- The Lucrehulk battlestation was one of the most important ships during the Clone Wars, and perhaps in all of Star Wars history. See how the CIS used this to repel the Republic, and how it was used during the blockade of Naboo, and over many other Star Wars planets. This will include a cross section, and how it stored C-9979 landing craft, Multi Troop Transport aka MTT, Armored Assault Tanks aka AAT, and Platoon Attack Craft and Vulture droid starfighters. This is one of the most unique Capital Ships in any Star Wars Navy, so you definitely want to know how the Lucrehulk works.

@@MetaNerdzLore Was that really because they were bad strategists? Because I think that sounds highly possible.
I think it's a terribly underrated ship. It's flaws make it more grounded, as its not some invincible super battleship carrier, it's just a retrofitted cargo ship with a ton of space inside. It has a set role and fills it admirably. I like it when fictional navies have specialised ships that excel at a set task.
Yeah I think it was just one of many cool thought out designs in ep.1
That's what I like about the Clone Wars. Each ship has their pros and cons. Even a Venator can get taken down with one lucky shot into its main hangar, or it's overly exposed bridge. Both sides have big pros and cons, allowing the war to be evenly matched.
"It should be pointed out that T-series droids were allowed to command Lucrehulks."
Now THERE'S your problem.
HAHAHA SO FUNNY HAHAHA NOPE T SERIES WON
@@Potato79207 your choice
But before that they were commanded by Neimoidians, which is worse.
And in the hands of an ST-series...oh boy. There might be some of them flying around in the outer rim or wild space, considering Kalani managed to override the shutdown signal when he suspected a Republic trick (he wasn't far off).
@@Oriaks correction their downfall was because the existence of aniken no aniken=unbeatable lucrehulk
If I remember right, the pre war Lucrehulk had the add-on generators while the wartime Lucrehulk was able to use military grade reactors to avoid bad child actor related losses. The wartime refit would also feature 185 quad point defense laser batteries, a staggering 520 assault laser cannons, and 51 quad turbolasers. Most of the turbolasers were moved to the outer ring so I imagine that the quad point defense lasers could basically create a killing field inside the ring. The point defense lasers probably couldn’t even scorch the armor on the Lucrehulk. They would also receive even greater shielding so the likelihood of an enemy reaching the reactor is even less. There aren’t really any good ways of out maneuvering these, just run and pray the Vultures won’t catch you. Spoiler alert: they probably can and will.
There was a clone ears episode (phase II armor so fairly inside the clone wars) where they blow up one of those things by destroying the added reactors in the hangarbay, which merely had some shield protection when intruder alert was given. Havent learned much.
@@TheGamingSyndrom I think you mean one Episode in the Umbara Arc. That was the only time I can remember them blowing up a ship from the inside, however this was not a Lucehulk, but a CIS Supply Ship.
Feel free to correct me If you mean a different episode :)
@@xxnightdriverxx9576 Agreed, that was the episode "Plan of Dissent". Here is the bit you're thinking of. "Fives, Hardcase and Jesse arrive at their target, but only to find the supply fleet under heavy attack from Republican space forces. They manage to sneak their way into the supply ship’s main hangar, but a battle droid eventually discovers the pilots’ true nature and raises the alarm. The reactor is put on ray shields immediately, foiling the clones’ attempt to blast them and leaving them to face an approaching droid interception force. Hardcase spontaneously detaches a missile pod from his fighter and, exiting his vessel, guides it by hand into the reactor system, sacrificing himself to ensure the mission’s success."
Interestingly enough, the Supply ship is a non-combat vessel so they are learning to use ray shields on their interior reactors.

I loved this craft. So robust and precise in nature. It makes for an unusual creative craft.
To me, CIS was one of the best parts of the Prequels. Unique looks, droid army, specific mood and atmosphere surrounding it all - I loved it!
for a dedicated carrier ship I think its as close to perfict as you can get. its not suposed to be taking on capitle ships and usualy wouldn't need to with fifteen hundred some odd vultres and hyena droids on board. and just one can subjugate a planet on its own in terms on troop carrying capasity. its a great shape and desine that works great for what it was meant for. I love this ship, if it ever comes to armada I'm so there to play it.
In my opinion it needs more point defense options. For two reasons: 1. the fact a child manages to pierce its defenses. 2. To hinder entry by enemy children, 3. To decrease the effectiveness of enemy ramming attempts.
@@baker90338 to be fair you are forgetting the fact that Anni only got in because they only had turbo lasers. As the lukerhulk that was blockading naboo was before the military refit. So your comment saying it needs more point defence Is a bit unfair. Had the luker hulk at naboo had a full complement of AA turrets like the refitted modles did the battle would have lasted only a few minutes and not the near half hour to hour it did in the movie.
zeb jensen ok. Thank youz
Not supposed to fight capital ships? Are you for real? That thing outguns the Venator (which is more of a dedicated Carrier than the Lucrehulk, despite being smaller!) and can tank the fire of several Venators (hell, it can probably fight several ISDs as well!)...this thing is a multi-role ship, it's not truly a carrier, despite carrying hundreds of fighters :)
ps: Depends on the planet! Corellia for example wouldn't fall to 10 of them, even if they could land their troops without opposition in space! Now some backwater world? Sure! Then again those backwater worlds could be supplied by one of them (that's what many of them did pre-war! They supplied backwater worlds with trade goods, that's how the Trade Federation made a lot of their money!) for months!
@@dreamingflurry2729 it also has enough fighters to overwhelm 2 venators ships

Just don't leave a little hole to shoot in.
@@Taboose7665 nope
@@Potato79207 no
Just give it redundant shields (it's what the Mon Cala do, but they do it with even more shield-generators because their ships were never planned as warships and thus don't have a central-shield generator...which is a blessing, but also a curse! Blessing because the redundant generators generate a very strong shield that isn't lost when one generator fails - curse because Mon Cal cruisers are hard to maintain, especially since you can't transfer personal from one to another without teaching them about their new ship, because they aren't the same! Each ship is unique - Lucrehulks are more or less the same when they come off the assembly line, if you know one you know all others (unless some commander personalized his ship with say additional point defenses...but even then an engineer probably knows enough about the stock ship to get by - unlike with a Mon Cal ship, because there is no Stock-Mon-Cal-Cruiser (unless you count the MC90 from legends, which is more like a stock-mass-produced ship than all other Mon Cal designs!))

I don't Know why but this was my favorite ship in the Star wars series
And I liked my own commet. Besides metanerdz Thank you
One of these would have been perfect for the *Rebels* to use as a *Base,* instead of Yarvin…Hoth…wherever.
Massive internal capacity for fighter and Corvette maintenance (It's large enough that GR75's could fit inside), and general operations and C & C. Plus being CIS it's mostly automated so crew requirements are minimal, important for the manpower limited Rebellion.
And being based on a commercial cargo ship, spares are probably easy to find and it wouldn't stand out too much if stumbled upon by accident by passing ships.
The idea of using a heavy carrier for the Rebellion is not as a combat ship, but as a hidden base that can relocate when necessary. It should never meet enemy ships if all goes well. But should the Imperials discover your base, that is hidden in a abandoned system, well, that base just hyperspaces to another system, maybe making a double jump, before the Imperial fleet shows up.
Imagine if Hoth base had been a Lucrehulk, spot Imperial probe droid and they are jumping in 5 minutes. If instead they detect a Imperial fleet emerging from hyperspace they jump instantly to coordinates they've already calculated, then from there they jump elsewhere.
If your Base ship is in combat, something went seriously wrong. The only chance the Empire has is to drop several Interdictors right on top without any warning that the base had been spotted and make sure the Interdictors aren't disabled before the ISD's can pummel the Lucrehulk.
It's so obvious to use one in this role, that you could be forgiven for thinking that the Lucrehulks existed _after the Rebellion,_ not before it. …
Well the Lucrehulk can probably deal with a smaller imperial fleet as well. So even if the imperials had an interdictor it would most likely get destroyed before Imperial reinforcements could arrive.
And with that in mind, since it won't ever need as much offensive storage, most of its' space can be used for much more.
Plus,if worse comes to worse, you can at least detach the core to pull off something.
Only issue I can think of is that it's CIS affiliated. There's probably a lot of anger/discrimination towards them for being part of the Clone Wars. That's a large part in-universe of why the Rebellion doesn't use Droids to make up for their small numbers.
@@MarcusHess-xb9og That and the fact that the Empire had almost two decades to round up and dismantle most of the old CIS and Trade Federation droids and warships so they couldn't be used against them.
This ship is amazing, and chalk full of potential even after being so powerful.
I think its potential was limited based on the fact it was always used by a faction scripted to lose, but when you hear about what it could doz especially its size, it becomes very clear this ship was a behemoth.
Seeing that shot where 3 of them were blockading a planet, after hearing their capabilities, gave me a newfound awe of them.
Long live the CIS

I was wondering what game
THIS IS A TRULY FASCINATING SHIP. personally i would set a few up as mobile asteroid mining and factory ships.

So glad you're going back and back more in-depth analysis videos on star wars. I mean, the old ones were good, but these are amazing!
Don't the cores detach? I remember seeing just the cores in Episode 2 on Geonosis and one of them in Episode 3 as a base on Utapau
They do detach. You can also see them reattaching themselves in the scene where Dooku's ship deploys it's solar sail.

This is it. This is the one ship from just about any series I would desire above all others. No mouths to feed, full army and navy forces, able to be commanded by a single person (or if you really needed to, you and a few friends) this is the ship you could park in orbit and use as your own personal space station city, as it has enough space aboard to fit just about anything you could want. And if you got a fully loaded one you would not only get the crew droids, but tanks and vultures and troop transports. This is my highest fantasy.
Screw the enterprise I’ll travel in a damn droid ship with a small number of trusted friends as commanding officers.
This is my favorite ship in star wars
My fav ship in starwars
Fun Fact: The ship that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan boarded at the beginning of The Phantom Menace and the Droid Control Ship that Anakin destroyed are _not_ the same ship. The ship at the beginning was Viceroy Nute Gunray's personal flagship Saak'ak, while the Droid Control Ship was the Vuutun Palaa. The entire bridge crew of the Saak'ak was transferred to the Droid Control Ship when the invasion was completed, which is why we see the same crew on both ships.
So far, neither Legends nor Canon have revealed what happened to the Saak'ak after the Trade Federation fleet ended the blockade of Naboo. So it's possible it was still in sevice during the Clone Wars or even the Galactic Civil War and beyond.
I can imagine some companies using these after the clone wars as like a luxury mass transport. Like a giant cruise ship for the rich and elite of the core worlds to explore the Galaxy
