You guys are too young to remember, but for a brief moment in 1989, NO ONE was bigger than Def Leppard! They were the biggest band on the planet and "Love Bites" hit NUMBER ONE and dethroned Michael Jackson! The entire Hysteria album according to producer Mutt Lange is all killer and no filler! They had SEVEN songs off this album that charted on Billboard top 40!

They still are the biggest band in the world!

1987 rock albums: Hysteria, Appetite for Destruction, The Joshua Tree, Permanent Vacation, Whitesnake, Tango in the Night, Kick, etc... 1986's Slippery When Wet & 1988's New Jersey were also gigantic. "Love Bites" hit number one on the Hot 100 in October of '88, about under a month after "Sweet Child o' Mine" and over a month before "Bad Medicine". Michael Jackson's last chart-topper that year was "Dirty Diana" (from 1987's Bad) in July, which was dethroned by Cheap Tricks' "The Flame". Def Leppard's only single release in 1989 was "Rocket", which peaked at number 12. The Hysteria World Tour had ended the year prior. The best-selling album in the US during '89 was Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel ('88).

They had a total of 7 singles on Billboard's top 100 count down from August of 87 through October of 88 from the Hysteria album & 6 of those 7 singles were in the top 10 .

    RIP Steve Clark.
In true Rockstar fashion...He always had his Les Paul strung as low as it could go and he still could reach it to strum.
    Next Level.

Def Leppard formed in 1977 , I was 2 years old when they got together . They are just like a family because they were together touring for 6 years when Rick Allen had his car wreck that took his arm & if you watch VH1 Def Leppard Behind The Music . You'll hear Joe Elliott say that they wouldn't kick him out of the band because he's family . It's now 2022 & this band is still together , 45 years of kicking ass in the music scene & for 4 of them to still be original members , is amazing . You guys need to check out some stuff off their new album Diamond Star Halos . Check out Fire It Up , Kick , Take What You Want & This Guitar .

Great reaction. Def Leppard has been together for 44 years though. Their newest member joined in 1991 (because of Steve Clark's death) I think that is what you were referring to. Very loyal band

I’ve seen korn linkin park Evan essence and fly leaf at family values concert and the Energy doesn’t compare to a Def Leppard concert. I will say the love the band has for each other spreads to everyone there watching them.

The drums are electronic, that's what gives them that "80s" sound. Lots of bands used them in the 80s.

I went to see Def Leppard back in the 80s at some point, but I can't remember what year. A co-worker of mine asked me if I would give he & his date a ride to & from the concert, he would buy me & my date tickets (he didn't have a car). I agreed (of course) and it wound up being such a great show, I bought my _OWN_ tickets next time, when they went to the next city (I think it was Biloxi, Miss.) That "in the round" venue should be used by _ALL_ bands. There's literally not a bad seat in the house. Also, the stage rotated as they played. It didn't look like it was rotating in this video, but it _was_ the 2 nights I saw them.

Def Leppard is an interesting band because it's difficult to pin them into a specific genre. They sort of SEEM to some like a "glam metal" band but they're definitely not, especially since one of the requirements for being in the "glam" category was wearing makeup (somehow history has ignored this part and put bands like Skid Row in that category which is insane). Def Leppard is technically a band of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). But I'd put them solidly in the soft metal or hard rock category.

Having only heard the lock shields chorister in the interest of these videos I am very curious to hear it and its entirety. Especially curious about the title itself as it seems sci-fi... Or perhaps describes how to interact with Troublesome people. In the Star Trek universe one does not "Lock Shields" they "Lock "phasers or Lock other weapon on the target they intend to shoot at is its form of aiming through the computer.. And they in fact" Raise Shields" as in apply power to their protective screens" when it comes time for combat so I'm very curious about the mixed usage of the terms here. Should be fun

I remember this concert in Omaha...either just before or just after this. I believe Tesla opened for them. Awesome show! You guys REALLY have to react to PLUSH - Found a Way - off their debut album. It has a very 80's vibe to it and know you would really dig it. You already did their debut hit Hate. Now that the album dropped pretty much every song on it (13 of them) are all bangers - not a skippable song on it.
