Competitors: Chevrolet Blazer 2 Door
What Camerons Car Reviews has to say about the Explorer Sport: These days finding a 2 door SUV is getting quite rare. The only 2 main ones on the market are the Chevrolet Blazer 2-Door and the Ford Explorer Sport. The Explorer Sport is quite an SUV that got redesigned in 2001, but still is on an aged platform and with it's brother the regular 4-Door Explorer that got redesigned in 2002. Room in the Explorer sport is very roomy as we were very surprised. Power in the Explorer Sport comes from a 4.0 L V6 made into a 5-Speed Manual or 5-Speed Automatic 4X2 or 4X4. Trims range from the base XLS to the luxurious XLT Premium. If your looking for a nice large SUV bu basically you want to 2 doors go with the Explorer Sport, we however will just go for regular Explorer. Авто/Мото
Got a 98 starting to show a little rusting now but still solid, drives good and 4x4 still works. Paid 1600 for it going on 2nd winter with it now. No issues all did was get new tires, replaced the brake pads and a new battery and front wipers other than that good truck 130k 4.0 V6 4x4. Didnt know they made these till 03, 04 . I'd love a newer one in better condition. Ppl call it a Bronco rather than an Explorer guess cause most ppl thought of Explorers as 4 doors these are quite rare!
Great SUV! I really like the 2 door models, don't know why they discontinued them. Love the leather seats and moonroof!
mine just hit 200.000 still going strong
This was my first car wayyy back in 07.. i miss it every day
Thank you for the video! :) Helped me decide whether I should buy one here in Philadelphia!
Just picked an Explorer sport xlt dark blue
Mine has 4wd with 229,000 miles and still going strong. Only repair ever needed was a radiator and ac condensor replacement. Kept fluid changes to scheduled intervals. Had it for 14 years got it with only 12,000 miles.
How is everything going on?
I have this same car with all the options + grill guard. About to hit 100k miles, hope for a lot more
Sold it. Miss it a lot.
@Dinnermeal it had a ton of issues. Got a 2016 tc
I really want this truck my dad had one and I love it
Yes I will try to look for one
I have this model in Blue.. sure is pretty!! fun to drive with a 5 speed transmission can control it better than Auto.
I drive a 2001 model Sport with 203K on it. Still runs!!!
I have the same with around 165k miles and it’s beat up but I love it
I also have an 01 explorer sport it just hit 330k but it’s still runs good!
Nice little SUV, always liked these. These are also a bit harder to find these with the light gray colored interior rather than the tan or ugly dark gray colored ones, plus these were offered with the light gray interior in 2003 only.
omg i want this!!
My dad had a 2002 ford explorer sport, beige. Even though it has problems, it's still going strong, and it only has 180,000 miles
My has 216,xxx still going strong. Wooooooo
Abram Ruelas any transmission problems?
13000 more and you'll catch me. But im still going so you better do a lot of driving.
What kind of mpgs does it get?
My grandfather had a turquoise one of these and it was nothing but problems.especially electrical.
Hoonigan gang wya
i wish they still made these
do they not, i used to have one in red
John Jahanshahi Not anymore... Neither do they make the Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
Yea too bad. But lets hope Ford does a good job with the 2020 Bronco and makes it 2-door
King Neptune I just bought one a month ago. 71k on it. I love it.

They would screw it up now days. The point was for it to feel like a pick up truck, starting with the gear shifter. They would make it like a sports car nowadays.
Some lucky person got this SUV. I love it! Can you find me one similar to this? I live in Houston, TX.
I have one
A CarGurus search in your area would be the best bet.
I had a 2001 2 dr explorer.
Remember the pickup truck version of these. Sport Trac.
These were all based on the Ford Ranger platform/ drivetrain. No wonder they're still running strong! Everyone that has or had a 90s Ranger knows those were super reliable trucks
I have a basic 2003 model in white. Put on some Wrangler tires and it runs like beast.
Best truck ever I like Chevy as well:-)
Donde esta ese dileer
how do you lock the trunk window mine won't lock
Heated seats on a 2003 explorer , Wow
Your videos are so good, and i like your review, but theres one comment i would like to share, your camera is nice and HD , but the problem is the zooming, it was so close to the objects specially the interior, it makes me dizzy with zooming in. thank you
I understand very much, this is when my videos were more amateurish my more recent videos are better.
HOW CAN I BUY THIS SUV
Eddy Ferguson what I was thinking! But I'm sure it's gone since video is 5 yrs old.
I still have a 2000 Explorer Sport but would love another one.
any common flaws with that engine?
Lean codes = just replace the gasket that connects the air intake to the engine and torque as manufacturer's specs. While doing that, replace the valve cover gasket. Timing chain rattles will mean that it's a ticking time bomb until the timing chain guides will break. Once that happens, it will be a catastrophic engine failure. To make it worst, there's one timing chain in the front for the passenger side (I believe) and one in the rear side of the engine for the driver's side. You have to pull the engine out if you want to replace the timing chain/guides. Constant oil change every 3-3.5k miles can help to properly lub the chain. I still have my '01 with 184k miles. Gas hog, but it doesn't ask for much.
