@@JTRogue151 Not... not necessarily. Marin wishes to be a seagull so she can sing beyond Koholint. At the end of the game, after the credits, a seagull goes by the The End. If you can beat the game without falling in battle (getting revived doesn't count, you have to be game overed) Marin is the seagull.
So if you take that literally, then the only way to save her is to beat the game without dying at all, and she'll get her wish.
Marin is... peculiar. She acts cute but those strange moments of sadism scare me...

If you beat the game without dying, the Wind Fish fish makes her real, in the form of a Seagull, which she wished to be.

the one time link might get the puh, and she's not even real
Her dream actually comes true. At the end, when the wind fish wakes and everything disappears there is a hand drawn picture of her and a seagull flies through her (which the seagull is her).
I remember playing this game as a kid and never fully understanding the back story, out of all the Legend of Zelda games this one to me stands out as the darkest. Especially the love Marin has for Link which has honestly made me tear up a little.

@@yakamashi8211 You could argue Link's Awakening IS darker because ultimately the world/Koholint Island is destroyed at the end of the game whereas in Majora's Mask, Termina is saved. (Majora's Mask is my fav btw)
@@yakamashi8211 This was a darker story for me personally, cuz everyone just vanishes when he wakes up, including his literal dream girl. Yeah they weren't "real" , but you still have to experience it. :(

Koholint Island and its inhabitants are solely the dream beings of the Wind Fish. Why Marin resembles Zelda is never explained, but its not about Link's mind.

You missed 2 interactions she likes it when you steal from the store and if you learn Marin's song for the first time in animal town it plays a different cut scene
If they still have the ability to take pictures in the game there's another 2 interactions that have also been missed in Mabe Village. One is next to the rooster statue Marin sings in front normally. It's to take a picture with Tarin, her and you in it and the other is in front of the Bow Wow house with the Bow Wow in the picture alongside a content Marin and Link. There may be one other at the fishing pond too.
You know if any new Popular game comes out. This man jumps right on that ship and hangs on for dear life

that's the beauty of abstraction in video games. where the audience enriches the experience by being part of it and filling the gaps with their imagination. you can't get stuff like this to work in movies

LA Link canonically is a perv. The whole “looking in chests/do you always look in other people’s drawers?” thing totally went over my head as a kid.
Then...of course the “necklace”, and the mermaid literally swimming away from Link if you dive too close (which got censored to “I said I’d give you a scale after you got my necklace back!” from whatever it originally was)

Anonymous Fellow I'm not sure that makes it canonical so much as the game having a sense of humor. It's not as if Link is ever required to look at the drawers or chase after the mermaid in-game. These are all options the player specifically takes. Similarly, you can steal in this game, does that make Link canonically a thief? I think not, because you can also choose not to steal. It would be one thing if there were story cutscenes showing Link stealing, but this does not happen. Something that is a game mechanic does not typically count as a canonical attribute of the character being played.
Plus, if game mechanics could be counted as canonical, that would imply that Koholint island exists in the same universe as the Mushroom Kingdom. And that these people personally know who Yoshi is in the first place. Or, perhaps more surprisingly, that the Mushroom Kingdom is a fiction of Koholint island. But it would be impossible for them to know who Yoshi is or the Mushroom Kingdom since they know nothing of the world outside the island, as stated by the characters themselves, and, if we take the ending literally, (spoiler alert:) Koholint island doesn't even actually technically exist. (Spoiler over) so the only thing that would make sense is that Mushroom Kingdom is indeed a folk fiction within this island. But there is also nothing in particular indicating this.
And it should be noted that these things are obviously easter eggs by Nintendo, so I digressed to prove something that didn't need to be proven. Much like how dying in game in a Mario game doesn't actually constitute Mario dying canonically, I doubt the player being silly and perverted constitutes Link being canonically perverted.

They did exist though. Koholint Island was a real place. The Wind Fish had the ability to make its dreams reality and those dreams were real enough that the Nightmares within the dreams managed to make the Wind Fish incapable of waking up so that they and their world could continue existing.

It’s...weird. Despite the dialogue being the same, GB LA made it seem like Marin had really weird kinks or was getting Nightmarized when Link attacked cuccos.

In Nintendo games I always see that the character who you play as says nothing and the others do...
I played this game on game boy a lot of time 25 years ago. I found pretty much everything about it.
And I still don't know about the cliff, being their secret place.
This is another reason why Zelda is such a masterpiece back then on the portable machine.

Also can you still take Marion to the mini dungeon where you get level 5(or6)'s key and leave her outside where upon finishing it, the owl exposition dumps on you right in front of her? That was what I did for fun.
