FANTASTIC!!! I am a proud Welshman and have laughed out loud at this wonderful sketch many times, it just never gets old. This was undoubtedly a true, golden age of entertainment, there is nothing to compare with it these days. ARDDERCHOG (Superb in Welsh!)

When TV was worth watching. I love the ladies with their old fashioned outfits, hats and suitcases. They look so elegant. Brilliant sketch. You won't see anything like this on TV ever again.
David you are quite right, the old fashioned skirts, hats, are really a bygone era of British history it's such a pleasure to revisit these little vignettes of British life. Even though it may be about Wales.
I remember watching this as a kid. I recorded on cassette to listen too and have been looking for it ever since. Now I live in the US, it reminds me of home :-)
🎶 There's Reverend Jenkins doing fine. He's preaching hellfire down the line. And shouting out "Send me a sign!" And one of these days we will.🎶 At the end of that line, I always imagine a two-fingered salute (specifically a backwards peace sign).
Duw, the two Ronnies were brilliant. We used to watch the Christmas specials with my old man. Watching them now when I chance upon a video brings back happy memories
This is why we love the Welsh narrow gauge network. "Going uphill is quite a plod, when we're all out of steam! Downhill, oh, we take off! Bits and pieces shake off!"
Maybe the Corris Railway. But this could be just an imaginary freelance narrow gauge railway in Wales for the sake of this staged musical performance! 😂
Bendigedig. Certainly one of their best, very clever rhyming. The little Welsh trains are marvellous- and you can get to the summit of Snowdon on one- best on a sunny day for the views. 1:40 Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn/Watching the White Wheat tune, a lovely song about a true tragic love. 2:20 Llwyn Onn/Ash Grove. I strongly recommend Thomas L Thomas singing those 2- on youtube. 3:46 Rhyfelgyrch Gwyr Harlech/ Men of Harlech, maybe best known in the film Zulu
The model of that engine, is based off two real examples. You can see one at the Apedale Valley Light Railway, and the other at the Statfold Barn Railway
Interesting that they have the GWR emblem on their caps; a lot of the little trains interchanged with, or in a few cases were subsidiaries of, the Great Western Railway.
Could anyone help me identify the music piece that starts at 1:04? It's the music my washing machine plays when a load is finished, and I didn't know it existed otherwise. Thanks!
Does ANYBODY know where I can find the script to this?? Over the year in whatever spare time I have, I have been searching for the script / lyrics to this sketch and have had no luck. Please please help me!!!!!!! I was planning on using it the next time I go and drive at Fairbourne but can't find it in time!
I'm curious as to what loco that was that they were riding on. It seems to be a freelance model, as I know of no Welsh narrow gauge railway that had an engine like that one.
It's "Green grow the rushes oh" I'll sing you one-oh, Green green the rushes-oh, What is your one-oh, One is one and all alone and ever more shall be so. Then two three till twelve, with all the earlier ones repeated (like one man went to mow or the twelve days of Christmas). I thought this was well known, we sang it at school on trips away
I probably don't have the heart to bring up this goof but... Eh, screw it! When they're singing the last song from the cab, everytime smoke goes over the pair, you can see the scenery change to green screen in the background. Look where the smoke is, and it's all green XD
These 2 really were comedy genius. The writing, the timing, real shame we'll never see the likes of these again. Ageless comedy gold
Brilliant truly ,some of today’s so called comedians should watch this ,no swearing just fun and sheer joy, two geniuses , never see their like again
Both sadly missed. I have met them a couple of times when I worked at BBC Ealing Film Studios in the 1970s.

Bore da. :-)
Dontyoulovethechemistrywiththesetwo.
(Not sure if the above was a comment or the name of a Welsh town). 🤔😜

Television was at its best in the 70s...

David M You are so right!

No Woke B.S in sight!!

'Down the depo, piston broke'. Pure genius!
Duw, the two Ronnies were brilliant. We used to watch the Christmas specials with my old man. Watching them now when I chance upon a video brings back happy memories
They were absolutely priceless. Much missed.
Oh thank you so much its Really cheered up my day xxxx 😘 💐 Heather
I love these guys. I wish they were still here......
This is why we love the Welsh narrow gauge network.
"Going uphill is quite a plod, when we're all out of steam! Downhill, oh, we take off! Bits and pieces shake off!"
BAH HAHAHA!!! what a laugh! what a laugh! nice one mate.
RIP Ronnie Corbett. :( You will be missed by many. :(
They were absolutely brilliant these 2!👍👍
On what would've been Ronnie Corbett's 90th I think this is 1 of their best sketches. 🚂🚂🚂
“We’ve overtaken lots of snails but only when we go downhill” I can’t breathe
Absolutely love this !
Brilliant! Just Brilliant! Watched it as a kid the first time round.
Judging by the GWR driver caps, They're probably on the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway or the Vale of Rheidol Railway
Maybe the Corris Railway. But this could be just an imaginary freelance narrow gauge railway in Wales for the sake of this staged musical performance! 😂
Operated Dick Wyatt's Dovery Valley Railway. Lovely model and great setting for this terrific sketch too!
Some of those rhymes were just so clever!
Oh God this is perfect. Ending's amazing. Ffestiniog here I come.

Yep.
Quite an impressive model layout in all honesty, lots of scenery and lots of hard work. I wonder if if they borrowed it from a club.
Dwi 'n caru'r 2 Ronnies !!!!!!!!❤

Brilliant Railway Sketch!🤗👍
Nice to see that Janet and Betty are doing alright after their escape.
Of the sketches where they sing this is my favourite
Brilliant, first class comedy
Fantastic RIP reunited now then
Classic! :D Many thanks for Posting :)
Brilliantly made
These guys were as quick as the one later Ron with a slick stick
Imagine Harry Secombe, Rob Brydon, Terry Jones, Richard Burton or Timothy Dalton mastering this 😂
This must of been one of the first interactive projects involving people and models .
It's brilliant
*must have
Just as Bernard Cribbins went Hornby sized, the Two Ronnies went OO9 sized.
I want to go to Wales.
I mean, not because of this video, I just really do want to see Wales.
Brilliant!
Interesting that they have the GWR emblem on their caps; a lot of the little trains interchanged with, or in a few cases were subsidiaries of, the Great Western Railway.
Does anyone know who the "Welsh Rarebit'' is, I am sure I know her from somewhere!
a very nice episode of two welish steam engine drivers singing.
Must have taken lots of TRAINING to do this sketch !
Comedy at it's brilliant best
Delightful. I think I caught a few words. It sounds like an easy language to understand - a lot like English.
Never saw this episode but they were great!
Nothing was wrong with the country. No change was needed.
They sound like Jones the Steam and Evans the Song off Ivor the Engine
Yeah
This reminds me a lot of Ivor a lot since that was also set in Wales
Indeed
The Merioneth and Llantisilly Railway Traction Company Limited!!!
Piston Broke been there
Could anyone help me identify the music piece that starts at 1:04? It's the music my washing machine plays when a load is finished, and I didn't know it existed otherwise. Thanks!
It's Die Forelle (The Trout), a song by Franz Schubert.
Did they have a narrower Guage in Wales?
Spent ages look for this one
Wonder who the girl from Merthyr Tydfil is?
They were just great all round entertainment
Hope both of you r still together 😢
Brilliant !. I remember this and the Hornby adverts with Bernard Cribbins. Wonder whose layout this was, and is it still around ? Thanx for upload.
The layout is called Dovey Valley Railway and is by Dick Wyatt. It still exists, although now retired from the exhibition circuit.
Yep. I used to help Dick operate it at shows quite regularly from the late 70s into the 90s. A lovely layout with lots of character.

Brilliant.
in the words of tina turner simply the best
just brilliantly funny !!!

Brilliant :D thanks
Folks, what was the song they did that went
"I knew a girl called Megan,
oh, she's got a wooden leg and..."
Very funny, but if you've actually been to Wales, or driven a steam loco, side splitting.
I don’t think there ever was a station called Pen-Y-Bwn, was there?
No, but it would be pronounced “Penny Bun”. Not that you can buy a bun - a small cake - for a penny any more.
Which narrow gauge railway was this filmed on???
In a studio set. G scale layout model train
On a custom 009 layout using probably Dundas models kits
Lovely opera 👍 Mozart, Bizet, Wagner, Verdi or Gilbert & Sullivan couldn’t master this ❤️😊
B😂❤😅 they were the best has well as Morecambe and Wise
Which episode is this from?
Series 10, Episode 3.
Ronnie Corbet sounds like a strange mix of Scottish and Welsh
I'm curious as to what loco that was that they were riding on. It seems to be a freelance model, as I know of no Welsh narrow gauge railway that had an engine like that one.
It appears to be an Avonside 0-4-0T built for use in quarries such as the Penhryn.
IoriYagami288 Fascinating insight. Thank you for your answer.
IoriYagami288 Aha! I have found just what you mean! :) www.rail.co.uk/images/3002/original/Elidir-Graham-Morris-May-2006_Cliff-Thomas.jpg
Mason Buskirk If there were one, it wouldn't last too long with those two running it.
anybody know the song at 3:23
It's "Green grow the rushes oh"
I'll sing you one-oh, Green green the rushes-oh, What is your one-oh, One is one and all alone and ever more shall be so.
Then two three till twelve, with all the earlier ones repeated (like one man went to mow or the twelve days of Christmas). I thought this was well known, we sang it at school on trips away
Which episode is this
Brilliant entertainment, never to be seen again. Pretty women at 2:25
Cobels and Goring lol
Their thumbs
LOL LOL
Lol so funny
I dated a welsh woman she was snowdone
Love the 2 Ronnie's but the only musical I enjoy is the "sound of music"
So sorry guys this isn't for me...
I probably don't have the heart to bring up this goof but... Eh, screw it!
When they're singing the last song from the cab, everytime smoke goes over the pair, you can see the scenery change to green screen in the background. Look where the smoke is, and it's all green XD
Noooo, I watched this 100 times and never saw, now I can't un-see :(
Trainboy9681 get a life. !!!
The only thing I hate about this? Those stupid laugh tracks. They don’t even fit in at times.
Your just to picky
I love the two Ronnies but never liked the songs.
