1:30 hour of nonstop intensity!!! One of the best concerts i've ever seen.
Unfortunately Slayer retired last year after 40 something years of music they basically said we're tired and retired at a high point and rightfully so they've earned it
YES, to 11
React to:
Atlantean Kodex-Twelve Stars and an Azure Gown
Please!
+1 to that!!!
Probably the most unexpected reaction video on youtube. But a good one! Saw this concert while in hospital with a broken leg. Good/bad-ish times.
Perhaps the most diplomatic of reactions.
Genre switch-up: Please react to Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up.”
Or, how about a two-fer, comparing Isbell’s original with Morgan Wallen’s cover.
Ken that's a dope jacket my guy!
