2024 Honda Pilot Elite - Is This The Trim Level That HAS IT ALL?

  • The Honda Pilot received a full redesign for the 2023 model year. This redesign brought about many significant changes based on trim level. The base price for the Elite trim is $52,480. The Pilot is best described as offering plenty of space within the first and second rows for driver and passengers, ample space for cargo in addition to areas for storing small items, and easy-to-learn and use controls and technology. In addition to these features the Pilot Elite has a lot more to offer but does that make it the trim level that has it all? Find out in today’s Vehicle Visionary video!

I have the new Honda pilot elite white exterior/brown interior and actually did a road trip from Colorado, USA to Alberta, Canada! These are my personal thoughts: larger screen would be nice especially compared to other vehicles in it’s class plus it would modernize the overall look that much more, the infotainment system also needs an upgrade from the outdated graphics with primary colours, Bose sound system is top notch, drives smooth and the lane keep assist is very accurate and useful, snow mode noticeably helps the vehicle stick to the road in icy and snowy conditions (I used it a lot on my road trip), wish the Elite came with the steel skid plate that the trail sport has, love the storage with all the seats down (I fit more in the pilot than the bed of an enclosed pickup), ventilated seats work but the fan for them is quite noisy and same with when the rear climate controls are on it gets noisy, the piano black accents aren’t the greatest but because there is only a little I didn’t find it got too fingerprint-y, fuel economy is decent for the size and I’ve been getting a solid average of 9.6L/100km. I LOVE the new pilot and it does everything I need with the features it has. It’s no 4Runner, but I think it is more than capable to handle slight off-roading and I intend to install a rooftop tent and steel skid plate this spring and do a lot more off road exploring in it. All that being said, I’ve had one issue that I had to bring my pilot in for. The leather on the pax front seat was wrinkled and looked loose since I picked it up from the dealership. Turns out the foam in the seat wasn’t thick enough to fill the seat in completely causing the wrinkling. They are ordering new foam now and I’m waiting on install. Easy fix but not sure if that will be a common occurrence in the seats.

The 2024 Honda Pilot, 4th Generation, is a winner! I love the aggressive good looks, the new engine & transmission are just the right amount of power, and the all the usable space is perfect. Safety ratings are excellent, and Honda Sensing features are spot on! I always enjoy your reviews, they are always chalked full of great information and loaded with lots of content. If I went with the new Pilot, this would be the color combination I would choose. We have test driven this new Pilot already and it was our favorite 3 row non luxury SUV as far as driving dynamics go. The only things I wish Honda would add would be 3rd row sunshades like you can get in the upper trim Odyssey and I would like them to get rid of all piano black.

We picked up a 24 Touring.
The transmission was a little clunky when we first got it, but that seems to have smoothed itself out a couple thousand miles in.
The gas mileage isn't great coming from 4 cylinder CUV and sedan, but I'm loving the extra power. Curious what the turbo 6 in the MDX Type S feels like now.
The infotainment did seem small at first glance, but the taller aspect ratio gives it a larger feel than some wider screens.
Wireless charging maintains battery level rather than actually top it off but this seems to be a common problem of most cars so I just disable it.
In hindsight, I wouldn't mind having the extra camera options of the Elite, as well as an interior camera to see the kiddos (the conversation mirror is too small). Maybe I'll install the heated steering wheel down the road. Also, I wish there a panel of some sort to cover up the hooks on the floor when the middle 2nd row seat is removed.
Otherwise, loving it so far. It drives smooth and feels light despite its size. I admit the panoramic sunroof, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, safety sensors, ambient interior lighting, hands-free tailgate, and Bose sound system are all nice features to have despite me thinking they were unnecessary. The grey interior is also a nice change of pace from the usual black.

I was glad the screen wasn't any bigger in my case. I think 9 inches is plenty! I often have long items that will stretch out to the dash and am glad to have some clearance to the right of the screen for dash usage. Love having a non turbo or hybrid car. Just a good old 6 cyclinder is welcome before they do away with that! Love the size of the car. The only thing I wish I could have had was a tailgate glass that opened separately from the main door. Good job, Honda!

The screen issue seems overblown. Yes it would be nice if it would be bigger but I can think of a lot of things that matter more. For instance ride, handling, safety, reliability, acceleration, cargo space, seat comfort, looks, fuel economy, engine smoothness, are all bigger factors for me.

Great review. Very concise. I traded in my 2023 Kia Telluride EX for the 2024 Honda Pilot Elite. I am not regretting it at all. I owned a 2015 Honda Pilot Touring edition before the Kia. For me, the Kia was just to quirky and in the 14 months I owned it, I had 3 recalls and one warranty fix. Even when you compare the Telluride SX X-Line trim level, there's almost nothing that Honda doesn't have compared to the Telluride, and there's a lot of features it has that Kia lacks. The driver interface is much better, IMO. It's more intuitive to access features. More storage in the doors and cubbies on the Pilot. I do wish the Pilot's display was a bit larger and tilted toward the driver. In that respect, the Kia wins. The Pilot's towing package is standard on the Trailsport trim, but you can get it installed on any other Pilot model. It took the dealer about 4 hours to install mine.

My wife has a near new CRV Touring that has been bullet proof but a tad small for anything but local errands. I am a big guy (6’3”) and I have a GMC Yukon Denali so we use that for trips and my stuff. We are not young and I decided to replace the CRV with an intermediate size SUV for ease of entry and egress. I am a car nut so been through Kia Telluride( best rated intermediate size SUV) Hyundai Pallisade) both loaded with the most options in premium levels and rather luxurious… Lincoln Aviator ( wonderful space and luxury but circa $70,000)… Qudi Q7 also pricey, GMC Acadia … roomy and well appointed, Jeep Grand Cherokee… higher trims are quite nice and roomy enough but for you are spending a large part of purchase price for Jeep’s off-road capabilities( we don’t do that). Most of these brands price out similarly for loaded trims at mid $50’s. Some of these 2025 brands are looking at decent changes and upgrades so I will sit on the fence for a while until we
move past the current Bidenflation. Great review incidentally and I don’t care for any nav’ screen much under 12in. these days. Bigger screens are much easier to use safely while driving and easier on old eyes.
