Finally reviews of this monitor started coming in thank you! Liked the video
I am shocked at how good this review is! Why is your channel so small? Subscribed.
I appreciate it, and even more coming!
Same thoughts, when researching new tech and I put in a new model number and get a bunch of unknown channels I groan. This time I was very surprised, awesome review and professional content, got a sub from me.
I thought the same, his reviews really helped me make the right monitor choice to go with my Alienware M15 R3.
Great review coverage. Thanks for being the first one to get a review up. I bought one for casual/single player gaming and productivity. I know it's too much money, but it's a perfect combo of size, resolution and features. My old 34" Alienware is now for sale ;-)
Thanks for this great review! Just the little push I needed to purchase this monitor. I've been using it for three days now and it is indeed awesome for both gaming and my daily usage :D
The comparison of the 3 overdrive modes was excellent. Thanks for the review
The review is very detailed and understandable.. 13 minutes that worth it each second.
Congratulations, you've got +1 like and subscriber.
Call Dell and tell them they owe you some money. I watched this video a few times, as well as your video on the 34 trying to decide. Then I went and ordered a 3821, they owe you some commission brother. Great presentation.
Thanks for the great review! I am glad I found your channel today. I plan to order this monitor very soon. Subscribed!
Ooohhh I see you hittin those snipes on Cold War too! 🤘🏼
Excellent review, as always.
Great review, you were certainly an influence on my taking the plunge and getting this monitor. I have no regrets! It is excellent (as a bonus it has the least back light bleed I have ever had on an IPS monitor).
Thank you, glad I could help!
What color settings did you use just received mine and it is amazing. Great video btw!
Wow, Dell sent you 5,000$ worth in equipment, and you still manage to put forward an honest and bipartisan review! Subscribed immediately

i think you need to learn the definition of bipartisan before you use it in conversation.

Thanks for the review. Ended up picking this up in Australia for $1,315 USD black friday deal!
Nice man!!
Excellent review , thanks!
I love the detail you put into these reviews. It has really helped me since I am currently deciding between the AW3821DW and AW2721D. You said that you couldn't really notice a difference between super fast and extreme. In the same way, I'm curious as to whether you could notice any tangible differences between the 27 and 38' in terms of responsiveness and input lag. Also subscribed! How could I not haha.
Haha thanks! And 100% the 27 inch is faster for sure.
Get the 38” if you want a “luxury” gaming experience with the most immersion
Get the 27” if you want the best of every world. Content creation accuracy (the same as the 38) super fast response time with high refresh rate gaming, and just a sick overall monitor for the price.
damm epic review man you rock. love the setup. looks great omg i want the odin desk pad PURPLE LOL
Great review, and great looking monitor. Need to buy this next time it is on sale.
It's still on sale on their deals page. It's still full price on the main page, so they have it kinda hidden.

Really great review, here's a subscribe sir!
Thank you, and I’m glad you enjoyed!
Love the video, what do you think is the better productivity and gaming combo. This or the Samsung G9?
This on the only English review on RUclips! Great job. You should do the acer x38 comparison
They both use the same LG panel.
thanks for the comprehensive review. does it support Picture by picture ..?
Just ordered mine . I've been watching and waiting for a price drop. I'm so excited.

Awesome video, thank you for the review!
What monitors do you consider "competitive"? What is the ideal response time for a "competitive panel"?
Also, are there any alternatives to this monitor in the 38", 3840x1600p range?
I only know of the LG 38WN95C-W, but that doesn't have the dedicated G-Sync chip... How does that one compare to the Alienware 38" in your opinion?
Keep up the great work, man :)
what a stunner this is ! great review, thank you for that.
does it make a sense to use this monitor featuring G-Sync Ultimate with the upcoming Strix 6900 XT LC or wait for the rtx 3080 ti coming out on February ?
thank you.
I’m not too sure, supposedly G-Sync Ultimate works with amd gpu’s but I don’t have one to test so I’m not entirely sure!
still waiting for this to be released in my country. definitely coping one.
gonna be a banger as always
100% Haha
Great review. Really starting to look at this monitor as the price has since dropped to around €1250 in my country.
Thank you, a couple of questions:
- You haven't mentioned anything about the color depth and response time settings, what's the dif and which one do you prefer?
- How would you compare this one to LG CX 48?
Very helpful review - for the ‘work from home’ and ‘slightly above casual gamer’ that enjoys Alienware products very much - I just purchased for $1300 (big sale currently going on). I’m excited to get this set up and anxious as to how big it is in person. I have the Alienware 27in AW2720HF which has been amazing and nothing negative to say about it. I just am fortunate to upgrade to the 38 as I have wanted to experience how immersive the curved monitor is.
Are you still enjoying your monitor?
I'm trying to choose etween this and the LG C2 4k oled. I'm swaying to the ultrawid because it will primarily be used for spreadsheets
I love your content keep it up.
Will dooo
Nice review, can you put your hands on LG 38GN950B i want to get one of those but the panel tuning of LG is another level, want to know how they compare !

Great review! You got my sub when I saw you playing destiny LOL. I have been looking at this monitor and also the LG 38 inch ultrawide. I am leaning more to the LG since I currently have the 34 ultrawide. But overall this is also a superb monitor. Thankfully I have a 2080s to run it but I’m still looking g for a 3080.
Haha thanks! And yeah I think a 2080 super is fine! Especially in destiny you prob won’t notice a massive performance difference
@@TooMuchTech Great review, sub'd also. btw, you think RTX 2070 SUPER XC ULTRA+ will struggle in ultra settings? Currently, I am running a 3840x1200 screen and getting 55-70 FPS in most games... What do you think?

Great video man, does this have the KVM capabilities of the U3821DW? I haven't found anything about it anywhere, so I'm guessing not.
Nice vid buddy, can you tell me if the image quality is better on this or is equal to aw3420dw...
This uses an LG 38GN950-b panel.
excellent video. What is the recommended minimum graphics card to move this monitor beast?
Hello, thanks for the work and video: Please tell me 3090 video card can play top games with maximum settings?
Do you recommend buying this monitor or not? Is the picture high-quality, beautiful? What are its downsides?
Great video!!! I was trying to determine if I should go with this the Odyssey G7, or the AW3420DW. What's your advice?
Odyssey g7. Better monitor if you have the money lmao
U can find the 3420DW for cheaper now since this will be out. So might as well snag that one on a clearance sale of some sorts
I ordered this monitor on Boxing Day, for $1400CAD. Roughly $1100 USD, comes in after New Years! Thanks for your review!
Thanks for the review!
Does it also have the built in KVM, as in the U3818DW?
Did you find out man?
appreciate your efforts to try and get AW to drop this price sooner rather than later=) Definitely picking it up, just a matter of how long I can hold out...

Thanks for the great review. I can see you also reviewed the "Alienware 34 Ultrawide" about a year ago. I would be really interested on your take in comparing the AW3821DW vs the AW3420DW. No one seems to have done that yet. I would be interested in your opinion on what the best value for money would be between the 2 monitors, and how they compare in terms of if 1 has a major or only minor improvement over the other for movies, games and general productivity etc.
The 34 inch. They both have the same nano IPS color, the 38” feels like it’s a tad brighter but not really much at all. If I only needed a one monitor set up and it’s between this and the 34 inch and this is 400 more, I would go with the 34 inch.
@@TooMuchTech Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. To give a little bit of background, in my case I had bought the AW3420DW with a 36% discount which saved me around £475. I then found out about the AW3821DW release a couple of days later and wondered if I had just made a mistake, I did some research to see what exactly was noticeably better with this newer model and found your awesome review. Based on my own research and from what you covered, my impression was it didn’t seem to justify the extra money for the AW3821DW, or the hassle of going through the returns process (I was still in the 14 day return Window if I wanted to return it for any reason).
In my opinion, when you start going into the money they are asking for the AW3821DW, you would want the monitor to have HDR1000, not HDR600. I would probably lean towards wanting a VA panel as well rather than an IPS, but I digress. Your comment confirmed my own thoughts and helped me decide I had not just made a mistake, so many thanks for your take on that I really appreciate it.
I just got this bad boy for $1,200.00 straight from Dell. February 2022. I'm coming from a 34" Acer X34P. I've got it paired w an i7 11700k and 3080FTW3. I'm really happy with it so far, I think it's the perfect size. I've been playing the Cyberpunk 1.5 release with Nvidia NIS scaling @ 3264x1360 and balanced DLSS. Everything set to high and then Ultra Ray tracing with only the reflections disabled and I'm averaging 80-95 fps, sometimes higher. Oh, and I work from home and the native resolution is fantastic for reading documents and all that boring stuff.
New sub, thanks for the review.
No prob and thanks!
Good review. Would you pay the extra $$ to get this one over the Dell U3818W assuming no gaming but productivity scope?
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the color of the U3818W but I do like the nano ips on this one 10x better. I do like the 3420 better IMO as i feel like I games better with the 34 inch
day 3 of asking if you’ve made any mods to your meshify c, the front is transparent from what i’ve seen in older videos, did you remove the foam at the front?
Getting this one for my trading set up
Wow I didn’t even know Alienware had a 38” ultrawide in the works. I’ve got a AW3420DW that I love...now I know what I’ll be upgrading to in the future.
Only if you reallllyyy need a screen that big, they look more or less, exactly the same lol
@@TooMuchTech lol I don’t need it but I sure as hell want it. Figure I’ll give it a few years to drop sub $1000, sell my current monitor and pick this up for maybe $400 after the flip. Love buying high end tech at a discount.
Great video. Thanks for reviewing. Just waiting for this to be released in the UK.
What do you think between this and the LG 38GN950-B?
They look similar in specs, I haven’t used the LG but I’m sure they share a similar panel. I think I would pick this for the G Sync Ultimate. If the LG also has G sync ultimate then I would pick the higher refresh rate
@@TooMuchTech both the same panels. The LG is G Sync Certified and the AW is Ultimate. Apparently the Ultimate comes with an annoying fan so people have said - any evidence of that on your time with it?
@@skatman3278 I was very concerned with this. I have yet to try this monitor but people with EXTREMELY sensitive hearing(I'm talking hearing the phone charger from across the room) does not hear it at all unless the ear is on the monitor. Who knows though, might make sounds later on. But when it's new, it's apperantly soundless.
@@SquarelyGames so I bought the monitor and I can't hear a fan - but my hearing is terrible several years in the military and working in data centres has caused that! Haha.
I'm one happy man right now. Easily the best monitor I've ever owned. Blown away with its performance.
Great review. I have a ryzen 5950 and a RTX3090. I do a lot of design and editing work so I was looking for an ultrawide like this. But a big chunk of my time is spent gaming. I'll be using this to play games like Warzone with my friends (play everyday). Do you think the superfast mode is good enough to play games like Warzone competitively with friends? How about for Gears of War? I'm also going to be using this for Halo Infinite on PC. I think it's perfect but the only thing holding me back is the response time. If the superfast mode at 6ms response time isn't so bad that I'd be at a big disadvantage against others online, I'm thinking about going for it. It's coming to $1,500. Should I do it? Is it borderline unplayable for online competitive games?
You should do a review on the glorious gmmk pro when it comes out
I will be
Nice review as usual, its what made me buy the 27 inch 240hz before, from your reviews haha
I do wonder how the pixels look in person with that monitor. Since its at 3840 x 1600 now vs the older gen 3440x 1440
I have the first gen 34 inch version of it. It is good for my needs.
But after I purchased a 4K monitor (asus 144hz one) to pair on a 3080, the 3440x1440 on my 34 inch started to look more blurry or how can I say, not as fine as 4K.
The games just look drastically different when played at 4K in person. Mainly with the higher pixel density, everything looks finer and clearer in details, music to my eyes.
Maybe one day a 34 or 38 inch 4K ultrawide, Or I do not know how they would name it.
What do you think about the Alienware 34” inch version of the monitor @ 120hz, worth getting or saving up instead for this 38” inch @ 144hz?
I think this monitor is actually really good for competitive, I came from having a 1080p 60 hz tv to having this, this is a massive increase and going from 60hz, i feel i can increase my skill now that im going up in hz, Its a game changer
Good content - Subscribed.
Thank you!
Leaving a comment for the algorithm
You the goat
Looks like they did drop it down to 1500 for now, which I agree is more fair. 1900 was awkward price range as it falls below HDR1000 monitors with full array dimming that are more like 2500 and up. Of course there’s a bit of that Alienware tax. Great review! Loved the input lag part, not many people cover that.
Subbed! Good to see someone that looks like me dropping top quality content. Any experience with the AW3421DW? I'm in the UK and that has dropped to almost £750 with discount from work. Buy that and call it a day or wait for this beauty to become available (no doubt at a considerably higher price) is what I'm currently pondering. I'm coming from dual Dell U2412m monitors from 2012 so big upgrade either way
I reviewed that one last year, it’s really good!
Your speech quality is so great. If they let you replace that dude on the ALLSTATE commercial it would be a 100% improvement. I totally agree with your video. This is the monitor made for us gamers. I've had MINE for several mounts and I just love it. The only things that I do not like are the location of the power and video cables. You can't see them unless you lay the monitor down and it's a very heavy monitor. I also have no love for the control buttons located on the rear of the monitor. I wish that DELL would have placed these on the front of the monitor (where I could see them). I do not like playing hide and seek when I use something.
this thing is on sale for a little over $600 today prime day. Definitely grabbed one for that price!!
Ima keep it a buck 50 your reviews are pretty fucking solid my guy. I picked up the razer terminater controller Cause of you thanks. And I subbed too 😂😎

i just watched your video on the alienware 38inch review good video by the way my question is is this moniter worth it its on sales now for 899 so makes me think are they dropping price dramatically to get rid of them because there not good and not selling im looking for a good responsive excellent color g synce compatible moniter
The timing of this upload was impeccable. Trying to decide between picking up the predecessor (aw3420dw) on sale or waiting for this big boy. If price wasn't a factor, how would you say they compare?

@@CorssairTF2 the 34 is only 120hz compared to the 144hz on the 38
Personally, 38 inches is nice, and if you’re rocking one monitor, I would consider it. Buuuuttttt I’ll be honest I do prefer 34 inch, it’s just more manageable and if it’s 500-700 less I would save that money and......build a keyboard lol
More vertical space
I see you're still rocking the EVGA RTX FTW3 Ultra (3090?)...can't say I blame you, that RGB is epic.
The monitor is pretty sweet, but I own the Alienware 34" and honestly prefer a slightly smaller monitor due to eye strain, but they do look cool for sure.
This monitor is very cool! BUT It is absolutely massive. And yeah I would prefer the 3080 but none are available yet as you know lol
@@TooMuchTech I have an EVGA XC 3080 and had issues with crashing to desktop during gaming. I had to remove the overclocking and decrease the core offset...hoping I don't have to RMA it. I say keep what you have if it's working! :)
Great review, subscribed!
What sound bar do you have with it. I’m thinking about getting the same monitor but I really want it to be sleek
Thanks for the review, on the back of this I bought one.
LOL So if it sucks, I'll blame you ;-)
This monitor is certified to HDR600, so it's better than HDR400, or no HDR.
I was going to buy one of the Superwide 49' VAs but I got spooked by how freaking wide they are, there is no way I could game on one of those. Though for work they would be awesome. I was also worried about how fragile they are, loads of people have accidentally cracked the screens on their 49's because the curved glass is so incredibly thin.
Once again, thanks for the honest review.
How did the monitor turn out for you?
Fantastic Review! My only question is - how does this monitor compare to LG 38WN95C-W (LG's latest ultrawide monitor of the same size, 38"). It's the exact same size and exact same price. Which one should you get?
Not sure, I havent tried that one but i'm sure the Nano IPS Panel between them is either similar or the same. but i think the LG is only G Sync compatible as compared to G-Sync ultimate. Personally, 38" Is nice and all but i would rock a 34 inch to game a bit better :)

Depends, I think the bigger screens are just nicer for productivity
can u turn off local dimming while using hdr?
Great honest review, not sure for the price this monitor is worth it and I would probably go with the LG 38GL950G-B
Not a bad option! Maybe I’ll test it in the future! But I agree the price is very steep but it is a performer for sure. Buy it on sale 100% if you go with it!
The GL is plagued with a loud gsync fan for lots of people
@@buster7618 thanks for the heads up!
I'm looking for an ultrawide monitor and can't decide between this and the LG 38GL950-B. What are your thoughts on the LG g sync model?
Yo dude im in a stroggle. U reviewed both units i have to pick between. Do I go 240hz 1440p or this? U currently have a 27gl850. Such a hard choice, but 240hz in fortnite, apex, cs go and maybe 175 in warxone(and not gonna hit in tarkov). I might really want to go for the Juicy smoothness?? But on the other hand, ultrawide should be pretty cool too. Also for working - i work for Dell and currently have two 24 inch Dell monitors on the side. I would play competitive games in a 27inch Window on this btw if i would hve it
Just a heads up dell still has a deal on this one, but you have to go to their deals. Their main page has it at full price. I just bought one for 450 off. Sign up for their newsletter and you you can get an extra 5% off.
Would rather choose the LG 38WN95C which is the basically the same monitor but it also has thunderbolt/usc-c as well as built in speakers (which is great when you, like me, use headphones 95% if the time but want speakers just for some RUclips videos etc)
do you plan on testing out the G pro X super wireless? weighs less then 63 grams and has MUCH better mouse feet. just curious if you were gonna give your opinion on it or not.
Yes I do, just waiting for it to come in and ship at the end of December
Is this worth 2-3x the price of the AW3420DW? The AW3420DW has been on sale multiple times for around $845
As of now, it's slightly under 1600.
Hope it can come to Europe before cyberpunk...
You measured 10s input lag is from the time you touch your mouse. The monitor should only be blamed for the time when the GPU sends the frame until that frame is displayed. This monitor gets 2ms input lag according to tftcentral, which is amazingly awesome.
Is this true? I was about to order it until i saw the part about input lag..
I've never seen someone compare input lag between different overdrive modes. It should not affect input lag, at least thats what I think. Maybe by a very small amount but not this much.
was looking for a monitor review but only saw your face
What mouse pad should I get for the taser viper ultimate?
How would a rtx 2070 super fair against this? Would it be able to push the pixels or would it be to much for the gpu?
I'm torn between this and the Odyssey G9. I appreciate the Alienware is probably more gaming-focused but the G9 would be fantastic for productivity as well.
g9 is not so good for gaming , you get like 25 fps on rdr2 with a 3090
yo love this video
Thanks!
Which is better? This or aw2721d ?
can you review LG's 38GN950B and do a comparison between those two monitors?
We’ll see, I have to get in touch with someone from LG to even consider doing a review
What happened to the 27" version of this monitor vs the G7?
Just got this from Dell brand new for $1286!!!! With $77 in rewards I can spend in 15-30 days.
How sharp is the image mate?
I've the 34 inch variant and a 27 inch 1440p.
My 34 inch one is defo not as sharp, so just wondering about this guy.
Does it have a fan? If so, was it noticeable? Asking since the LG 38 variant had several cases where the gsync fan was an issue.
Based off the reddit posters who bought this from pre-Black Friday sales, they say the fan is quiet and not noticeable unless putting your ear next to the vent. I'm concerned about how that does in the long term, but with the 3 year warranty from Dell vs 1 year from LG, this might be the best 38" high refresh Ultrawide at this time.
I've had this monitor for a few days now and can confirm that the fan is absolutely silent. I can't even hear it when my system is idle (Noctua NF-A12x25s at 600-700RPM).
Does anyone have some insight on wether this AW38 is better than the LG38 counterpart? I saw the LG for sale at Costco for $1599
