it’s funny how someone who loved “the likeness” by tana french influenced you to read it and end up loving it because in turn, now i’m really interested in the book. i don’t know if i will ever get to reading “the secret history” by donna tartt despite its popularity, but “the likeness” draws me in more just based on your introduction of the book. plus i’m an english major so it could probably make the story more enjoyable (key word: possibly) reading about a group of english students so we’ll just have to see
I own Dark Matter. Just haven't read it yet. Read The Book Thief and I'm so glad I did!
I think I’ve said this before but I think we have really similar tastes! I’ve only read 3 of these but they are all favorites of mine. The chaos walking trilogy is one of my favorite series ever - I love the way it’s told but also the message behind the series!! And the other two are dark matter and the book thief, more all time favorites! Now I’m excited to read the rest of the things on this list!
Bedtime Bookworm I love how similar our tastes are!! The Chaos Walking trilogy is excellent!
okay im only halfway thru video, but I wanna read all these books. now I feel like I gotta binge on tori videos all day! *throws hands in air and tries to figure out if its a brownies night, or a popcorn night for booktube...*
The Likeness is one of my favorite books of all time!!!
It's great that you've gotten so many great recs from booktube 💜💜💜
Me too!
some more books to add to my tbr list... liked and subscribed... you shouldn't lose sleep over any book, seriously... I've done it a few times, but not since reading "Why we Sleep" by Matthew Walker...
You seem like such a sweet person!! I’m so glad I discovered your channel!!
Thank you so much!! 😊
Almost all my favorite books from the past few years are from Booktube recs! What a fun video to reflect back on that.
It sounds like you’ve been getting some great recs over the years 😃 And I can’t believe I’ve never done a video like this until now!
I just picked up that Patrick Ness book. I’m extra excited to read it now !!!
Book lover616 I hope you enjoy it!
We have such similar taste in books! I’m excited to look into the few I haven’t heard of. I’m going to give Dark Matter a try but I tried reading his other series (The Pines series!) and I was really spooked out 🥺- anyway, I’m excited to follow your channel 🤓
Dark Matter was one of my faves as well. Another booktuber recommended to me as well :) I flew through it and loved it!
Hi Tori. Just stumbled upon your channel this morning and I’m so glad I found it. I’ve only read Dark Matter and I agree, it’s an excellent read. I can not wait to try the Patrick Ness trilogy though. I’ve always wanted to try his books. Thanks for the recommendation and happy reading!
I’m happy you found me! Welcome 🥳
I just discovered booktube. This is my first video and your first book recommendation is one of my favorite series!!! Looking forward to discovering more books and seeing your recommendations!
That’s awesome to hear!! And welcome to booktube 😃
I know I'm 2.5 years late to this party, but hey I'll comment. I also loved so many of the books I've read because of BookTube. I loved the Wayfarers series, too. And I've read and enjoyed The Book Thief, mostly because Markus Zusac came to a nearby town (around the time you posted this video, I think) and I wanted to read at least one of his books before going to his talk and asking for a signature. And if you like knowing that an author is a good person, I'm pretty sure that Markus Zusac is a good and genuine human. He's very patient with his fans and takes the time to sign and personalize books for people. Which isn't required- not everyone wants to be social and there's other ways to be nice and be appreciative of one's fans and stuff. But, I still took it as a good sign. It's my goal to someday be able to meet Becky Chambers, cause she's so awesome.
Also, I'm dating myself, but I just looked up the publication year for The Book Thief because I was shocked it wasn't required reading in my high school. It wasn't published yet... I feel so old now.
Regan was my first booktuber too! Some of my favorites from the last couple years have been her recs. I'm definitely going to check out a few that you spoke about here that I haven't read yet. Thanks!
Love this topic for a video! You already know that you've been the source of so many great books I've read over the last few years :) Scythe, Do You Dream of Terra-Two? (which I'd not heard about anywhere else), and so many more. Peruse Project has given me lots of awesome fantasy recs (Daevabad trilogy, Broken Earth trilogy), and I heard about Lovely War, which I adored, from Read with Cindy. Incidentally, I'm adding Dark Matter to my near-term TBR--sounds amazing!
Yay! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the recommendations over the years ☺️ And so many great fantasy books have been brought to my attention because of Peruse Project! I think her channel is how I first heard City of Brass and The Mistborn 😃
Gads, I have *loads* of favs from BT since I discovered it late in 2017 but a lot of them are from negative or lacklustre reviews rather than gushes because I do like to be difficult 😆... Many are totally new to me genres, again because hearing them being discussed in detail on BT made realize how I wanted them all (!) and realise that dystopian/apocalyptic stories of all types are _totally_ my jam.
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, Earthseed Duology by Octavia Butler, Nevernight Trilogy - Jay Kristoff, Saga series - by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples, An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard, Terra Nullius by Claire G. Coleman, All The Kings Men duet by Kennedy Ryan, Lady Astronaut Series by Mary Robinette Kowal, Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, The Black God's Drums by P. Djèlí Clark, The Psychology of Time Travel by Kate Mascarenhas, The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis, Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice, Catching Teller Crow by Ambelin & Ezekiel Kwaymullina, The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride by Kati Wilde (yes!), White Whiskey Bargain by Jodie Slaughter, and author Talia Hibbert.
I have also been introduced to many YA titles and tons of others across many genres that I'm positive I'll love but I still need to pick up a lot of them. TFS :)
Something to make you laugh a bit. I have been binge watching your videos and I listen mostly doing something else on the computer. When a book sounds in my alley, I go back to the video and try to catch the title and the author but you're shaking the damn book all the time. I have been spending some time now trying to piece all the words lol.
I'm love the variety of books on your shelves!!! I'm a fantasy nut, so I'm loving the Red Rising and Rage of Dragons on your shelves.
Damn I'm so happy I stumbled across your channel, you're a delight! 🥰
Thank you, and welcome! 🥳
I have read all of Tana French’s books, but The Likeness is by far my favorite.
The Likeness is so good! Which of her other novels do you recommend? I have The Witch Elm but have been hesitant to start that one
The faithful place was also good by Tana French
Thank you for your reviews!!
I’m a Ravenclaw too! I must check out the History of Dragons book 👍🏻
I loved The Book Thief. I just started watching book tube the past couple of months, and I’ve had both good and bad experiences with recommendations. I’ll definitely pick up a few books from your list.
Aw thank you! I hope you find some of them to be good reads :D

Really insightful list. Thank you for sharing. Am adding to my reading list.
Thanks, Paul! I hope you enjoy the books you added to your list 😃
I love Kate Pfeil! She introduced me to many wonderful books, including everything by Haruki Murakami!
Love his books now.
I actually just stumbled upon her channel a couple days ago and love her content! And Murakami’s work is awesome!
Anyone who likes Tana French is a friend of mine. I read all of her books I only dislike the last one but even that one is better than a lot of other Mysteries. I'm waiting on her new book in October. I just subscribed to your channel Channel
Just discovered your channel and love your recommendations. New subscriber here 🤗
Thank you and welcome! 🤗
You lost me at Tana French!😳😂
Lmao! I knew I would 😂
Please read “Cracked” by Barbra Leslie
You won’t regret it.
Thanks for the rec! The synopsis hooked me, and I’ve added it to my reading list!
Your funny, and i love your videos.
Thank you!! 😊
Can I ask about some books behind you? They are brown purple and blue and sandwiched between The Book of Dust and Storm of Locusts. What are they called, please? Have you spoken about them before on your channel?
That’s the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman, and they’re in the 10th anniversary edition 😃 I mentioned the first book, The Golden Compass, a while ago (I forget the exact video) but I’ve never discussed the whole series!
Tori Morrow oh okay I have not seen those covers before. They are great books! I might look them up online! Thanks for letting me know!
Honestly you mention all these booktubers you mention and I miss them so much.
Same here! They made some great videos! :)
Tori Morrow
