hey Travis and Suzie, hope you guys are doing good, I'm bringing you Def Leppard, the song I chose is Hysteria which released on their tenth studio album of the same name in 1987. the song itself is about finding spiritual enlightenment. you'll notice the drummer has one arm and that's because he lost his arm in an accident, the band stuck by him and waited until he recovered and got a special drum kit made for him.

I found a couple current bands that have a 80's sound to them. Check out 'Final Girl' by Electrik Youth and 'Los Angeles' by The Midnight.
Their album also titled HYSTERIA is Def Leppard’s best selling album. The title was thought up by drummer Rick Allen, referring to his 1984 car accident, the amputation of his arm, & the ensuing worldwide media coverage surrounding it. It’s the last album to feature guitarist Steve Clark before his death in 1991. 😢

The title of the Album Hysteria Rick Allen came up with, he said "the car accident, the amputation of his arm and the mass hysteria around the worldwide success of the album was Hysteria". It was also the last album that Steve Clark was apart of, Steve did have songs he co-wrote which appeared on the next album Adrenalize that came out after Steve's death in 1991. We love you Stephen Maynard Clark, gone but never forgotten.

Hysteria is Def Leppard's 4 full length studio album . Their first studio album was released in 1977 it only had 5 songs on it but it still sold 22,000 copies . On Through The Night was their first full length studio album , it was released in 1980 & it had 10 songs on it . Their second full length studio album was High ' N ' Dry & it was released in 1981 it also had 10 songs on it . Their third studio album was Pyromaina & it was released in 1983 it also had 10 songs on it & it was their biggest album to date at that time because it ended up on Billboard's top 100 albums as the #2 album in the world right behind Michael Jackson's Thriller . Then Rick Allen had his car wreck on December 31st 1984 & they stopped working on the Hysteria album until Rick Allen either came back or came to the rest of the band & told them to replace him . But thankfully he was able to come back & finish the album & go back out on tour with the band . Their Hysteria album still holds a record today , it's been more than 36 years & no one has tied or broke the record . The record that their Hysteria album holds is , that album had a total of 7 singles on Billboard's top 100 count down from August of 87 - October of 88 & 6 of those singles were in the top 10 .

This album and song got its name after four years of unimaginable strife, set-backs, re-starts and troubles threatened to derail the record at every turn. And the legend goes that at one point drummer Rick Allen, while assessing the situation with exasperation, said "This is hysteria!!"

It’s an absolutely hypnotic and beautiful song. So many layers that don’t bury the song but actually enhance it. Timeless track.
Their first two albums were their best.
I miss this era so much. 😢 The women were hot, the music was great, people connected more than they do now because there was no phones, no computers, no video games. Just go cruising and listen to loud music. You see someone you knew at a hang out spot, you stop and hang out. Nowadays people don't meet people or hang out in person anymore. Life felt like life back then.

A good Def Leppard song to check out is “Pour Some Sugar on Me” they have two music videos for it. The UK version has them in a house and you get a better view of their drummer Rick “Thunder God” Allen.
To get the slow motion blurring effects in this song, the band had to perform all the parts at twice the speed of the song, and then it was slowed down to normal speed to get the cool effects. Also, there are up to 10 simultaneous different guitar parts in sections of this song - which is why parts of it (like the chorus) sound almost like an orchestra.

I'm not sure if you know this, but the producer of 'Hysteria' was Robert John 'Mutt' Lange, who was Shania Twain's ex-husband, and who produced her most successful records.
