It doesn't look to flicker too badly or cause frequency lines (What is that called?) the way most LEDs do on the background. Do you think these would be good for music video production work?
The Ape Sticks don't have a DMX connector on them, but with the Ape Labs W-APP, you could control some sticks and some other Ape Labs fixtures from a smart phone or tablet. Fixtures can be assigned to one of four groups on the remote, and the remote can be used to control any group, or all four at once.
I think for me it comes down to "does the price justify how much better it makes my performance" on this product. I've tried them...and returned them. Couldn't justify it.
Yikes! they are $250 ea. and the box of 10 is $2800...nice units but way too pricey. I was thinking about sticking a couple on my JBLs like you showed, but $1,000 just to do that isn't necessary. :(
Yes, and rechargeable. The charging port is on one end of the Stick; the on/off switch is on the other end. With a splitter, the PSU charger can charge up to 3 Sticks. For the Tour Pack (set of 10 Sticks), the Road Case is the charger.
@@briansredd its not that its pricey so much as just how exactly is that price justified?? It's a $20 lamp with a $5 remote. Businesses have every right to earn a living but this seems way beyond reasonable. I'm a fan and buyer of what I perceive as premium products for work and play, this isn't coming from a cheapskates mind. Cheers
@@chadnliz2k11 I don't know, I think to really make a statement like that, you'd need a lot more information on what it took to bring this to your door. I mean, don't buy it if you don't feel it is of value to you. The whole notion of "overpriced" or "too expensive" does bother me because that's the same stuff people shopping for our services say. They don't know what it takes to bring them our services, what our out of pocket expenses are, or what it would take us to just break even on a gig, yet they say this stuff anyway. What that does is puts the blame on you for their inability or unwillingness to pay, and that's just wrong
Ok so not to devolve into a arguement I'll just state my opinion, this is a product that is several established products merged into one. LED lamp, remote control, and magnets, its evolutionary not revolutionary. If you see a true value at $250 each not being sponsored to promote the product that's cool but I promise it takes merely a fraction of retail price to bring this to market. Again, 2ft of LED lights in a tube, with a couple magnets, and a obviously low cost remote......its $250!!!!!!!!
Overpriced isn't the word you are looking for. It's purpose built for us, so it's going to cost more than, say something we adapt to our needs that was actually built for theater. If you either can't afford it, or are unwilling to pay for it, that's cool. To just deem something as overpriced because of this is getting dangerous. Why? Because that's the same crap you might hear from a customer who does not like your fee. They have no idea what it costs you to provide this service, or what it takes you to stay in business at a profit, or to break even, yet they say stuff like you are "too expensive", which is a lie. What they've done is put the blame on you for their inability, or unwillingness to pay for you & your service, and, that's bullshit.
@@briansredd sure, all good points, but this product if you take it a part is overpriced! I didn't say its expensive. I said it's over priced and hyped up! And it's ok all chauvet stuff is overpriced for what they do and all the adds they need to run. I believe once this product will have competition it will be much cheaper and and more successful. Once it will be around $100-300 for each they will be able to sell more but then it goes in to supply, can they make more and still have resale value and add value to DJ. We can see what Bose did in the past but competitors are winning now
Brian, these are AMAZING!!! Thank you so very much for sharing these with us.
Amazing powerful lights. Can also be used as a work light during set up or tear down
Length 62cm.......I'm still a European, well, until 29 March 2019.
These + Chauvet Freedom sticks would make a really awesome show
I truly love the videos your doing, the product info and Table mods are AMAZING!!! Thank you so very much for sharing these with us.
Can you use them for facade up
lighting.
These would look great behind a facade (white scrim, obviously) good video.
Can also attach using self-adhesive magnetic tape/discs from Amazon.
Clicked on this because the thumbnail looked like a Star Wars trailer. Wasn't dissapointed :D
Nice and portable. I wonder being on the speaker how will it perform with the sound react? Thanks for sharing
Thank you! My brain is churning! Infinite possibilities!
Hi Brian, did you ever figure out how to turn off the standby mode on these?
Thanks
Hey @briansredd, what is your preferred transport/case for these ape sticks?
Thanks for posting.. There are barely any information on these. I'm a new DJ and I think these would look amazing on speakers.
Thinking aloud here, but this seems like a good thing to use with your phone/tablet charging station idea.
Looks awesome. How long could you run these before battery dies?
8 Hours is the estimated battery time
briansredd - confirmed!
Good choice, I just bought my maxi a few weeks ago :-) Maby I have to get some sticks too...
How do you turn off the standby mode?

Wow! Great idea and super portable. What type of storage do they come with if at all?
Hello! How did put the sticks on stand by mode? I just ordered 2 sticks on Ebay. Thanks
Hi Brian, are the Apesticks spash proof like the Maxis ?
Been looking for something exactly like this, just a shame they're so expensive! =(
Can you dmx these with other fixtures

Needs to be wireless dmx controllable at this price point
They are
Very cool
Great light. Too bad they’re so pricey.
Yeah not a cheap date or a budget fixture
I don't see them as very useful except to light up a facade.
How much
@@DamienCross66 I'll do more vids, but they wash really well!
@@briansredd I'm looking forward to it.
I was thinking, how about using them to uplight the underside of white draped tables?

No they are not going to be in everyone's budget

RGB or RGBA
I don’t care I’m American! Lol exactly my thoughts to those that complain 😂
Way too much money! I'd be a fan at $99 each but that seems steep too.
Yeah, not going to hit everyone's price point for sure
