A great example of years of cooperation between the Belgians and Dutch . France would be an exelent partner as well as they current mine hunters where also a project of all three mentioned nations. The dutch and germans also have some good cooperation going on in the naval department . with extremly long ties . I would not be suprised if germay would join in these projects aswell.

mine countermeasure vessels shouldn't be much necessary when you already have dedicated guided missile multi mission anti-submarine warfare surface combatants . . .
Damen are the go to Company for Military Ships in the Netherlands, they have enough work with the Future Frigate Programme plus the MKS 180 for Germany.
@@paultanton6721 Likely also going to be a major component for the new submarines for the dutch Navy. They are busy enough the Netherlands is doing some pretty heavy defense investing
-OMG look at this! -What is it? a mega frigate? a stealth submarine? a fancy helicopter carrier?! -No its a boat with smaller boats But now is this legit a stepforward? I think that a modern destroyer can operate all those UVs and at the same time be able to attack and defende. The ship shown looks more like a ship you would send to spy on ISIS, not fight a war
We're also getting new frigates built in the Netherlands, for both our navies. These small ships are destined to be mainly used for clearing naval mines, though they are clearly more versatile than their predecessors.
@@hermes6910 There arent any operational ships that can deploy USVs, this doesnt mean a destroyer cant do it. In a war with a real enemy any ship operating alone in large numbers in the open, with no weapons at all would be just a tasty snack for enemy subs, frigates or even planes to attack. Needless to say that a russian sub can probably outrun this little thing and then sink it with a single cruise missile. A destroyer could deploy 4 USVs instead of 2, have a higher speed, the ability to hunt enemy submarines down when it spots them and the ability to defende itself. The ability to defende itself even if it gets sunk is very important because the enemy will have to use much much more weapons to eliminate your ship. So yeah, a destroyer hunting subs and mines make much sense to deploy out in the open, against a powerful enemy.
That may be so, but Belgium is considered top of the NATO in minesweeping. That's why they did the project with the sweepers, en the Dutch organise the frigate program...
That’s why the US navy ( a navy of over 350 vessels ) asked the Belgian navy specifically for aid during the gulf war for their specialization in minesweeping🤷♂️
I think this design will be a disaster on sea.If you take a good look of how the auv will be launched....some minor seastate and you will have a damaged auv.....
Very bad decision to let the France build this. Always too late Always extra costs And the France have the worst navy in Europe for 500 years. Next vessels could better be build by Damen shipyards.

The Royal Navy really needs to get in on this too , time to be Bold and generate more interoperability with the European navies
The Royal Navy has its own plans for Mine Warfare going forward.
