@@Mykkus it is thought because theoretically higher price=better quality. Not the case here. There’s no direct comparison for sure but EHT Rye is BT best rye that’s not an LE vs Jdsbbp rye which is the best jack Daniels rye not an le. Best against best
Next battle do it completely blind without the knowledge of distilleries beforehand. That should make the tasting comments really interesting to watch. Of course you’ll have to do several more until one distillery reigns supreme!
@@odehhaddad3959 true, but I was thinking both makers and FR only produce bourbons. I agree that Turkey would wipe the floor with WR, so maybe Michters is the better adversary then
@@TylerSmith-sq9oz hmm now you’re onto something. 4R v Michters. HH v Beam and maybe WT vs Buffalo Trace. Admittedly my favorite distilleries are WT, BT, Michters 4R. So I’d love so see those. I’d love to see peerless go against someone but what other distillery only offers at cask strength? Wonder how Peerless might do against a Bardstown.
Do 16 matchups and then using the scores, create a bracket and do a massive tournament during March!!!... kind of make the 16 matchups from now (Sept) until March, like the "regular season" ... then March Madness for the National Champion Distiller!... in the future, you can do this with current yearly releases!
This was the most unhinged Dan i have seen in awhile; and we need more of it. Love this idea. Would love to see a High West vs. Redwood Empire for Dan and a Maker’s Mark vs. Four Roses for Sean
Great show as always! I don't know how Wild Turkey might compete in anything like this but, that won't stop me from enjoying it! The Turkey Trot: Russell's Reserve 10yr, Kentucky Spirit, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed! Cheers!
I’m with you guys that JD barrel proof rye is fantastic. The ones I have scored this summer are 133.3 proof for $55.00. Just a whole shelf of them. I’m actually going to call and have someone I know very well pick me up a couple more of them.
March madness distillery’s tournament. I won’t be able to touch most of the hard to find bottles in Texas but seeing how well the jack rye did I wanna try it now.
This is fun. I like this format. You could keep it going for a while and change up the categories depending on what’s available. Also there can be rock, paper, scissor situations where a #3 could beat a #1 depending on the matchups
I prefer JD, but BT is great stuff. I’m sure the antique bottles are crazy good, I’ve just never had the opportunity to purchase one. I’ve got a JD 10 and 12 though and they are awesome.
Fortunate to have a GTS 2023. It is amazing. The nose is literally cherry cola and the palate is cake. Objectively it does not holds up JD12 or Russell’s 15 cause some how it feels lacking when being compared. However, personally would drink that over anything because it is just best BT note and I love BT note.
Ive had a few antiques and while typically very good (wasnt a fan of 2022 gts) i dont think they are really greater than a lot of other bourbons on the market like jack bp picks, russells picks, ecbp etc
Because of the “Tennessee Whiskey” factor, I typically put Jack in its own category and don’t compare it to regular bourbons, despite Jack technically checking that box as well.
This came out just as expected. BT cheap stuff is king but the JD high end is almost unbeatable. The one thing I do have to say since the JD Rye was the clear winner in this is that in the rye category the Peerless DO Rye is almost unbeatable in blinds from my experience.
The big takeaway is JDBP Rye is WAY better than standard proof BT Rye. Without that part of the competition BT wins close instead of losing in a blowout. I’d love to see a one on one baby Saz vs standard Jack SiB rye (pretty sure that’s 90vs94 proof) instead of a 30 point difference between a barrel proof and a heavily watered product. The only comp to JDBP Rye that BT makes is Handy and that’s way too LE to fit in the standard “rye” category
Please please do a Copper Fox distillery tasting from Williamsburg VA. Their stuff is so unique. Their Dawson,s Reserve is one of my favorites. But it's hard to get
I love the idea of a distillery head to head. Coy Hill v. GTS is not even close to a fair comparison. Coy Hill is JD's best ever product and I don't think you can say that about GTS. Can't wait for the next one though!
I think the video idea is great, however I think it might be better to not know the dueling distilleries. Because some distilleries only have certain offerings for each category.
Great idea but I think it would be better completely blind without knowing the distillery. Not because they wouldn’t figure it out but because the commentary might be even better.
Turkey vs Heaven Hill
This
MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!
That would be a good one
Agreed
Agreed
"Battle of the Blender's"
Barrell vs Bardstown
love this!!
My dude spilled more GTS than I will ever sip in my life. 😂
The Rye category was the huge swing and not even close. For fairness sake it probably should have been the Jack Bonded Rye vs Baby Saz
EHT Rye costs more and still lost
It’s not about cost. Single barrel cask strength vs a
Batched rye.
@@Mykkus it is thought because theoretically higher price=better quality. Not the case here. There’s no direct comparison for sure but EHT Rye is BT best rye that’s not an LE vs Jdsbbp rye which is the best jack Daniels rye not an le. Best against best
IMO that JD is the best rye period. It’s just not a good comparison imo. Single barrel rye would’ve been closer
@@Mykkus Correct, this comparison should have been against the non- barrel proof single barrel Rye.
Heaven Hill vs. Jim Beam: Battle of the Nuts.
Next battle do it completely blind without the knowledge of distilleries beforehand. That should make the tasting comments really interesting to watch. Of course you’ll have to do several more until one distillery reigns supreme!
Let’s not forget the superior availability of the JD products pretty much across the board + almost always cheaper as a result.
Makes it better for me.
Dan was in exceptional form for this video.
Old Forester vs. Michter's
Heaven Hill vs Jim Beam

Makers Mark vs Four Roses

Wild Turkey vs Woodford Reserve
@@TylerSmith-sq9oz HH v Beam is good. Rest don’t quite fit. Woodford can’t hold a candle to turkey and makers are all wheaters.

Everyone needs a little Dan in their life. Laughing throughout the whole video.
You’re either goofing like Dan or you’re glaring like Sean
I love them both but the old Buffalo has my heart

This is tough because JD has such a distinct flavor
love this video idea . any four roses , turkey, heaven hill, old forester would be incredible as well
Never once have I even had a peanut/peanut butter note in a whiskey (screwball excluded). It is wild to hear what different people taste in whiskey.
Old forester-Heaven hill
Loved the episode format.... As mentioned below.... Turkey vs Heaven Hill.... Please good sirs make it happen!!
I'm so glad you left that in the video!!!!
😂

Best Bourbon RUclips channel period.
Jack Daniels Barrel Proof Rye is hands down, bottle of the year from last year and now it's a regular shelfer. Love it
I'd love it if you just rotated all major distilleries in this dual. Ex. Buffalo Trace against all the rest and then do it for Javk Daniels and so on.
The JDSBBP Rye is easily the best bottle I've had that's readily found on shelves and only $65.
Cheers!
I have been waiting all my life for this video. Thanks guys!!!
Great video....Sagamore Rye vs all comers
I’d love to see Redwood Empire vs someone - they’re my favorite distillery right now
Loved the format.
Can’t think of a good combination that I haven’t already seen and agree with Turkey vs Heaven Hill next

TRUE! Best ryes onbthe shelf is Jack Daniels and Sagamore!
Definitely a fan of this format
Like the format. Maybe do bracket style. Also would like to see HH, MM, 4R, OF.
Winner should hold the title until unseated. BF vs BF showdown, JD vs OF.
Loved this one! I vote Turkey/Russels vs Heaven Hill
Would also love to see Jim Beam vs Jack Daniels down the line
love this video style. Should give rankings and then do a bracket style
Really enjoyed this format fellas!! & laughed my ass off as well!! Totally agree on the JDSBBPR.. cheers!
I like the format. I think Jim Beam VS Heaven Hill. There are many offerings for each.
Love the format! Four Gate vs Bardstown

Love both distilleries. But if I could only have one, I would take JD because of the barrel proof rye. JD10 and 12 don’t hurt either.
After Dan dropped the F bomb, Sean & I IN STEREO has the exact same reaction
I just picked up a JDSBBPR the other day, going to crack it open this weekend!
Awesome video, keep up the format!
I didn't think this was ever gonna be a question
Old Forester single barrel rye might stand up to Jack's rye!!!!

Gotta put Michter's in there just to see the reaction of their "barrel proof" bottle at 94 proof...
Very fun series. I'd like to see Old Forester vs. Elijah Craig.
I like anything that pits Kentucky Whiskey v. Tennessee Whiskey
Lawrenceburg Throwdown. Four roses vs. Wild Turkey
I don't like rye, but I do love jack barrel proof rye
Love this video format. Turkey vs heaven hill next please
High West "Mid Summers Dram " dropped this week in Utah.
This is a great format!
Jack Daniel’s SB proof Rye is the GOAT of Ryes!!
Great vid, Gents. Love these 2 distilleries.
JD vs WT would be very close.
My Jack Daniels SPBP Rye is the darkest whisky I've ever seen in person. It's much darker than the double oaked ryes and bourbons in my collection.
Never been more proud of my home state of TN.
Because of the “Tennessee Whiskey” factor, I typically put Jack in its own category and don’t compare it to regular bourbons, despite Jack technically checking that box as well.
Should have used JD bonded rye against EHTSR. I think that would have been a better comparison.
Came here to say this. Both are 100 proof. Perfect comparison
Great format keep it going
This came out just as expected. BT cheap stuff is king but the JD high end is almost unbeatable. The one thing I do have to say since the JD Rye was the clear winner in this is that in the rye category the Peerless DO Rye is almost unbeatable in blinds from my experience.

Fun video concept. Is Jim Beam vs Wild Turkey next? Or Brown Foreman vs Heaven Hill?
Like the format do it not knowing the distilleries.
I’d like to see Russell’s vs Buffalo trace for sure.
I know it's the same distillery but I'd love to see a Wild Turkey vs Russell Reserve.
Buffalo all the way. Now on the other hand the Jim Beam 7 black label is pretty dang good. If you guys haven't tried it yet go grab ya some
Heaven Hill vs Jim Beam
Wild Turkey vs Old Forester
agree
I would like to see Koval vs Hudson Whiskey NY
Not me, running out and buying JD SB Rye, and JD SB BP after this video...
Please please do a Copper Fox distillery tasting from Williamsburg VA. Their stuff is so unique. Their Dawson,s Reserve is one of my favorites. But it's hard to get
Heaven hill and wild turkey
Bardstown and barrel
Both are in my top 5. Have to say JD by a narrow margin.
Michters vs Willet
Barrel King vs Rare Character
Wild Turkey Vs Heaven Hill
Michters vs Four roses
Yes
One of the guys in this vidya was maybe feeling it. That's cool. Because I was too while watching it.
JDSBBP Rye is so good for its price it makes it less fun to hunt other whiskey
Still waitin on that Scooby Doo shirt to be made available!
You need to reconsider how this is scored, Buffalo trace won 3-2. They don’t decide the World Series by total runs in all games.
who cares lol, all of this is subjective nonsense anyway
Gonna need to compare the JDBP Rye vs the EHTBP Rye when you guys get a chance
I love the idea of a distillery head to head. Coy Hill v. GTS is not even close to a fair comparison. Coy Hill is JD's best ever product and I don't think you can say that about GTS. Can't wait for the next one though!
Also, y'all should not have known which distilleries were in the blind!
Striking revelation at the end there.
Traverse City Whiskey vs Mammoth. New Holland vs Detroit city
Very cool concept!
My palette does not like the banana runts notes that I’ve gotten on every Jack Daniels product I’ve ever had. So BT wins from the jump to me.
I think the video idea is great, however I think it might be better to not know the dueling distilleries. Because some distilleries only have certain offerings for each category.
Wild Turkey vs Old Forester
I am pretty sure Dan has spilled more whiskey than I have drank in my life. Old Forrester Vs Woodford Reserve (Brown-Forman skirmish).
Banana on my rye a no-go. 🤷🏼♂️
Frey Ranch vs Green River
Great idea but I think it would be better completely blind without knowing the distillery. Not because they wouldn’t figure it out but because the commentary might be even better.
And then branch out to other states so long as those purveyors don't use MGP.
Woodford vs Old Forester
Heaven hill vs Michters.
