Audi makes beautiful sedans, I’ve owned an A5 cabriolet and currently drive an A5 Sportback S line. Wagons (Estates) don’t sell well in the US. Everyone is enamored with SUV’s . I’m guilty as well, my other car is an BMW X5! Audi sells a lot of SUV’s, Q3-Q8, it doesn’t make economic sense to bring wagons to the US market is too small!
The wagon variants sell at SEVEN PERCENT of the sedan rates. SEVEN PERCENT. Audi sells as many Q5s in 5-8 days as it sells Allroads in a year. People look at them, go "that's hideous", and buy an SUV with good proportions, better headroom, and easier step-in height.

Once known for their elegant interiors, Audi seems to be following the trend toward lesser finishes and putting all the controls on the big goofy screen. This must stop! With the new model number system, what will the models we now know as the A6/S6 and A7/S7 be called or are they going away.
Very cheap looking interior. It's sad when GM /Cadillac screens beat the Germans. Gloss black plastic everywhere looks terrible. Capacitive steering wheel buttons suck. Didn't VW learn anything from the GTI screen disaster? I have an Audi TT, and the interior is WAY better than this.
This is exactly why the giant one piece screen interior designs are a huge mistake. This interior has zero character or presence, just like the new bmw’s. Just makes every car from Hyundai to Ford to whatever blend together.

The issue is full touch for everything at the expense of the much easier to use and less distracting physical controls - full touch should be illegal. And the gloss black is hideous as are the new steering wheel and super cheap looking flat Audi rings…

The list of competitors is so erroneous and misleading. The competitors are the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, and Volvo S60 not the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E-Class, Volvo S90, or Genesis G80. Acura and Lexus have consistently positioned their TLX and ES vehicles as in-between options within those segments. Genesis G70 and Lexus IS are also a bit smaller. KBB, you’ve done better! 😮😮😮

The A5/S5 line competes more directly with the 3/4 series (not 5) and C class (not E). The upcoming A7 (gas replacement for A6) will compete with the higher segment (5 series, E class)

@@ALMX5DP Correct. They’re reverting to the DCT which is more fun to drive but a nightmare when it breaks, which it will do. If this car appeals to you then lease it.
@@hardykornfeld1733 The DCT is very reliable and the ZF8 speed isn't exactly cheap when it fails. I strongly prefer the DCT in my 2014 S4 to the ZF in my 2018 S4. It almost ruined the vehicle, being sloppy and laggy outside of dynamic mode (which was hyper-responsive and had to be manually engaged every time you started the vehicle.) I kept the DCT in my 2021 A4 and 2024 S3. The 2014 had some issues with stop-and-go traffic and getting started on a hill with a bit of a crunch. The newer models don't have either issue.

Buyers "deserve" the options that they actually, you know, buy. If 23 options sold, they'd offer 23 options. They offered options between the A/S/RS and their convertible, Allroad, SpOrTbAcK, variants of the 5. Add in the A4/S4 because that's getting combined into the 5. The coupe didn't sell. The wagon didn't sell. The convertible didn't sell. You're removing the coupe A/S/RS, the Allroad, and the A/S Convertible, smashing 4 and 5 together, and you're down 8 or so options, dramatically simplifying the lineup and saving tons of money in the process.
The tacked on jumbo screens, piano black and capacitive touch all scream cheap. Not good for what they are probably going to be charging for this thing.

I will buy a b9 rs5 and not wait for the b10. The Sport seats are beautiful. What a disappointment the new A5/S5 is! It looks so generic, like it was designed by GM or Hyundai. And the interior is overly-digitalized. I think I speak for most people when I say customers want actual buttons, switches, dials, which are more driver-focused. Digitalizing everything just makes using the controls harder.

I owned a B8 S4 and currently drive a B9 S4. The B10 is a step backwards, particularly the interior. Looks like my next ICE car will be a BMW.

The S5 does not compete with the 5-series, G80, S90, E class or Lexus ES lol. It competes with the IS, C-Class, G70 and 3-Series. Not sure how you automotive companies get this wrong.

What a disappointment the new A5/S5 is! It looks so generic, like it was designed by GM or Hyundai. And the interior is overly-digitalized. I think I speak for most people when I say customers want actual buttons, switches, dials, which are more driver-focused. Digitalizing everything just makes using the controls harder.
