    @1simaddict1 I loved "The Aviator", I actually think it's Cate Blanchett's third best role overall, after Elizabeth and Bob Dylan, of course. But despite not looking EXACTLY like Hepburn, she pulled off a masterclass performance. She truly is the new Hepburn, in my view. I wonder what Hepburn thought of Blanchett, I guess Blanchett's career took off in earnest after Hepburn's death, but it's very likely Hepburn might have seen "Elizabeth", and all the roles leading up to Lord of the Rings.

    @jckfmsincty No, I do think the Oscar for Golden Pond and especially the one for Lion In Winter were deserved. Her performance in Lion in Winter, to me, is the best female performance recorded on film. But I do agree her first two should rather have been for any of the films you mentioned. "Alice Adams" and "Summertime" being my personal picks :)

  • @mickeydogtube
    @mickeydogtube 11 лет назад +1

    I tend to agree with you about the term "greatest". I admire Katharine Hepburn for her authentic personality. She made being unconventional acceptable and appealing, not to mention attractive. That is why I admire her so much. Lots of people buck the system but they just come off as arrogant and disrespectful of the opportunities they've been given. She was an individual and a character. It's very rare to see both qualities in one person. That's what made her so memorable in my opinion.

    Certa vez me perguntaram o que é cinema .. respondi:não sei...porque não teria a pretensão de responder tal pergunta...mas tem uma cena em adivinhe quem vem para jantar na qual Katharine Hepburn está preocupada com a felicidade da sua filha( e de Spencer Tracy) então reflete sobre a situação ...a câmera pega a sua expressão facial ...a sua interiorização... talvez essa cena tenha sido essencial para o seu prêmio de melhor atriz do ano (1967) e então...acredito que isto é cinema...

    Meryl Streep and Katharine Hepburn, the two most amazing performers to come out of Hollywood. The difference is Hepburn was the best in the history of cinema when it came to drama, but Streep could do all genres better then most of Hollywood put together. And why do the tributes never get standing ovations! She never received an honorary Oscar and never received a standing ovation for any of her wins, it's simply not fair, and she has never gotten the acclaim she so richly deserves.

    They had Julia Roberts present this award because Katharine Hepburn loved Julia Roberts, thought she was very talented and said so more than once. When Audrey Hepburn was given a Lifetime Achievement award in 1994 she sent Julia to accept on her behalf because she too loved Julia, thought she was very talented and would be a big star. You mad?

    She NEVER said that she did not care about the ceremony . She just didn't know how to behave in those situation when she would have lost.
    And as for your research Jane Fonda and Meryl Streep cam e a LONG time after she had won at least Academy Awards . She was fully comfortable with who she was.
    And as for for her hating Jane Fonda, that was her point of view which she was entitled . Most men still hate their wives working and that's what she was pointing out.

    Interesting in that there were 12 movie clips with dialogue spoken by Hepburn in the tribute. She received 12 oscar nominations, but one nominated performance 1935's "Alice Adams" was missing from the clips, instead they had a clip from "Rooster Cogurn"...very odd since all other 11 clips came from nominated performances. Even if for some reason "Alice Adams" was unavailable because of copyright or what not I think they could have found a better film then "Rooster Cogburn" to have put in there. "Stage Door", "Bringing Up Baby", "Little Women", "Holiday", "Adam's Rib", "Pat and Mike"...so on and so on...all better choices than "Rooster Cogburn" for crying out loud!

    @lolaalex59 No. You're wrong. I listened to Julia and it sounds nothing like it. I know "In The Valley..." I sang it at school, and was singing it along with this clip, note by note.

    No it's people like you with bad grammar who end up commenting on a video ABOUT Katharine Hepburn. She never said that she was always right . She merely had an opinion just like you have.
    And as for her acting abilities suffering from her views., you are just ill informed about her great actress she was. Ugh.
