I personally wouldn’t really consider him essential in a set like this even if his inclusion would sweeten the deal for me. As much as I would like to get him in a modern day set I don’t think grevious star fighter would have been a good inclusion. Perhaps our best bet might be if we get more clone wars based sets as opposed to episode 3 sets.
If they added Grievous’s Wheel Bike, A Varactyl (Obi-Wan’s Lizard Thing), and a second Airborne Trooper, then maybe this set would be worth $80. As it is, $50 max.
Eitan Frank I could exclude the wheel bike since that was released in a £20 back in 2014 however they certainly could have included the lizard and another clone trooper since that clone is not included in any other sets currently so it should have included another one.
Looking at price per part it should be around 40 maybe 45. So ok we have 3 figures and the Star Wars license so make it 50 or 55. That's the realistic MSRP this set should have had. On the open market it would be sold at 20% off as is basically always the case with Lego these days, so we end up back at 40-45 ish. 80 bucks is plain and simply ridiculous. Dealers won't earn anything under 60. And that's already a tough sell. At this point I think Lego is just trying to gauge how far they can go. They just want to experiment and find out how stupid we actually are. If they end up making more money by selling less but at higher prices that's probably fine by them. So please I implore any of you, don't buy it. If you're a dealer, don't order it, you'll just make losses off this thing. Show Lego that they can't get away with their out of hand pricing strategy. I bought this set for about $40 shipped with only Obi-wan included. I think that's a fair price for it. It's a great-looking build, and was pretty fun to put together. The play features are well hidden, the moving parts are smooth, and I love how the nacelle storage compartments snap closed. The retail price is absolutely stupid though, and it's the second set in a row to be hideously overpriced because Grievous is in it. I also suspect (consistent with early rumors) that the random trooper was SUPPOSED to be Commander Cody, but he was replaced with a generic late in production so they could put Cody in a CMF series.
This is better than the knights of ren ship, and not as overpriced as the AAT. Also I like how the all the sections of the video are grievous references!
Jack Arthur this costs £10 more than the knights of Ren ship and still includes the same amount of figures? It should have included 2 of those clones then I would consider it okay for the price they gave it.
The way this particular ship lands, it’s actually supposed to have the fin flipped all the way up and the body leaned back. When it takes off, the fin lowers.
Hey Jang, from the looks of it, it appears Obi-Wan is not burned from post-mustafar, but rather scratched from a possible close-quarter fight with Grevious. Then again, the instructions book could label him "Post-mustafar" and I wouldn't know!
I owned the 2010 version of Grievous' Starfighter from the Clone Wars lineup, it did feature the tan-colored General with a special operating robot, simple chair and an extra Jedi called Nahdar (who teamed up with Kit Fisto, unfortunately not included to fully replicate the scene). It had extra play features such as hidden blasters on the side, a bit more texture (blame the stickers) as well. While I can respect the design, I feel there's a bit of a downgrade from 2010 (10 years is fine to remake a set but that's how good the 2010's version was). But the price sure is ridiculous and with the inflation in Canada, there's no reason to pick this set. Also, another thing is that Grievous' arms can easily break from playability which reduces both the value and identity of the minifig. And there's no excuse for Obi-Wan having the wrong clothes, because they got it right in 2014 for the Wheel Bike set which featured both Grievous (the cheapest way to get him in this same color as featured on the 2020's Soulless One) and Kenobi with the clothes from his battle on Utapau. The Wheel Bike served as an excellent addition to the 2010's Soulless One so I've to predict we'll see a remake of the Wheel Bike, third time's the charm? Since the adjustment to inflation in Canada, LEGO has become more expensive than a video game for much less. I recently got the buildable NES and I feel like it had more value at first glance than most playable sets. Again, we find value in different things. But considering they can get it right (1989 Batmobile) and wrong (this Grievous' Starfighter), it's quite a mystery. At this rate, I would accept a UCS rendition of the Soulless One with a redesign for Grievous since they're gonna charge a premium for a small-scaled version of a starfighter that you see from time to time.
The reason for that obi wan fig is because this set is supposed to represent the fight between grievous and obi wan, so it makes sense that obi wan is a little roughed up
Besides the price and figure selection, the only other change I could think of is the colour. I was they used the old sandish tan colour like the previous iterations as it fitted the colour better.
Sixteen cents per part isn't so bad ..when you consider set 5119 had only four pieces and retailed for ten dollars, USD (in 1993!) ...of course, said set was a motor, bought through Lego's Service hub, but let's not get technical. ;)
This is SGD 130 in my country and it broke my heart. I'm slowly getting back into Lego star wars and this set caught my eyes immediately, especially when I don't own an obi-wan and grevious minifig yet. I was willing to pick it up if it was under $100 in my country but 30 dollars over that is just too much for this set especially when they could price the current version of the X-wing at a way lower price point.

I seem to remember the tail acting as landing gear in the movie.
Nope, there’s a landing foot just in front on the tail fin
it's kinda the other way around, the fin folds up when landed and comes down when flying
I like the reference when he started the video with, "Hello There"
The timestamps on this video are sublime.
These time stamps are just awesome
What happens to this ship after Obi-Wan docks it in the Tantive IV?
JANGBRICKS: "hello there"
Me: *instant like*
Props to Jang for calling out his bias
I can't wait to go pick this up...
When it's half off
Sixteen cents per part isn't so bad ..when you consider set 5119 had only four pieces and retailed for ten dollars, USD (in 1993!) ...of course, said set was a motor, bought through Lego's Service hub, but let's not get technical. ;)
For comparison, you could get the Monastery of Spinjitzu (more than double the parts and content) for the same price as this. Absolutely crazy.
Nice set, crazy price. Prefer it over the Night Buzzard tho, might be more expensive but at least you're getting a full ship
At first I didn’t really think of the 80$ price tag, but then I finished building it and I was definitely a little disappointed
The lightsaber compartments are a really nice addition. I hate having to shove them in the cockpit or clipping them to the ship
The blue pin in the back can be swapped with a dark grey technic axel pin 3L and it would look best.
Waiting for the 75288,i love that set, already own it and cant wait for a video about it from your channel
Proper clone face. Finally
Great review! Pretty expensive set but very detailed!
