sadly pantera is no longer, two of the founding members have passed away, dimebag (shot in a nightclub) and his brother vinny who passed due to medical reasons. Dimebag in my opinion is was one of the greatest guitarist ever. I had the privilege of seeing Pantera twice

As a Texan, you definitely need to get familiar with more Pantera. They are from the Dallas Metro area (Arlington I believe). They're legendary in metal and really brought that southern groove metal into being. IMO they're the best musicians to ever come out of Texas.

@@elijahloveell8809 Correction... Phil (you know the guy no one in the band could get along with) has been called out for being a racist multiple times. That being said, I can't recall any of their lyrics that could be construed as racist. I don't know the lyrics to every Pantera song, but I do know most of them, and I can't recall a single lyric that made me think Pantera was racist as a kid. There's plenty of musicians that are horrible people in their real lives, but you have to be able to separate the person from the art.

the guitar player is Darrell "dimebag" Abbott, he and his brother Vinnie Paul - Drummer, Rex Brown is the Bass player, and Phil Anselmo is the singer. Pantera broke up and Dime and Vinnie formed Damageplan and while on stage Dime was murdered 12/08/2004. Vinnie Pauil went on to form Hellyeah until his death 06/22/2008, heart issues, Rex and Phil still alive. you wont find a bad Pantera song and you needs to see Domination Live in Moscow.

I love Pantera! You're saying it right. Everyone else has given you plenty of backstory. You should listen to and react to a song that not many people react to. How about Regular People, It Makes Them Disappear, 25 Years, Becoming, Shedding Skin, Hollow.... I don't know. Google them and pick a song at random. It'll be a killer tune. They don't have bad songs.

Pantera..one of my favorite bands..you should check out Jinjer, Teacher Teacher or Pisces..its a female singer with a very wide vocal range.

The band was formed in '80s Texas as a glam metal band, they went through a lot of musicians and singers, changed their sound to groove metal in 1990, this singer is "Phil Anselmo," the drummer "Vinnie Paul Abbot" died exactly a year ago from a heart attack in his sleep, the guitarist "Dimebag Darrell Abbot" was shot in the head on stage in 2004, and they're one of the best metal bands of all time. I highly recommend, if you haven't yet, "Pantera - Domination (live Moscow '91)."

It was the bassist of Slipknot that died back in 2010. Slipknot's drummer was fired in 2013 and one percussionist was fired a few months ago.

Singer is Phillip Anselmo, guitarist is Dimebag Daryl and drums is Vinnie Paul,Dimebags older brother, both deceased now ...Dimebag was murdered in 2004 on stage, Vinnie died not long ago from medical reasons. Pantera has been around since the early 80s and has played with Metallica. Awesome band, awesome sound. Taken away too soon.

One of the most moving songs ever, and heavy as fuck too! When my wife died in 2003, I played that song every day for about a week to try getting all the crying out of my system. She left me incomplete, like Phil screams in the song. She didn't really leave per se, she was taken in an auto accident, but I lost her all the same. We were both pretty big Pantera fans. I still am.

Unfortunately this band is not together no more. The guitar player is known as dimebag Darrell he was murdered on stage while performing and his brother recently has just passed away. I was friends with Daryl a lot of people don't know he loved to bowl when he was not on tour. Daryl and I've bowled many many games at the Arlington bowling alley. He was one of the most genuine people you would ever meet and would take the time to speak to fans. Daryl is my friend. I miss him dearly. song you might want to do buy them and you will get a lot of requests for this to cemetery Gates do the live performance it is the best. I also have another band you might want to check out they are a symphonic metal band they are called nightwish. Song I recommend to start you off with it's called ghost love score live at wacken 2013. It is absolutely mind-blowing and impressive. Well I'm going to let you go enough babbling for now. So keep on keepin on

Unfortunately two of the former members did pass..They broke up to do separate projects but then the Guitarists was Sadley, Gunned down at a Gig...and His Brother the former Drummer had recently Passed of a Heart Condition...The metal Coummintty and Other bands keep their Spirits Alive througu Tribute Shows etc.
The ex-drummer of Slipknot is still alive. His name is Joey Jordison. He left the band because of illness that left him unable to play. He has since recovered and is playing with a new band called Vimic. The one who you're thinking of that died was their bassist Paul Gray. He sadly died of an overdose in 2010.

Dime is a god on the guitar vinnie is a god on the drums. In 2004 dime was murdered on stage live in Ohio and in 2018 vinnie Paul died of a massive heart attack. Rip my brothers.

SLIPKNOT Paul died he was the bass player, Joey was the drummer that was replaced and newest to be replaced was Chris the guy with the long nose the percussionists/backing singer.
