    I appreciate Master Ip Ching for his speed and focus in his demonstration. He shows me a little more of what proper application of the full system of training can do for each individual movements. I’m grateful for all that he has given and for those martial arts brothers and sisters who share.
    Thank you.

    Wooden dummy in 2nd section has a reversed hand. Left arm is actually emulating opponent's right arm and vice versa. Therefore, the first 3 actions are 'outside' pak sau. With this you are using opponent's arm to block his second punch. Does it make more sense?

    i do TKD and wing chun. and trust me. its beast. i've been in a fight and wing chun is only way i can fight once one of my classmate tried to do a Mid section take down. and kneed him in the face and he quickly picked himself up and tries to punch me and I used Tan sao on the inside and then did my chain punches, and once he tried to make space I quickly did a front kick. and knock him down. He wasnt unconscious but he didnt tried to get up after that.
    so Tbh wing chun is only for self defense and is an Art in china. its not meant for cage fighting for those filty animals that Always compares everything to UFC or mma. some Martial arts isnt created for that matter. so keep it to yourself. and stop disrespecting the chinese culture.

      +Raghav Kumar yeah its about how u apply it in real fight :) If u cant calm and think fast enough u'll be wrecked and force to use Street fighting Styles.

    • @BossAlley
      @BossAlley 8 лет назад +1

      +Raghav Kumar yeah! thats why u need to be calm because most of the guys that goes all out and goes beserk, usually makes pretty obvious mistakes. and u have 1/20 if encountering an mma fighter. or muay thai and such.

    • @GGman2019

      They compare it because we have yet to see a win chung guy do good in MMA all that fancy arm stuff will go away with 1 good kick to your lower leg

    He's not sloppy because he is old. That demo @ 1:50 was mis timed, simple as that. Neither of them are worried about that "mistake" because both are highly respected masters. Those of us who know what we are looking at are not bothered about it because we understand what is being transmitted here. @1:45 Ip Ching can "catch" a punch. I've seen it. GM Kwok can do it, so can I. I have a student who's fav technique is to do this with tok sau to snap the elbow. V effective in real time. Regards.

    LOL. Ok. That was funny.
    Jeet Sau or the move you are talking about is from Cham Kiu correct?
    The one where you do a Jat Sau and Dai Jeung/Tok Sau and Low Pak Sau - depending on your teacher?
    It's name given in the WSL lineage is Jeet Sau as in 'Jeet' in Jeet Kuen Do.
    Its a little too risky to use a technique like that to try to catch a punch that's coming at you at 100 miles an hour isn't it?

  • @M0nk3yK1ng1
    @M0nk3yK1ng1 12 лет назад

    @gongsaupham Even when you're old, you shouldn't be that sloppy if you've been training since 1962. At 2:26, I'm aware that there isn't a hook coming, but on the street it can be. Remember that Ving Tsun is based on concepts, not techniques. At 1:45, everything can be much simpler. Instead of fook sau(?), you can use better options like taahn sau or paahk sau. Never ever, try to catch a punch. Even with good timing, it's hard to pull of.

    How can IP Ching catch his student second punch if he VERY forceful and fast and aim to blow his head off!? The second part of wooden dummy seem doesn't make any sense!? But i do respect the Grandmaster IP Ching inspiration about the art of Wing Chun!

    • @user-ok2dj6xg5j
      @user-ok2dj6xg5j 6 лет назад

      p wong when he caught the first punch he should have moved to the left side together with the strike, hence when the 2nd strike do come you should have been out of the punch's way regardless of the force. But in this video, ip ching seems to stand directly at the punch....which would get hit....

    not beast.
    Wing Chun is to close in on your enemy and decrease the distance between you and your enemy. attacking and defending at the same time.
    involving TKD kicks involves space between the two.
    thus why Wing Chun kicks are more close.
    be powerful, from small distance.

  • @anthonymclaughlin1996
    @anthonymclaughlin1996 11 лет назад +1

    That's ok. Catching punches with a Tok Sau/Dai Jeung is unrealistic and only seen in movies. The technique is used for lifting momentarily to regain position and centre against an opponent - not for emulating Donnie Yen in the Ip Man movie.
    This is so people don't believe what you say and try this in a real situation when defending themselves and wake up from a Coma to discover that they have no teeth left.

  • @jasma98
    @jasma98 11 лет назад

    Hello again Anthony. It seems as though you have a bee in your bonnet. Do you view yourself as some sort of protector of the people? Which people are you referring to in your comment? Oh, you mean the who might be stoopid enough to believe what I say and try this in a real situation? I wouldn't worry if I were you. In any case, you are such a fantastic hero that you'd probably be there just in time to save them from the perils of attempting such martial foolery. Keep up the good work :-)

    I come from Shotokan & TKD and I'm a "low to the ground" built fighter, so unfortunately I don't have flashy kicks, but my kicks have POWER from Shotokan and ACCURACY kicks from TKD. If I can do damage from afar, then that's the idea (for me, as we're all adjust to our stature differently. Ip's son added things as well....higher kicks, etc.

    I think it's sloppy and that the interpretations are rather off. For example 1:45, there's no way that you can catch a punch. If you can, you won't have a chance to do it because you've taken his balance away after the fak sau. And 2:26 is another example of a rather wrong interpretation. Who says that a straight punch comes after a low punch. It could be a hook punch. If its a hook punch you'll be screwed when you step in with a fak sau.
