The new Shadow Systems MR920P is or may be the best shooting carry pistol available. Based off the proven MR920 design, it features a compensator and is very flat shooting. This thing is chocked full of features and leaves no stone unturned.
We cover the shootability and compare it to the new Daniel Defense H9 as well as the Shadow Systems MR920 Elite. We essentially to a head to head with the H9 or MR920P vs H9 in about 30 Seconds and prove which one is worth it. For an EDC pistol, the MR920P or compensated MR920 is one heck of an option. It’s a fighting pistol suited for EDC or even duty use if you want to. We tried G19, G17 magazines from Glock in it without a hiccup. This pistol was 100 percent reliable as we ran Fort Scott Munitions 115 grain TUI or tumble upon impact through it.

I’ve switched over to Shadow Systems 2 years ago. This is what I’ve been waiting for. I can now carry a MR920 with a factory installed comp.
This thing is almost unbelievably flat shooting. Two other people with us when we filmed it and they shot it and couldn’t believe it
I notice a lot of people in these comments focusing on the price. I can get this or build that for less. Something i never see brought up by reviewers or commenters though is that shadow has the best warranty out there. Besides the fairly industry standard lifetime warranty except this is the life of the gun, they also have a replacement warranty. Forced to use your gun in self defense, send a copy of the police report and shadow sends you a new gun while yours is in jail. Thats truly supporting the 2nd amendment in my opinion

A few reasons I carry the shadow, it’s like a Glock but better, it has all the stuff I’d do to a Glock but better than I can do myself, great trigger, good warranty, made in Texas, and like you said I know they got my back…I’ll carry a shadow 920 until shadow makes a hammer DA/SA….
No you can’t build the same gun for that price. It will always come out higher. I wanted to build a Glock. 19x and all the similar parts would’ve been 2-300 more. If you’ve got good deals for stuff than potentially but that’s an exception
Whos building a gucci glock with am optic for $1k? I bought an MR920 Elite w/ holosun 507C X2 for something like $1050 out the door.
I built a glock back like 14 years ago that I carried for 13 years. Lone wolf frame with all glock factory internals with a 3.5lb connector. The combat stainless slide with a lone wolf match barrel and 20lb I believe captured guide rod and spring. Everything else glock fa tory internals including maritime spring cups. Ameriglo ghost ring night sights (best irons on the market if not running a red dot hands down). That build cost me 650. No stippling, no optics cut, no undercut, no extra slide serrations or slide cuts.

Wow. One of the boldest and direct reviews I've seen for the MR920P. I appreciate you being candid and showing the performance comparison. I have an MR920 with a radian on it. I'd love tonl see a comparison between this set up and the MR920P. Although with the radian adding another $400 to the total cost, I'd say the MR920P would be the clear winner. Tha KS for the video.
Here what I can tell you about the radian stuff vs this, they are very similar and in fact if you already have one like that, to go out and get a P variant MR920 or XR920 is going to give you relatively the same performance. If you want a factory option which does look cleaner with that performance, the SS MR920P or XR is worth it
@HuntFishShootChannel You can get the Radian setup for around 300 if you deal hunt, so combine that witha MR/XR920 FS and you're getting a setup that runs around 850 USD~ so if the setups are similar, then the combination of a FS and a Radian Blem or one that you grab on sale is probably a good option. As for the MR/XR 920P I kinda feel like they will be annoying to hunt down for a bit.

I carry the FDE MR920 Elite. I find the dot so fast after my draw, the grip feels like it was specially made for my hand, and it just plain flat shooter. Absolutely love it, I got a back up MR920 foundation series.

I have to sy, I was looking at one of these before your vid, based on your review I purchased this same pistol and I have to say, it is fantastic. A natural aim, great trijicon front sight, and compared to other similarly sized pistols I own, there is no question this has less muzzle rise, quicker target acquisition. After break-in I plan to put a Delta Point Pro on it and see how it shoots, but I like the "smaller" carry possibility without the red dot for now. Appreciate your detailed review. Subscribed.

I’m not the best resource for that as I don’t clean them much. I will put a little simple green in them or use clp and soft brush or cutip and brush them out, or I just don’t clean them 😂

What ammo you use? I constantly get failure to feed
All of them. Cheap, hollow points, it really doesn’t seem to matter. You could also have a bad batch of ammo.
I think you'll like it even more if you throw a TB(blem is cheaper) and a SS comp. Quick and accurate follow up shots.

I used to have the mr920 and really loved it, sold it so I could afford my staccato P? Love my staccato but regretted getting rid of that shadow systems gun. Just went and picked up a MR920P based off this review and man what a gun, your review is spot on!!!

Your early rant in video threw that Elephant in the room out the window.
It is for sure! It’s hard to deny how good it shoots. We figured let’s address that elephant with authority and put our audiences worries at ease. I know a lot of other tubers sell out and it becomes more obvious with all the new stuff that comes out. We see them shoot guns and make “reviews” of things we have tried and thought, well that’s not true or you are over selling something. What you see on video can be replicated by us, and then after that my personal opinion is just that.
They wld have to come out with this after I’ve invested in the Radian for my MR920!! Its a good pistol

Great review, I enjoyed the walk and talk at the start. I actually decided to get a SS DR920L vs modding out a Glock 34 or buying a HK VP9L because of your review. No regret what so ever. Shadow Systems is just a great company. I need to try that dot life now that closed emitters are coming on strong, that Holosun SCS 320 should mount up real nice on my DR920L…

Red dots are game changers. It’s tough to get into because it’s an entirely different method of aiming but I encourage you to get into them. A RD is a cheat code once you get used to it. Personally will never buy another pistol I don’t at least have the option to mount something to. Stay safe

I owned a Cr920p for a while. While it wasn't problem free for me, the comp worked and definitely made me a believer in carry comps.

Yeah I had a similar experience. My CR920P shot so flat and was impressively accurate, but I could just never get it to run 100%. The MR and XR models were both 100%
I’ve followed for awhile but after this, it’s time to sub!!! My customers run these but haven’t had the same good luck, can’t get their lazy asses back out to the range to finish testing Lol I’m in Kentucky so hopefully spring is actually here and we can continue testing SOON!! 🤞 Lol thanks man!!

Big fans and we have had malfunctions during the break in period on the XR920 and DR920 but that’s it. Nothing outside of those. There is a lot of mediocre ammo out there too, which is funny because we can easily identify bad batches of ammo when we get malfunctions like light primer strikes using the same ammo with 4 different guns. It’s very common

Oh my goodness that thing is flat! I am definitely getting a SS but I think I have decided on the XR920P. Can’t go wrong with either! Looks so good with that defender on there too!! My last MR920 experience was a totally terrible experience. Malfunction after malfunction, I even posted a video of it. With that said, I like the gun and firmly believe the malfunctions were mag based and not the gun itself. I plan to get behind another MR920 variant soon for more testing. Nice video, that MR920P looked smooth.
Thanks for sharing your experience. The crazy part about gun malfunctions is that the overwhelming majority of them are mag or ammo related and then once those are ruled out, it’s the gun. Hope you have some good luck with your next batch of testing!

My wife and I are hoping to get our conceal carry license in the future, and we therefore went window shopping for micro 9mm. However, we were having issues because they're so small, almost none of them felt that comfortable in the hand, and the few that did still weren't great.
The very first gun that my wife held and loved was Shadow Systems MR920 Elite. At that time, I hadn't heard of that brand, but since researching them, I am very impressed.
Since that update, I am giving very serious thought to forgetting about micro 9mm, and just getting a compact or subcompact pistol. At this point, it's a toss up between the MR920 Elite and the Walther PDP Pro Compact SD. Gotta hold both before we make our final decisions.
Both those are excellent choices. For EDC, you will find the PDP will be larger, heavier and thicker.
@@HuntFishShootChannel Interesting and good to know. I noticed I need something thicker than an inch because that was one of my issues with a lot of the micro 9mm. Even the Springfield Hellcat Pro, which was big enough for my hand, felt uncomfortable because of how thin it was. I'm hoping to go to a gun store within the next 72 hours or so to find out which I prefer. Thanks for the feedback.

This is one decision I’m sure you won’t regret. My brother shot mine and switched from his sig also. So much smoother and not as snappy and stiff as the sig. I really wanted to like the sigs when they came out but they just didn’t feel great in my hands. I’m sure with time I could have trained that out but the shadow systems just felt right off the bat and in my opinion they have done everything Glock should have done years ago.🤷♂️

@@Try2K3tchup depends on what you like. I have a 43x that I keep for summer time carrying with certain clothing but I really don’t like shooting the slim line pistols. With slightly bigger hands it’s tougher to grip and keep tight for follow ups. The MR920 is just perfect for me and I’d rather be carrying that. My opinion it’s definitely worth the money and the basic combat version is all you really need. Unless you’re into the extra slide cuts and threaded barrel’s and stuff. In my opinion this piece is definitely worth it but everyone is different and their style should be too. Good luck man. If you do pick one up i think you will be pleased. I know for myself I’d rather have a little thicker frame to have this kind of shoot ability. And my brothers sig was the one with the compensated slide, I don’t really remember the exact model. He only had it a few weeks. Put an optic on the mr920 and it’s like a cheat code.😂🤷♂️just runs and doesn’t miss.

I've been rocking the mr920 elite with shadow systems thread on comp from before they came out with these. I love it. I'll probably go with the full size p model since I have the cr920 on layaway already

I got a stomach condition that prevents me from gaining weight ( my wife’s says Im lucky) and I weigh 115 pounds. When I started carrying , I started with the S&W Shield. I noticed it was too snappy for me. Then I went the opposite way with a G19X. I carry it with a 2 port 417 comp, and after thousands of rounds through it, I can confidently say carrying with a comp is no issue at all. That Shadow System is just a piece of art.

What is your thoughts on pmags for Glock 19? I have a gen 2 19 I carry its all new internals but do you feel they are good vs the factory mags?
I would say the Glock brand mags are better. But I haven’t personally experienced any issues with PMags for the Glock or SS pistols. Many folks say they need cleaned more than Glock brand mags but again that hasn’t been my experienced. My theory is carry or duty use, use Glock mags. For range, competition or training scoop up Pmags for extras.

Honestly, the price actually seems right on par with what you would expect if you built a similar pistol.
The build that I carry is a P80 lower with a Overwatch precision trigger system, a swampfox wolverine slide with L2D enhanced internals, xs suppressor height sights, and a holosun 507c. Honestly, if I added the radian afterburner I’d be at $1100-$1200 easily.
Also, love the fort Scott ammo! They make some good stuff.

I bought an MR920P and have about 1500 rounds through it. Flawless. I also have a G19 with the radian ramjet/afterburner. They both shoot great. I had to mess with the recoil spring on the G19, I haven’t done anything with the MR920P. I highly recommend it.
I love Ss and own one already, but the uniqueness of the H9 makes me want to make it my next firearm.

Love my mr920 elite for my off duty carry. My favorite pistol. Only issue I've had is using the 21 round pmags in it

Thank you for your honesty in the review, I found a DR920 out here where I live with an Optic sight for only $600. It is used but it's in amazing condition. The first time I picked it up, I was shocked at how light it was. I have a Glock 21 45 ACP that I carry on duty (NYSP), and that thing is heavy. I also carry a Ruger security 9 (9MM), and to be honest, that thing is heavy too.
I compared the weight of the DR920 to both and was shocked it was lighter than both of them. I am beyond excited to shoot to this thing. When I held it and racked the slide, I just knew right away that it was the gun for me!
I finally found a pistol that I could carry every day.

I still can’t believe NYSP carries a 21, that is so antiquated. I was Trooper with OSHP for 12 years before I recently left for a job outside of LE and we carried the Sig 320 and i actually really liked it. However 320s are not my favorite.

This is an awesome review. I have 3 shadow systems pistols and love them all. What screws did you use to mount the Vortex on there?
If I remember correctly, it was the ones for the delta point or Holosun. They were shadow screws though and I had to shave a sliver off the spacer plate for the delta point

I was considering the xr920p to replace my Glock 45 with ramjet. But now thinking about the MR. Since you shot them both is the XR a bit less recoil and all around better?Do you feel you have enough grip with the MR? Thanks and excellent review.
The MR920 can pull the roll of a full size fighting pistol while also being smaller to conceal. If you are looking for an OWB or duty gun, the XR920P gets my vote. For EDC, the MR920P. You get a full grip with the MRP and will say the XR does recoil slightly less.

DAYUM that shoots flat. I’ve got 5 Shadow Systems guns, all from the now discontinued Combat line. I really don’t want to add an Elite model, but that MR920P has me thinking. Excellent review as usual sir!😎✌️

I bought a blemished Threaded barrel and their comp for my MR920. Happy with it, plus cheaper than another pistol.

You and a couple other reviewers have me looking at a Platypus. I've got 26 custom designs saved on their website.😁 It would be my first 2011 and using the MR920 mags is a huge selling point for me. Now if I can only get them to accept my FFL dealer request.

I had an MR918 that I thought was really good except for the trigger, which was terrible and gritty. I bought an XR920 Foundation Series and with their Patriot Protector program it was cheaper than a G19MOS. I bought the Radian Ramjet and DPM recoil system for it but haven't actually done anything to the pistol yet. Definitely looking at either this gun or the CR920P though for carrying.

It’s been great, we sent that back and had it returned from them. They returned it back to zero and no issues! Really a big fan of them. Clear glass super crisp dot. We recommend them!
I have the mr918. love it. Now I have the mr920p. Love it more. Excellent weapon especially for carrying purpose. Shoots accurate fast and FLAT

My edc is a mr920 elite and I got the comp last year when it came out and I love it, I wonder how much a difference there is since the screw on comp is twice the size mabey more.

I am going through my personal reliability test for a Bul Armory Axe Hatchet C and it has not gone as I would hope. Shooting performance is improving and it is growing on me. After watching this video, I wished I had gone with the Shadow Systems MR920P instead of the Bul Armory. My EDC is a Sig P365 Macro. Another one that I would like to try/buy is the CZ Shadow 2 Compact, but it's scarce on the market right now. That would be interesting training a draw and a double action first shot. Never done that.
The H9 review caught my attention and I am glad I watched it. After this video review I subscribed.

I bought the MR920 and later 1 of their blemished threaded barrels and the SS comp. Really like shooting the comp. Return to zero is noticeably quicker for me.
Side note: Do you know of any comps that would work as well on the Platypus?

Thank you for doing a limp wrist shot. I was just thinking that everyone has perfect form testing pistols in videos, but the real world isn't always as reliable. Also lol that the muzzle barely rises even limp wristed, guess that comp really works. Really debating this vs the 2024 Staccato C.
We get many questions about shooting with a comp and how it is with a less than ideal grip, so it’s been answered. The new C is a sweet pistol!

Got a question, you said you shot this right out of the box and hadn’t put any rounds through it. How did you zero you optic so accurately when you said this was right out of the box. I’m a tad bit skeptical that those were the first rounds through that MR920. My CR920P ran like crap until after the break in period.
That is correct. What I have found is most red dots out of the box or ones taken from other pistols which have been zeroed are close enough to shoot accurately 100 percent of the time. Now for final zero or pin point accuracy they must be zeroed but nearly all or all we have used will shoot well within an 8” circle out of the box. In addition you can slave the dot to the sights out of the box for rough zero or making the zeroing process faster

XR920P. That’s easy. I find I can shoot it faster and flatter than my AXG Legion. Now if you aren’t a Glock grip angle fan or just want the 320, the AXG is the way to go!

I EDC an Sig X-Macro Comp with 17+1 with the slide ports. (I won't call it a comp per se) But the size and weight makes for a very capable EDC for carry. I am intrigued by the SS MR920P after watching your video. I would be it fills and fits my hand a bit better than the narrow Sig P365 X-macro comp. But man, even though other pistols feel better in my hand, I shoot the sig as good as I need to and it's smaller and lighter (I think?) Welcome your thoughts. PS: Love your matter of fact candor. SINCE YOUR FAMILIAR WITH YOUR 365 CHECK OUT THE WILSON COMBAT GRIP FRAME FOR IT. I HAVE BIG HANDS AND THE GRIP REALLY FEELS GREAT IN THE HAND. IS HAS A MORE AGGRESSIVE TEXTURE AND IS I BELIEVE A LITTLE THICKER WITH A LITTLE PALM SWELL. BUT IT MAKES THE GUN FEEL BETTER IN THE HAND. IM WAITING FOR A COURT DECISION TO BE MADE IN MY STATE TO ABOLISH OUR GOV'S 15 ROUND LIMIT ON HANDGUN MAGS. HOPEFULLY IT WILL AND I WILL PURCHASE A 365 MACRO AND A WILSON GRIP FRAME FOR IT.
I can speak to this! I am an 10 year LEO, I have carried a glock 19 for years, a little over a year ago I went with the x macro for summertime edc. The macro is an awesome gun and the fact that it holds 17rd is amazing!!! That being said I just switched back to the SS MR920P for the fact I have a bigger hand and just can get a much better grip on a glock 19 sized grip. I shot the macro fine if I’m poking holes in paper, but when training and drawing from concealment the thicker grip just works for me better. Also the mr920p shoots way flatter than the macro, it shoots almost as flat as my staccato p

I shootout the X Macro really well but guns like a PDP or HK VP9 SK feel better in my hand. I just like the smaller carry aspect (size/weight) of the X Macro. But not saying it’s the right solution or better. It is just a bit less intrusive for carry.

Well all those are important factors but the MR920P is a significantly flatter shooting and handles like a full size gun with a comp. It’s frankly unmatched by every pistol on the market in it’s category with the exception of a high end comped 2011
I bought this exact model and ran about 600 rounds through it. The clip in the compensator broke where the barrel goes in to the the compensator. Wondering if this has been a common problem or a one off ? Got to agree with this assessment though that this is an excellent gun. Hopefully Shadow Systems has a solution if it is happening frequently.
I haven’t heard that nor had that issue, when did it happen? During disassembly or shooting?
Best switch I made in my opinion. Have all kinds of pistols but always carried the 19 and the 43x until 2 months ago around the time you made this video. Bought a Shadow Systems and haven’t carried the Glocks since.🤷♂️ of course that’s only my opinion. But I’m sure of it and this piece with an optic is like a cheat code. And this is most definitely the firearm I’d want in my hands if I had to make that tough shot.

Was considering getting a 45 but I know when I do I’m gonna end up spending another 500 plus on an optic and it’s easy to dump 1200 in the blink of an eye 😂😂😂 trying to just wait and make sure the priorities are taken care of first.
