Mr Hennessy is legit the perfect teacher. He’s strict when he needs to be but really wants the best for his students. You know he could have a laugh with you as well as give a detention when needed.
Yes, I had a teacher just like that. I had to go into his lesson to ask him for some rulers because we had run out. He did this comedy routine where he tried to look for the rulers in his shoe. He eventually went to the back and got a handful of rulers. He gave them to me and I told him, I only need one. His head dropped and the class burst out laughing. Apparently he was in a really bad mood before I came in so that made me quite happy

the teachers telling jessica to "adapt parts of her personality" for the real world really just speaks to how restricting the uk school system really is, trying to put kids in boxes. there is nothing wrong with jessica's personality: she seems hard-working, intelligent and sensitive. all the teachers should be worried about is whether she herself is happy and confident.
I agree
timestamp?
100% she's just mature above her age, which doesn't matter outside of school because you work alongside all ages on the same level.
I think their intentions were to get her to collaborate more with other people but it’s sad that her personality wasn’t rlly accepted
The headteacher was concerned that socially she was lagging behind, despite being very intelligent. She was in danger of becoming a socially-isolated adult. She wasn't trying to get her to conform to the norm, but instead was helping her to prepare for the real world. Getting her to edit the newspaper was a clever way to channel her ability and enthuisiasm in a way that involved her cooperating with others, rather than sticking in a bubble. Great teaching imo
That boy who wrote something into Jessica's Box first, made her day. If I ever meet that boy I will full on hug him x

How has leah got 8 GCSEs with B-C grades with such irregular behaviour? She's really intelligent.
That's what I thought tbh. I was like her in terms of not liking being at school, serious attendance problems in high school, despite getting good grades all the way up to around age 14. I put in almost a token effort during the last couple of months as i was in danger of flunking my exams. I ended up with 6 GCSEs at that grade, so did worse than her. I think maybe 1 or 2 kids in my year (about 130 pupils) got better grades than me. The school I attended was in a really poor area of Liverpool, so most children (and their parents) were not interested in education, which made it a "challenging" learning environment. The area (Knowsley) is currently in the bottom 1% for living standards in the UK.
Ok but no ones gonna talk about how she’s getting away with smoking on school premises

Exactly they do the smallest thing good at get all the praise its annoying. I get they need a bit more help but this is how kids go 'bad' cause they want praise to
