Rediscovered this by pure chance playing on radio a few days ago, and was struck by the sheer brilliance of the song. Back in 1982 I was 16 and leaving school with the world at my feet and my whole life lying ahead of me. The 80s were great days to be a teenager, filled with excitement and optimism, and the amazing soundtrack that the era provided. This was a popular enough track back in the day, but it's only now, 40 years later, that I can truly appreciate the incredible songwriting and lyrics which this song contains. The vocals here are simply spine tingling and almost brought an unexpected tear to my eye. A tear perhaps for my long lost youth, and for 40 years that have just flown by way too quickly, This is a really beautiful song, reminding me of the happiest of times, but also perhaps reminding me a little of what might have been.

I didn't hear all of my heart in 82 barley heard hungry like the wolf, I think it was 83 when smokie sings was hit that how i remember ABC. I think I finally heard this song in 2023 when my kids got me Spotify and it was on 82 hits. Happy accident.

Next year 2024 will mark 40 years ago when I left university. ABC was a tremendous band and underrated sadly, but they were remembered by so many of us who were there. Martin Fry had a strong voice that would make people stop and listen. ABC's early 80s songs were genius 'Look of Love' and later 'When Smokey Sings'. Sad to get old and see what now passes for music. Peace.
Saw them supporting Toploader and Robbie Williams at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 2000 and they blew everyone else off the stage. Lexicon of Love was one of the best pop albums of the 80's. Just magical

I remember being 20 and my girlfriend at the time had just broken up with me. I had this song on high rotation singing along with tears running down my face. Anyway I’m 60 now , well and truly move on. But still love the song 😃
