cases. Alas, some crooks and criminals will go so far as to attack a K9 unit in an attempt to

Dang these dogs don’t get enough credit they are helpers as well my dog is a retired police dog cona he is a good boy someone broke in our house and people heard screaming and called the cops but we got home and our dog was in a leash and we were like hey why is our dog in a leash they said it came into the house and we said this is our house cops said do you know this guy we said no and this happened so he was injured and arrested they said you have a good dog we said he was a retired police dog and the police said they had handled cona that is why he listened to heel and stuff and the cops said we have a amazing dog cona was my dog and he loves me to death till today that was 6 months ago now I have been by him for so long and he is always by me

I love our K9 Police Dogs. We had one here in town and he was extremely intelligent. He could open the car door and he would walk over by his Cop and just sit there. He knew so many commands, I couldn't even remember them all. 💙💙💙He is retired now but I know the Cop took him home with him to enjoy the rest of his life. These dogs are handled with kid gloves and are spoiled by their Cop partners.

The dog at around 25:50 is not called "Platz", like you said. "Platz" is a german command for dogs, similar to "Fass" or "Aus". American K9 Police Dogs are usually trained to react to german commands.

Dog is a powerful animal. There is little stopping a dog from doing their job to please their master, and they love the work. The dogs love for man is one of the reasons man evolved. Dog protects man. One less worry in the night. Few see the wisdom of simple truths.

It’s interesting reading some comments from people who think they can do the job better, spend a day with law enforcement and really see what happens.
Being an officer isnt even in the top 20 of deadliest jobs. 47 died from firearm fatalities last year (thats federal, local, tribal, etc all combined). Only 5 of those shootings happened at a traffic stop. There are over 700k police officers with tens of millions of traffic stops, interactions, etc happening each year. You'd think they'd be a little more brave when confronting a bum in a parking lot or some shmuck reciting maritime law from his car. The cop's chance of winning the state lottery is far greater than them being injured in either case.
The police in this country view the general public with disdain and they are very undertrained. That is undeniable. Thousands of videos here on youtube can illustrate that point just fine. They hide behind qualified immunity, get shuffled off to a different department when found out, and couldnt de-escalate a flight of fucking stairs.

@@leese.23the dog listens to the handler without matter if someone else is speaking german. The reward is with the handler only. It's also why dogs work with 1-2 people only. The only dogs that will be ordered by multiple people are those like airport labradors since they search none the less. Bomb alert dogs also alert for everyone since often they can be handled by multiple people. Police dogs work exclusively with 1 handler in a team and pay sole attention to that handlers commands.
The reason for the german commands is because the german commands are specially made to be simple for the dog and to not sound alike and because the first dogs were german trained. They had to use german with them and ever since then they all learn in german.

I don't really understand why the bald cop had to release the K-9 on the guy? He was stopped in the alley, and there were two police officers equipped with tasers and pepper spray. I see this every once in a while in the clips, an officer that's just a bit over and beyond aggressive. Im 100% for police officers, but personally, I think these kinds of officers need to be looked into.
I'm a 20+ year retired ER nurse and I can't tell you how many of these folks we got in after arrest. The Cops are the real heroes because they walk up to a completely unknown situation and have to bring them to the ER for various reasons AFTER the situation is under control. WE, in the ER sometimes save lives when the life can be saved, but these guys risk their lives hauling in folks that need help.
But honestly, the ER isn't a "collect all" tank. Drunk folks don't require ER. High folks don't require ER unless there's a problem, like they've swallowed narcotic or cocaine/crystal/meth balloons.
But in most cases, the only answer is to take these folks to the ER, which is entirely inappropriate. WE know it. The cops know it ... but what's the answer if you don't have an official drunk tank with no medical supervision?
Drunk and passed out teens? Absolutely to the ER.
Overdoses to the ER?
Absolutely ...
but know that if someone comes in intubated after Narcan isn't a good thing.
If you have to give more then one dose of Narcan to someone who is narcotic experienced ... it's not going to end well.
As a note:
Years before I started as an ER nurse in my home hospital, there was a patient that overdosed on narcs. He was "saved" with Narcan and needed a tube to breathe to "save" him, and he spent a long time in the ICU recovering ...
Only to live the rest of his life brain damaged to the point of being non-verbal, and has to spend the rest of his life in diapers, with tube feedings because he can't remember how to swallow ... drooling and peeing on himself.
And the ONLY reason he's in this state after a decade or two of care is because of his family feeling guilty.
You can see in his eyes that he would be happy to move on, but his family keeps him in this horrific prison out of their own guilt.
I feel so bad for this guy.
And this is the life of someone who overdosed and didn't quite die before they were revived and the family won't let them go. It's an absolutely horrific existence when you can't tell your family that you're ready to go. I've looked this guy in the eye, and I can't help him because of the law.

The people whining about the tennis racket lmao. Does someone "not being in their right mind" somehow make them less dangerous? I'd argue it makes them more dangerous. The dude was strangling the dog, the dog is as much their partner as another officer, they're going to protect their own. If someone was choking your dog, would you politely stand there and ask them to stop or do anything necessary to get them off?
It’s just hard to watch when you know there are mental problems at play. You are right though, the danger to the officers, the dog and the public is real.

I understand that at times, a person out of their mind can be MORE dangerous, but other hen telling him to lay down with his hands behind his back (which he made it clear he didn't think they were really police) they made NO EFFORT to reason with him before sending in potentially lethal force!
The guy probably was in drugs too, some drugs can make you more resistent to tasers.

I am a little late to this compilation, but police dogs are amazing. They never give up and are willing to give their lives to the job. In the UK we call them land sharks. For those whom serve and have served my heart is with you

No, he just wasn't fully aware of what was happening. I don't think he even understood that he was speaking to officers. Personally I don't think they should have let the dog on him, because I think the pain was freaking him out and further confusing him.

Tasers are less affective on people with strong drugs in there system and upping the charge on tasers could cause serious bodily harm.

You don't want to accidentally fire the weapon, so they are taught to not do that. You must remember that emotions and fear specifically can run high during situations so it's better to not even add the risk

Then they jump to the dog attacking the “suspect” only now the guy came out of his back door wearing a blue jogging suit to a dog attacking him. He’s pleading with the officer who doesn’t get his dog till after it’s attacked him and broke his arm.
