That may all be true, yet I must wonder if the songs might not have been just as good with a much simpler production. From my understanding, these recording sessions were brutal, repetitive, boring, tedious, and dragged on and on. Does it really take a week to tweek a snare sound to make a great record? Maybe cocaine had something to do with producers wanting to produce everything to the utmost degree. I have little doubt Def Leppard would have been awesome even if they had been recorded like the Beatles or The White Stripes or Prince - quick and dirty and it's done.

Probably my all time favorite band. I'm a 80's kid, grew up on mtv when it was brand new. Def just hit me differently. Deeper. I'm 49 and it still hits me there.

Def Leppard is an awesome band. I was lucky enough to see them in concert when I was younger. To see Rick Allen play the drums with one arm was truly amazing.

At very loud volume the natural overlapping harmonics in this song will put your heart into a natural high. You will resonate. It's a secret weapon to creating a hit. You can't resist.

It took me a long time to accept Def Leppard as heavy metal when Pyromania came out. Photograph was the first single and it was played on rock stations but Bringing On The Heartache is hard rock and I’m good with them as a rock or hard rock band but metal is another level. I saw them on Pyromania and Hysteria and they put on a great show. Love Bites from Hysteria is a great song!

In 1983, Def Leppard did to radio what Nirvana did in 1991. DL opened up for Billy Squire when their “Pyromania” album was released and totally overthrew the tour. Def Leppard is the OG of the “Rock Ballad”, and started the “Big Hair Band” genre.

You’re not far off from saying it’s like the beginning of autotune and complex digitizing. They pulled out all the tricks and invented new ones for this record. Including layering in around 100 backing vocals. Even the tone of the guitars were painstakingly created by modifying the Rockman (Tom Schultz’ creation from the band Boston). Everything they did makes this album sound huge.

Like the saying goes best I remember "Appetite For Destruction was the last big rock album recorded, mixed and mastered
with analog vinyl/cassette in mind and Hysteria was the first big rock record with digital CD in mind". I'm sure I didn't get
      it exactly right but close.

I never understood everyone's obsession with this song...not one of my faves, but it's cool for vibin'. Mutt Lange was so instrumental in their sound...actually Mutt has his own sound that you can hear through the different artists he's produced. Let's dig in to older songs! Like Photograph, Rock Of Ages, Billy's Got A Gun, Bringin' On The Heartbreak, Rock Rock Til You Drop, Stage Fright.

Hysteria is pure nostalgic romanticism. In concert, it is the point when the audience really feels connected to the band, the music and each other. I would recommend listening to “Hysteria” live from the “In the round, in your face” concert video (It is on RUclips). If for no other reason just to watch Steve dancing with his guitar and being the epitome of cool.

What a show! 2 80's titans of rock at one concert.

I LOVE that she jams out to this song. I'm so old but back in the day Hysteria was the best make out song. I remember meeting up with this girl that I was head over heels with at our local skating rink. We sunk out, had my gettoblaster (aka, portable stereo), popped this in and spent the whole night kissing. We were kids. We didn't f**k... Just kissed and felt each other. I could have died that night as a happy kid. One of the best songs ever made.
