Are Hawaiians americans?
@@chronos5457 I can’t tell if that’s a genuine question…
@@chronos5457I can help. Yes, Hawaiians are citizens of the United States of America.
Is “fuselage” pronounced differently stateside though? I’ve always heard the last syllable “lage” as in “collage”
@@chronos5457 I think so. It's part of the USA.
This wasn't a Boeing defect.
This was the Hawaiian airline not replacing the aircraft after it had reached and far exceeded safety recommendations for a replacement plane.
It'd be like not changing out the oil in your car when recommended and being surprised when your engine dies as a result of your own negligence.
My friend's colleague was on that flight. He said the flight attendant just gave him his drink when he passed out. When he came to he thought the plane had crashed when he realized they were still in the air he through the pilots were dead and was thinking of getting to the cockpit. That's when he saw their arms moving around on the controls. He said what most people didn't realize was that it took over 20 minutes to land.
Wow I wonder how it feels 🤩
That sounds horrific! I would get nightmares about it. Hope he’s okay.
RIP Clarabel 🙏. I hope your passing was quick and painless. It was horrifying what happened to everyone just because of some careless and lazy mistake. They could’ve figured out the plane was way beyond its capacity 15,000 flights ago.
She definitely felt pain
She was probably conscious during the entire fall...
Did she fall into the ocean?
They don't know where she ended up. She was never found smh. @DonPetrushka
@@Animation_neoIDK, if she fell quickly enough her brain might not have registered the pain as she was hitting the ocean or ground
I remember seeing this on the News in 1988. Considering that the plane's interior was exposed, and the distance from any land, it was remarkable that they touched down with only 1 fatality.
I got one word. Jesus. Without Gods gaurdian angels it would have ended a lot worse.

They made a TV movie about this incident. For short flights, you have to keep your seatbelt on.
I built a Boeing 737 to re-enact that movie!
My seat belt stays on regardless of length of flight.
At least on the long flights i'v been they always told ppl to keep the seatbelt on unless you are going to the bathroom and on it stays the whole flight.
I always keep my sb fastened. It doesn't bother at all and feels comfortable
As long as you're in the seat you might as well keep it buckled. It's just your entire life on the line, y'know?
Brew is making me scared of everything now 😂
It probably won't happen in a long time again due to more precautions

Two things irks me about this vid. one is the obvious being that it isn't ONE mistake.
and the other thing is that people see boeing and assume it's the current day boeing.... Sadly that isn't the case since this plane managed to last Nineteen Years in service and exceeded it's stated limitations.... modern day boeing aircraft can't seem to last the month or quarter without a catastrophic issue popping up.
come on people this wasnt boeings fault
aloha airlines just wore this plane out
the fact that the plane didnt completely disintegrate in midair is a testament to the strength of the old 737-200
IT not only held together but landed... that flight station was barely attached... really need to put more respect on that Pilot and Co-pilot for that landing
Dude... look up Boeing planes... they cut corners at every possible turn to make as much money as possible. This is no secret. It's a common occurrence with them.

They broke protocol by having 15k flights more than it was prescribed for the aircraft. They could have avoided the whole incident if followed the rules
@@DonPetrushka It's entirely likely that it was presumed that while they were over the number of flights the plane was meant to handle, they were still under the 20 year maximum career, and thus would have balanced out.

It was not boeing's fault, aloha airlines wore the 737 out. And It Survived the whole ordeal. If boeing had something to do with It, do you think the plane wouldve Survived?
the mistake was letting boeing build it
Read in to this more the only times Boeing has ever had decompression issues was one of there own maintenence teams then the rest are bombs or Airlines lack of maintenence. I used to be afraid to fly when I was younger. However, I realized how irrational that fear really is. After all, you have nearly 3x better odds of winning the lottery than dying in a plane crash. And many of us will never win the lottery. Even if you took a flight every day of your life, it still wouldn't be very likely. The chances are even less if you're flying within the United States, as there hasn't been a deadly passenger airline crash in the U.S., for over 15 years.
It's more like playing Russian roulette than the lottery.
All that comes to mind is, after 15 years, it seems overdue
You said it right. At first I thought I heard “causing the rivets to become despondent”.
Nice work. Best technical explanation of this mishap that I’ve seen in a video.
Some 90,000 cycles? Aloha Airlines was irresponsible.
Thanks!
Disbonded. I would have thought it would be debonded?
It's easy to be afraid of flying when you know they refuse to hire qualified mechanics and silence those who object to malpractice.
Hi Brew. I hope you’re doing well! I love your videos ! Keep up the good work.
Imagine seeing a plane pull up to the scene with its ceiling missing?? That's crazy. RIP Clarabelle. The fact she was the only casualty is a miracle. Bless the survivors.
I knew this would be aloha flight 243, and it is. couldn’t Imagine the horror the passengers felt as they were going hundreds of miles per hour hitting their faces and thousands of feet in the air as they were slowly suffocating.
I’m so glad Brew didn’t make this video 2 months ago when I went across the country. 😬The pilots and crew on this plane were so brave, especially the stewardess who climbed on the floor helping people… RIP Clarabel.
Brew didn't make this video. His programmers did. This is how you program people to accept AI and think it's all good.
Nice video! It’s sad to see that ppl died in this horrible accident.

New fear unlocked: Airplanes
I don't have any worries about flying, but 1 in 11 million actually sounds way more common than I would expect. Almost 3 million people fly on planes every day. So that means, on average, 1 person is dying in an aircraft accident roughly every 4 days. Obviously that is still way better than other things, like cars, but still more than I thought it would be.
I have a flight today and this video makes me a bit worried ngl
Not the first video I have seen about this incident.
Always remember; If you made the drive to the airport, you've already survived the deadliest part of the trip.
I remember hearing about this story in the Mythbusters episode on explosive decompression.

Pretty sad I didn't see this yesterday when it came out I flew 4 hours with my little brother and I definitely would've played this mid flight to freak him out
Just one mistake? Surely theres others that follow that allowed it to even be allowed to take off...
People be saying “of course it’s Boeing” for something that happened nearly 35 years ago 💀
8:22 sounds like a quality issue right there...🤷 Though admittedly, it could have been worse, the plane was at the end of recommended life and together enough to land.
Super annoying that people don’t understand that the Boeing of back then isn’t the Boeing of today. Boeing planes had an unimpeachable reputation until very recently, and that’s only due to its current leadership. It’s like basing your decision to buy a Ford car based on its crash ratings from 1979

1 video, plus one fear.
To everyone scared of flying after seeing this video:
Every time an accident or incident happens it is investigated. They look for the cause and implement saftey features to prevent things from happening again. You probably get in a car everyday. You are more likely to be in a car crash than a plane crash. For a crash to happen is rare. Thousands of flights fly per day and land safely. The pilot's, flight attendants and other crew are trained for if something was to happen. The maintenance look after the aircraft and will make sure its safe to fly. The airline is also responsible for the aircraft. The manufacturers can always make mistakes on the aircraft but, when a mostake is found they will have to fix it. The FAA and other organisations have rules set to ensure the saftey of everyone. Always listen to the saftey instructions and read the saftey card no mater how many times you have. If the pilots feel unsafe about doing a flight for any reason they can say no to operating the flight. Pilots also must have a certain amount of rest before operating a flight and are not allowed to fly if they haven't. They can also call in fatigued if they are too tired to fly safely. You should also listen to the saftey instructions before a flight and identify where in relation you are to the emergency exits in case anything happens.
If you were to find yourself in the event of an emergency aboard a plane, try to stay calm, stay in your seat, fasten your seatbelt, follow all instructions from flight attendants and be sure you know where the emergency exists are. The pilots will do everything they can to save everyone on board. Once the aircraft has landed one way or another always check for danger and if the engines are off and listen to the instructions. Leave all possessions behind and go through the emergency exits. When the emergency responders arive listen to all intructions from them. During a depressurisation the masks will drop and the pilots will immediately start desending to where everyone can breath again safely.
Things that may be scary that are normal is, a go around. If your plane is landing but then it suddenly starts flying again. This is called a go around. This is completely safe and is done if the approach is unstable, something is on the runway, the pilot is unsure of the landing and would rather do a go around to be safe, atc has instructed the pilots to do so, etc. Turbulence is normal and the aircraft are built to withstand turbulence much stronger than it will ever see. The dangers in turbulence is not wearing your seatbelt and things falling from over head bins. You may have seen an aircraft or video of an aircraft having what looks like tape being put on it. This is a special tape and is safe and is just to seal something temporarily. Anything that is dangerous would need immediate attention and if the pilots felt unsafe they will not fly the flight. This tape has also been used to stop paint peeling off the aircraft as well.
If you are worried about what airlines are safe i also recommend checking out the EASA blacklist of airlines.
There are many examples of flights that have landed safely in an emergency. If an engine or all engines fail this does not mean immediate death as a plane can fly safely with one engine and a plane can also glide with no engines. Pilots are trIned to handle all types of emergencies and also have a checklist for when something happens to help resolve an emergency.
I wrote this at 2 am so sorry for any mistakes in my writing if there is any and i hope this helped. I am not a nervous flying so i have no idea if this would help. :)
