    Only just discovered your channel and 3D printed RC and just wanted to say wow! Brilliant job! Well paced, clear build details, super helpful! Eclipson should use your channel for all their build tutorials. Thanks HobbyView. Keep up the great work!

    There should be print settings in the prusa slicer to prevent the print head from passing inside the print volume. That would prevent strings from forming inside as the print head will always take a path over a printed area. It will take a lot longer to print of course.

    On my Ender 3 normal retraction of 6mm works fine with a extrusion multiplier of 0.5 giving weights just below 3d labprint values.
    temperature at 225.Love the material it is almost like having a plastic balsa easy to cut and sand, and the layers are almost invisible. I haven't painted over it yet but the finish would suggest it will adhere fine.

    I must not be getting notifications from RUclips because I have not seen your videos in a long time. Great to see your video here. Interesting PLA. Less weight but stringy. Makes me wonder what causes the stringy character. If there is another setting or that is the way it is. Any rate. Still great to see your video. Hoping you and your family are staying safe.

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  3 года назад

      Make sure that you clicked on the Bell icon as well as subscribe.
      The LW PLA expands when heated, so I presume that is why retraction doesn't work very well.
      I did a lot of experimenting and anything over about 1mm ultimately would cause issues. And the new Prusa printer has a really good extruder drive mechanism.

    Thanks for the video on LW-PLA 3D Printing, can you share information on your slicer settings? I noticed that the Cura settings that Eclipson provides are not very good for LW-PLA. Also I'm not impressed with the support from eclipson with regards to print quality issues.

    Awesome Vid. I am in the process of printing one myself, but using the standard PLA all around. I am debating about reprinting the wing in LW-PLA to save on weight in the future, since the wing is removable, but that material is twice the amount in price. How did you address the pitting on the cowl towards the nose? I'm debating about adding top layers, but still considering how many. Cheers.

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  2 года назад

      You could try adding an additional wall thickness.

  • @JuanRodriguezArchitect

    have you considered Fiberglass over PLA. Im doing that on my PRANDTL and its makes the model fly better since it's stiffer and of course if you crash ....you can fly it again.

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  3 года назад

      Technically, yes. But it may make some of the dimensions off standard. You would need to experiment, plus you would need a much bigger printer or slice it into smaller pieces.

    Omg how many chuffing adds you added . Got bored of suffering all the adds .

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  3 года назад +2

      Sorry about that. RUclips automatically does that. I have to actually manually disable the midroll adds. And RUclips doesn't allow me to do it when I upload the video. So I have to remember to go back at some unspecified time to manually disable them. It is not a creator friendly thing to do.
      Please contact RUclips with your complaints as those adds annoy me just as it does you.

    Hi have you thought about printing without any retraction, so each layer is printed in a smooth continuous line?

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  Год назад

      That sounds a bit like "vase" printing mode.
      Note that many new designs are now optimized for LW-PLA printing.

    • @Patrick-857
      @Patrick-857 Год назад

      That's only possible with some geometries. Vase mode means you can't have any internal geometry at all, and only one outer layer. Not ideal for this application.
