Hola Brian. 😎🫶💪🚀
in your Situation, it's definitely 1,000 times better and I get that. I Support you all the way. as for me, I'm a Huge lighting guy. I Can't get enough and I also collect a lot of retro American dj fixtures simply because I Love it. I Actually took an Old set up (mixed with modern speakers/mics) to a Show that was themed around the 80's and everybody loved it !
The Ape labs coins look fabulous but the most recent edition of Both Lighting IR4 can’t be beaten for value for money. They are wireless, have DMX addressing and can be controlled by a Both Lighting App or an IR remote. You set one light to ‘master’ which sends a signal to the rest of the lights set to ‘slave’. The footprint is very similar to the Ape light you were holding up except with 4 LEDs rather than 3. I imported directly from China and the lights were delivered by carrier to UK about a week later with a small amount of duty to pay on arrival. The lights have been perfect in operation. My best ever lighting purchase!
Using the app to control the lights opens up another world of very cool programs that can complement the song you are playing. Terrible R.O.I. But nothing else compares to them. Not even close.
Beyond all you mentioned, I think Ape Labs is superior is because they don't use lithium-ion batteries. Instead they use Ni-MH batteries which 1)Lasts Longer than Lithium 2) Don't pose any threat of exploding 3) Charges 50X plus more than lithium batteries 4)Can be air mailed. 5) Cheaper to replace....... Drawback---takes longer to charge
I suggest you look at the BOTH IR4 mini uplights. Approx $700 for a pack of 8 and they weigh less and do all that you state. You can easily slave and master them and have wireless dmx capability if you choose to use dmx. One remote can control them all.
Not really similar in terms of functionality unfortunately. I have both the Ape Labs lights and the Both lights and there's not much comparison really. Okay light output and size is comparable but that's about where it ends. And I'm not hating on the Both lights, I have 50+ of them. They're a fantastic value for what they offer, but the functionality is where the Both lights fail in comparison. The IR remote is garbage, even on their original versions that were RF remotes it didn't always work and some of the fixtures may or may not turn on, some colors don't change, or there's a delay before changing, etc. Also the "sound active" on the Both lights is a train wreck and virtually unusable, all random colors all flashing randomly. No uniformity at all. In my opinion that was one of their biggest failures with these lights. It was like someone dropped the ball on that aspect. You can make the Both lights behave like the Ape Labs lights but then that takes an Ape Labs Connect, wireless DMX transmitter and a tablet (which is how I use them when I use them) but there's some additional setup time, additional equipment needed which is additional cost and it's because of these reasons Brian uses the Ape Labs products. The simplicity cannot be beat.
Thank you Sir, also I did the math and I came up with almost $6.000 dollars on the 12 light in your piano roll intro. I hope they gave you a deal. You sold these lights to me but they are out of my price range.
Hey Brian! I have 12 of the maxi's version 1. I recently bought 2 of the coins and I can't seem to get them to sync with the maxi's? I tried putting them in separate groups and then syncing all groups, this worked for a short period but then they 'fell out' any ideas? I thought perhaps as the maxi's were older and maybe need updating? Thanks Anton
Brian your videos are the best! Thanks to your original video reviews of Ape Labs Lighting I sold all my lights and when all in on Ape lights!
Cheap? No. Amazing? Yes. Worth every penny and then some. Sometimes simplicity is the best thing.
Really a superior product. Absolutely love them.

Really cool. You're right it takes a lot of work and cabling and I've wasted a lot of time with dmx with pretty average results!

Seeing your videos convinced me to swap to ape labs

This will be my next investment.
Not cheap but worth every penny.
Good information and video, here to support and learn. Lighting is my weak spot
Thanks! You have so much great information and helpful content, I appreciate you for all the help you give to the people that watch your channel. 👏

Well said, BSR...
Only thing worse then shining the lights in guest eyes is the Strobing Lights, that’s a Seizure waiting to happen. I still See DJ’s strobing lights!!

IR is in the name...

I have both. Ape Labs' MusikMode is untouchable. It's pretty amazing compared to any sound active mode from any other manufacturer.
Both lighting plus soundswitch will get you close. Soundswitch auto modes are decent enough.
Are you talking about sound mode within the BOTH atrribute options.....or is there a separate soundswitch option to allow for sound active?
Always wanted to get me a dmx controller. Just never pulled the trigger... nice vid stay safe... edited. Well watching now
Have they always been $469??? Or did they go up?
The new stuff is priced different I think

How many do you have to use?

What model are these?
These are Maxi 2.0 I'm using in the main video. The lights against the garage in the clip are Ape Cans
They’re cool. But $470 each cool? That’s damaging when you need 20
I have 24. Best investment I have ever bought. Buy them in packs of 6 with charging case.
How much are they the ape lights?
Unfortunately above my budget
