Thanks for posting this video. Ms. Katherine Hepburn is perhaps one of the greatest actresses but also is a wonderful person. It is a pleasure to hear her speak.
It wasn't jealously it was just very diffrent. Hepburn came from the time when in Hollywood the role fit you, you did not need to fit the role. People are celebrated like Bogart and Cary Grant for being the same person in every role, it was taught that that was good acting, that's how you were born with the gift. But Meryl acts in this time where we recognize acting as more of the art that it has evolved into where its more of an achievement to be able to become a part and mold yourself into it.
Watching this in 2019 and you see why Barb isn't relevant anymore. She is interested in being a mouthpiece for men... While Katherine was interested in promoting freedom for anyone.
Holy Guacamole!!!! ONLY KATHARINE HEPBURN COULD SAY THAT!!! That is so awesome ... I think Kate was a remarkable person and actress ... She certainly was different than the other actresses at that time, and maybe she was a bit self-involved when it came to her career and very direct with other people, (which might be considered as rude) BUT most importantly SHE WAS HONEST!! She never pretendet. She was who she was, and thats why she is now the legend ... And yes BW could have done a better job, but hell give her a break ... go and try to interview the Great Kate .. :D
T.V.'s "Chico & the Man" trivia: Originally Freddie Prinze was cast to play the role of "Della." Producer James Komack, of course, eventually awarded the part to the behemoth Della Reese who had invented Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in the autumn of 1967 during her convalescence from a trampoline accident.
Nobody cares Barbara, get over it. Mrs. Hepburn was awesome....I look up to her. I've seen almost all of her movies and love the Tracy Hepburn an Grant and Hepburn team ups. She did nine with Spencer and for with Cary, My favorite Katharine Hepburn movies are The Philadelphia story, Undercurrent, Adams Rib, The African Queen, The Rainmaker and Suddenly Last Summer with Another favorite, Elizabeth Taylor.
Barbara seems a little obsessed with proving that tree question wasn't "her fault". Katherine did say "tree" but it was a dumb question nevertheless. You could've been a good question if you just owned up to it and didn't give a fuck about what other people keep ragging you about.
What you're saying is true, to a point. But what I just cannot understand is how someone (Hepburn) who is so talented herself and who has worked in movies forever, and should admire and appreciate good acting, can actually say that someone who changes enormously for each role (Streep) and continues to amaze people all over the world today, and in my opinion is the best actress of all time, and I am not the only one who thinks this, is somehow a horrible actress. It's simple, it is jealousy.
@CoolBeagle While I was writing my previous comment in pure sarcasm making fun of the Meryl fanatics, I appreciate your comments, CoolBeagle, and I agree with them. Meryl is great for this generation, but she cannot even touch the immortals of screen acting like Katharine, Bette, Lauren, Joan, Ava, Elizabeth, Laurence, Spencer, Humphrey, etc. etc. Without their innovations, Streep would be nothing.
@er90 I don't think they caught what she said on video, but it's in text all over the internet. She said that Meryl was an extremely technical actress and could practically hear the wheels go "click, click, click" in her head as she performed. But most people chalk it up to jealousy that Meryl was the next generation of amazing actress and that Katherine's turn was coming to a close. Bette Davis, on the other hand, wrote a letter to Meryl saying how much she admired her and felt that she Cont...
In the 1975 movie "Rooster Cogburn" the Duke would've lost some credibility, and perhaps gained some respect, if he had shot Katharine Hepburn in the back as she rode away.
@Mike6E How dare she not love Meryl Streep?! I mean, Meryl is a perfect actress and human being who can do no wrong! Even though her personality is so into her role when she isn't acting she's very acerbic. But, who I am to diss the acting goddess known as La Streep?
I don't like Katherine Hepburn as a person, she seemed very narrow minded, she was anti-feminist hero in my opinion, there are many extremely sucsessfull women who are at the same time happily married with kids, but I do think she had fascinating character and was amazing actress, although I don't think she was the greatest actress of all time,I think Bette Davis was much better, she was much more expressive as an actress and I even think that she had much stronger personality.
She was so honest and outspoken, I wish we had people like her now
Katherine was a Savage 😂😂😂😂
A lot of us were back then. This was when people were still strong
Nobody mentioning Ms. Hepburn’s “I’ll wear it to your funeral.” Damn!! 😂😂😂

Katharine was a BOSS.

People - actresses, in particular - like K.H. are sorely missed nowadays!!!
Lives of great person always is a source of inspiration
she was a very strong and very pretty oak tree if anyone was
Damn she was 75 in this interview but she looks no older than 50! She aged real well.
Katherine was cold! 🤣🤣
I just love her!
Everyone would not like to be an oak tree, I'd like to be a weeping willow🤣🤣

It's true that a man wants his wife to be interested in him, but, if he's as work all day, surely his wife can go to work all day too.
Feminist hero.
@AsEasyAsEasyIs
I like that Katharine Hepburn put the Duke in his place in Rooster Cogburn. One of his leading ladies had to do it!
@er90 was passing the torch of best actress to her.

I love Meryl Streep. What was her issue with her? I like KH as well but she seemed a little bitter almost. I could be wrong🤷🏽♀️
Damn........
💞💕💞💕💞
I like Chemis-tree
Rip barbara😭
Katharine seemed like such an interesting person; it's such a shame that she made so many hostile comments towards Meryl Streep.
I never understood why Barbara Walters was so celebrated. She is one of the worst interviewers ever. Ms. Hepburn, OTOH, was one of the GOAT.

She hated Meryl Streep and Marlon Brando. CRAZY women.
Almost everybody hated Marlon brando 😒
Gee, what does KHBW mean?
Those are the initials of their names and family names
something wrong with her on that day !
