Finally someone has taken the time to show how all the markings line up and where they go. Very good. All the other vids do not show the markings or how the pieces all line up. Thank you much.
Forget strut mount installation, this was actually the best strut and spring installation video I've watched on youtube! The others skipped so many steps. They would skip the top strut cover and bearing installation. They would skip the details of the alignments. A lot of videos would have all in one assemblies of struts and springs (Quick Struts) but it was hard to find one that showed all the steps of removing and installing the strut and spring back in place! Thanks a lot! This has helped me tremendously! I installed all springs, struts, sway bar links, and new mounts and bearings. I'll have to go over things again as i'm getting clunking.
A suggestion: Before you start any disassembly loosen the upper strut mount nut. Back it off until it is not torqued down and perhaps one more turn but not more. If you remove the strut before you do this you will have the difficulty you had in loosening the torqued nut, but if it's already untorqued it comes right off.

Do you have to grease the bearing ?
@Riot-_buildz No grease needed thy already come greased unless you want to give it a very light coat but not needed. Thanks for watching please Like and Subscribe if you haven't already and also support my IG BIG WILL CAR CARE
Personally I wouldn’t use power tool to compress spring. More likely for compressor tool to unbalance in compression and slip. Don’t put fingers between springs!

Do you have to do both if you only changing the strut mount ?
You don't have to but it's best to change things in pair. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
Thanks 👍
Why happen that sr
. My strut mount loose. And all thing fall down. Just see.of 3 screws on top.
I've been hearing a clunking noise from up front when I was going over a dip or into the driveway. Kind of hoping this is what is going on.
@Bart Scanland Most likely that , sway bar bushings or control are bushings. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already

Hi thanks for the video. What vehicle is this?
Toyota highlander limited AWD
hi, can you please give a link for the replacement part?
@Small king www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog/906986
Rockauto.com
Will you put my on the mount on .
Is that all I need is the mounts
Yes that all that's needed. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
Could u loosen bolt whilst it in car?
Yes you can just don't remove it all the way until you you compress the spring with a spring compressor. Thanks for watching please Subscribe if you haven't already
You aren't supposed to reuse a top nut on a strut. They are one-time use. Once removed, you are supposed to put a new one on, especially after using a torch.
@TESLA Watch the entire video to hear what I said about the nut. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already

Never put your hand on the spring while compressing. If the clamps snap together. By By fingers. Be warned.
Thanks for watching please Subscribe if you haven't already
@OceanJumper thanks for the concern. The view from the camera is not the same as my view. The spring is pointing towards the wall and ceiling and Springs do not snap together they snap apart so my fingers and body are safe. Please Subscribe if you haven't already
@Legacy Trans Global straight through a person is an exaggeration
remember if you don't use OEM parts for critical stuff like this you won't get long life out of the part. Struts mounts and bearing for my 2008 Highlander are $292 ! Just parts for full suspension job are $1200 :(
@Jacana Productions in some cases yes, but a lot manufacturers are making oem parts nor so there are a lot of options now compare to years ago. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
Does anyone know what the green dot is on the strut mount on Lexus cars?
@norakat the dot is usually used for alignment upon install so you know the orientation to put the replacement. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
@@BIGWILLSCARCARE - I thought these mounts were symmetrical. Are you saying that the position changes the alignment?
@@norakat the spring cup below the strut mount is angled which is why the arrows must line up. If they dont line up the strut will not fit correctly on the fender
Loosening the top nut before removal of the entire assembly may help.
@James Anderson in some cases yes but in this case the rubber mount was broken and there was no way to get the socket inside without compressing the spring. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
@@BIGWILLSCARCARE Your right. Just replaced my R Rear strut last night and the top wouldn't budge from that position of removing it.
I have a Subaru so I cannot push on the fender to make the strut move lol. I would put dents in the fender.
@Benny Boy open the hood and push on a solid part like the radiator support. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already

@Bt G Strut mounting kit or upper Strut mount. Thanks for watching please Like and Subscribe if you haven't already
why not just wedge a pry bar in the strut bearing bolts to stop the shock from turning? thats at least how toyota does it..
@a. That's works too. Thanks for watching please Like and Subscribe if you haven't already
Next time tight that vice grip very tight it and the shaft it will not spin
If I'm replacing the strut yes but if I'm reusing the strut then I don't want to damage the rod. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already

I just replace everything. Was easier the messing with the spring
@chad wick the shocks were replaced but the mount broke a few weeks later and I don't care for aftermarket springs. They sit higher than oem and sag after a short time. Thanks for watching please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE if you haven't already. Also follow me on IG Big Will Car Care
I bet you don't get the same soft, smooth ride any more from your Lexus. Lexus springs are specially made and you cannot buy it from any other vendor.

Why not just buy a new strut assembly with the mount already installed.
Most times those are not the top quality ones and the springs are not as heavy duty depending on the vehicle. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
You should take the nut out before compressing the spring ……tension will take care of that nut
Not in this case. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
It's never worth it to do that. Just get a new strut.
@My experiences The struts were recently changed so in this case it would be a waste of money. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already
