Hysteria is one of the best records ever. Not a bad song on it. I just love it 😍
Agree!!!
If i could only choose One album as the best of 87, Hysteria would be it, for sure. Followed very close by a huge list of great 87 albums of course 😉
@@conan5885 yes there where a couple of great albums that year
Rock of ages is actuality way more rock than mainstream rock. Photograph Rock of ages Bringing on the heartbreak are must listens❤❤❤
Def Leppard can’t be put to just one song. They have a variety of sounds and songs. To me you just can’t go wrong with any of their songs.
"Billy's Got a Gun" (one of the best closing tracks on an Album- its off of "Pyromania," which is a very solid Album! ) --- "Photograph" - "Rock, Rock (Til You Drop)" --- "Too Late For Love," --- "Rock of Ages," "Bringing on the Heartbreak," and "Foolin' " are some earlier songs to enjoy! The CD and tape of "Hysteria" (the Album) got worn out several times during my middle and high school years.
I second these recommendations!
I agree but one to really show of the band is Bringin on a Heartbreak from the Live: In the Round concert video. Amazing band live and it really captures it.
@@JJJ-014Great list. I always loved Mirror Mirror as well.
Billy's one of their most underrated, awesome song
Rock, Rock (Til You Drop) is one of my favorites of theirs just because it straight up sounds like an AC/DC song. Apparently they wrote it while on tour with AC/DC and Joe Elliot sings it almost exactly like Brian Robinson would.
“Love bites” is the power ballad, They broke out hard rock radio with their “Bringing on the Heartbreak” in 79 or 80
81 actually
1981
Steve Clark dying changed the bands trajectory more than Rick loosing his arm...
to a degree, but the 90s onset of Grunge also changed their direction. Slang in point, which would have been the next step with or without Steve. Slang is ages like a fine wine. It is magnificent. The point of Leppard is they never just stop and rest on their past hits. 2-3 albums released every decade
With Def Leppard, 'Photograph' was a monster hit back in the day (before Hysteria). The Hysteria album as a whole was a great collection of songs to enjoy having fun at the park or beach. Good times 🎶🎸
Can't go wrong with Rock of Ages. Great song.
Hysteria was one of the biggest records of the 80's. The whole album is a masterpiece.
what I'd give to be 16 in my jeep driving along the beach at sunset listening to this again... hysteria will always be a vibe
Let the good times roll
Right with you Jen. Those were the days
Hit “Photograph” and “Foolin” to crank them up a notch.
Def Leppard's first album "On through the Night" was a young raw band. The song Rock Brigade stood out. But then for the 2nd album, High 'n' Dry they worked with producer Mutt Lange (AC/DC) & you could hear the growth. The first 4 songs, "Let it Go', "Another Hit and Run", High 'n" Dry & "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" are all bangers. Then "Mirror Mirror" on side 2 is my favorite.
Their 3rd album (Pyromania) came out and they had a completely different look. Joe Elliot got rid of the perm, lightened his hair and they came out with their first concept videos. A great album with some rockers & other songs designed for more commercial success. It was the transitional album between a harder sound, and the much more commercial 4th album. They were on a path.
Hysteria their 4th album was designed to be a huge commercial successful album, and it was. They spent so much time in the studio working on it, and polishing it. (The Rick Allen accident happened during this time). They struck gold,. They released 7 singles over an 18 month period, all of them were at the top of the charts, and all over MTV. An AOR executives wet dream.
R.I.P Steve Clark 💕
"Too Late for Love" and "Foolin" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Animal" is one of Def Leppard's most rock songs. Definitely check it out.
My favorite all time Leppard Song...This came out my senior year of high school, and is etched into my soul forever...
0:58 Kudos for how much you were impressed by the loyalty of the band. First time I learned that, I too was totally blown away by it. You just don't see that very often in life. They really stuck by him.
The world moving on from rock music was inevitable and to be expected, but I never expected the instrumentation to die off. If kids don't learn instruments anymore, I don't know where our culture goes.
This is from my favorite album of theirs but, the songs that made me a Def Leppard fan, are from the previous album. "Foolin" and "Photograph" are highly recommended.
It took a while for Leppard fans to warm up to this album because it wasn't the same hard rock that we had been expecting. I'm looking forward to seeing your reactions to songs from their previous massive album, Pyromania.
"Photograph"
"Foolin'"
"Rock of Ages"
Disagree my nephew at the time was all over this album Rocket and Pour some sugar.. Saw this tour at Alpine Valley and Sold Out.
@@stevenseul361 disagree with what?
Idk. I loved Def leppard early and loved this album straight out of the gate. Was just happy they didn't split up after Rick's accident.
No one warmed to this album, Leppard fans jumped all over the moment it came out and loved it instantly
@@MegaBadseed um, wrong. Sorry. First single and second single did nothing. Album sales were flat. 3rd single was "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and that's when it exploded. Then ppl relistened to the first 2 singles and then the following singles were all big. Just because you liked it doesn't mean everybody did. You can't argue with radio play and album sales. Both of which were flat until the 3rd single.
Hysteria and When Love And Hate Collide will always be my favorite Def Leppard songs.
Well I'm old enough to have seen these guys in concert (Joe Eliot with mullet!) Still love them.
The song Hysteria was made for the radio..it's a power ballad and was aimed at the female audience as back then the girls wanted to rock but they also wanted to have a good heartfelt song sung to them as well...they loved the relationship songs and power ballads were what drove in the numbers and money in the 80s hair era...
This is off "Hysteria" the album they were working on when Rick Allen lost his arm. The preceding album "Pyromania" was a huge record, and they wanted to top it. It took about 3 years to complete, waiting for Rick to come back, switching producers twice, and finishing writing.
They needed to sell a massive amount of albums just to break even. Needless to say, they did, and the rest is history.
Definitely not early Def Leppard. Go with Bringing On the Heartbreak for a great early Def Leppard song.
that was the song that introduced me to Def Leppard. I was 17 years old in early 1983 and watching MTV, going through what all 17 year old boys go through, and the music video came on, and Joe Elliot sang straight into my soul with that song. I have been a hard core Def Leppard fan ever since. and imagine my heartbreak when the news came out about Rick Allen's accident and I wondered what they would do. Well, the group showed the world exactly what they did do about Rick Allen!
Go even earlier too! Hello America, Wasted and Rock Brigade off of On Through The Night, their first studio album!! Great stuff!! 🤘
@@kingscorpion7346 Kudos to the band for what they did for Rick Allen. Admire them for that.
Steve Clarks contribution to Hysteria cant be overstated all of the great riffs on the album are because of him. Miss his creative playing on all the future albums.
First time I noticed them were for the videos of Bringin On The Heartbreak and Let It Go from the album High-N-Dry in the early MTV days. First time I saw them they opened for Billy Squier and I was hooked!!! That was such a great show and a great time in music. I miss those days. If you want their biggest banger... PHOTOGRAPH!!! Great reaction as per usual guys!!! GO BOSTON BRUINS!!! 🍻🤟👏
Early Def Leppard was flat out rock - try Let It Go or High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night)
Photograph and Rock of Ages are also bangers.
“Photograph” is probably their most famous hard rock single.
Based on views, "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is the most popular.
Great song.
Decades ago, the moment I received this LP via US Post Mail, I held a pre-conceived notion Hysteria would be a hard rocking track. First listening session, I hated it.
I immediately played it again & broke down in tears, applying song to a personal event affecting me at the time.
Absolute Perfection.
so privileged to have heard these and other songs as a teenager in the 90s... MTV generation.
This is from the same album as Pour Some Sugar On Me. Some good older songs are Bringing on the Heartbreak...Photograph...Let it Go
I saw them open for Ozzy with his Blizzard of Oz tour and then saw this tour also...... great band.
Brings back a flood of memories for me. So good. Me and my ex GF album and song. Such a good album.
Def Leppard wrote some of the most catchy rock songs ever. Especially their first several albums. Pyromania/Hysteria/Adrenalize/Slang/Retroactive.
Let It Go,White Lightning,Bringing on The Heartbreak,Foolin',Billy's Got a Gun, Excited, all great DL hits!!
This brings back memories of when I was 17. We’d drive to the lakes in Philly and hang out. Then we’d go to the races on Front st and Enterprise Ave. We were always in and 350 IROC. Great memories.
High n Dry, bringing on the heartbreak for early hits
I still blast this song with my windows rolled down. Makes me euphoric.
I have seen them in concert 3x and all were FANTASTIC!!! One of my all-time fave bands. When you hear then you immediately know who it is.
Growing up in the 80's, this was the first group that I totally fell in love with. Great band!
Oh my goodness...I'm 51 and Def Leppard is my favorite band!!
My favourite track from the same titled album, Steve Clark was a legend RIP 😎👍
Check out Def Leppard - Photograph - Foolin - Rock of Ages - Rocket - Love Bites - Animal - Armageddon it - Bringing on the Heartbreak - Pyromania
Hysteria is an amazing track off of an amazing record that propelled them into superstardom. As a lifelong DEF LEPPARD fan i love this song as well as this entire record from top to bottom. Pour Some Sugar on me which you mentioned is likely the most famous track on the record, although rocket is an outstanding, fun journey through their musical youth. Gods of war is my personal favorite track on the record. Hysteria is also one of their two Diamond award selling records. The RIAA gives out this award for albums that sell more than 10 MILLION copies. THEY are 1 of only 22 artists in history to have multiple diamond selling albums. Their other diamond selling record is PYROMANIA, which is in my opinion their best record with HYSTERIA coming in a very close second.
Best band in the world to me since 1981, saw them 2022 with over 45,000 people, and they've been together 45 years, pretty good longevity!
These guys were and still are great.
Bringin' on the heartbreak
Photograph
Rock of ages
Too late for love
I love Def Leopard videos because every single member is incredibly charismatic!
The boys are what they call a true family on stage and off!
Love hard-rocking Def Leppard, but have to say This is my FAV of them all!
This song is from the Hysteria album, which is the same album Pour Some Sugar on Me was on.
This album had seven singles chart. The 2 you have listened to, Rocket, Armageddon It, Women, Animal and Love Bites.
My 3rd all time favorite Leppard song.
RIP Steve Clark. He was Def Leppard.
Been there from the start and always loved the band - so do I still!😍Thank you for all the fantastic moments! RIP Steve.
Seen them in concert several times awesome cool show, great song, good review 🤘😆🤘🎤🥁🎸🎸🎸
This was like one of the coolest songs ever for me back then. Really put them on the map for me.
I'm one of the grateful one's who got to see DL for this tour. To see Steve Clark live in concert was just amazing!!
The concert was one of the best concerts I've been to, next to seeing Journey in 1983 and 1986.
Next up - Die Heart The Hunter, Photograph, Too Late (For Love), Fooling, Bringing On The Heartbreak (studio and then live from Denver), Stage Fright!!
My favorite Lep tune of all time is Photograph! Definitely have to check that out!!
Early Def Leppard! Hello America
I was lucky enough to see Def Leppard live one snowy winter night, the band only managed to get to the venue via helicopter otherwise the concert would have been cancelled at the last minute, lucky me. The concert was awesome.
Great reaction to a great song! A personal fav Def Leppard song of mine that has an upbeat tempo is Let's Get Rocked 🤘
Ah, they are both great!! They have so many awesome songs!!❤❤❤
Great reactions guys!!👍👍👍
Let It Go was an early banger from Def Leppard. You’ll definitely hear the difference in their earlier stuff I think but they have so many great songs to choose from. Hope you’ll keep diving into them!
This really put them on the map back in the day.
Great reaction to a great song. Big Def Leppard fan here. Just seen them in 2022 in Indianapolis,Indiana and they were great. Love your reactions. Keep up the great work.
Def Leppard is very diverse. And they have some of the best harmonies of any band out there.
Def Leppard Amazing band hard rock 70/80 MAGIC song.......
One of the greatest stadium bands of all times, even to this day! You should see them if you ever get the chance!!
listening to this song with my eyes closed.
like driving my spaceship through the galaxy
The whole album ‘Hysteria’ is great. Six top 20 songs on this album.
Def Leppard is my favorite 80’s band of all time! Love bites is my favorite
I was only 13 when I first remember hearing them. They we're huge when they hit the scene! Still some of the best tracks ever made.
This song relaxes me. Love it.
Their harmonies are incredible!!!
"Let It Go" - Good one to rock out to. Or anything off High 'n Dry.
Some rock songs, that many rock groups experimented with were called power ballads. White Snake's, "Is this love?" Even April Wine's, "Just between you and me!"
Beautiful song.
Hysteria has been my favorite song of Def Leppard since it was released... That said, they have many great songs... Bringing On the Heartbreak, Foolin', Rock Of Ages, Photograph, Animal, Die Hard the Hunter, Love Bites, Armageddon It, Woman, Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad, and many more...❤❤
Oh yes guys/ladies, if you really want to get to know this band, “Bringing on The Heart Break”, And all things “ Pyromania”! “Rock of Ages”. “Foolin”. Pick a song , any song!! Have fun you two crazy kids lol!!💙🎸🌹Rose is for Sam!!
"Photograph", nuff said!
Maaan! This song was the soundtrack to some of the best nights of my life. The 80s really was awesome.
Great 👍🏻 memories with this one!! ❤
Favorite Leppard tune
Plzzz do more Def Leppard :)
Takes me back to my high school days listening to them Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice and on and on
Title cut of a great album. I had this on cassette tape back in the day. Auto-reverse tape deck in my car as a teenager. This was often played in it.
RIP Steve Clark. Such a talented musician
NOT ONLY THAT....HE IS A GREAT ARTIST!!!!
I have to admit, I totally blew it with this band. Had several opportunities to see them live for free, but living in LA in the 80s there was so much going on and with all the media hype over the upcoming release of Hysteria I just tuned out. They have since become one of my favorite bands.
Def Leppard #1. Rock of Ages is a rockin' hit. 👍.
Rock of Ages for Sure! You started off with what is arguably their greatest hit ever though. Hard to top any of them. I got to see them 8/8/24 and they can still rock out!
I was in high school when this came out, I love it
nice reaction guys.. not surprising that samantha really likes def leopard. they were known to have a high female following for a 80s rock band. this is likely due to the heavy use of melodies in their music which is a common technique of "mutt lange" productions (i.e. bryan adams, shania twain, ac/dc, etc). it creates music that stays in your head long after the song is over and frequently favored by the female sex. it also fits well with joe elliot's voice and general tone of the band. i would also highly recommend "armageddon it" from the same album which sort of an in between song of the other two. enjoy! 😎
Wow! Everybody is talking about "Early" Def Leppard and not a single mention of any song from their debut album on through the night. When they came on the scene. Harder edged not as poppy.
For early leppard before they evolved, check out. It don't Matter, Wasted, Hello America, Sorrow is a Woman, Rocks Off, Satellite.
Any of these will sound like a completely different band. Before the mega tours! I remember buying that album so I would know all their material before their first tour in America!
Photograph will always be my fave
Def Leppard was never a heavy metal band... they often said that they were musically closer to Duran Duran than Iron Maiden... But they did have some stellar hard rock songs early in their career:
"Foolin' " ... 'Photograph' ... 'Let it go' ... 'Wasted' ... 'Hello America' ... 'Stagefright'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Bringing on the Heartache - Early Def Leppard that put them on the map!!! Very hard and you want to do the long version with Switch 625 outtro! Its a banger!!!
Let it Go off the High and Dry album was an absolute banger and is hard rock at its finest! This song got lots of air play on album rock stations.
Jesus I miss being a young kid in the 80s! New subscriber
THE Best POWER BALLAD of the 80's hands down!
