    I’m only 22. Have watched all your videos, your channel is my favourite RUclips channel. I do not have diabetes, but eat mostly low carb and test my blood sugar often. I would like to be healthy from a young age, and avoid ever getting diabetes. I feel so lucky and privileged to have this information before I actually get diabetes. Thank you so much. I really appreciate all that you do.

      If your not diabetic i wouldnt check sugar levels unless your just experimenting foods however id recommend getting a a1c test

    • @digimom82
      @digimom82 5 лет назад +3

      @@shorb2289 you can do a 60-day or 30-day average on your blood glucose meter and that will give you a blood sugar reading average and then you look up the A1C for that average. Having to get an A1C done by your doctor or even having it tested yourself through requestatest Etc can be expensive. There are companies that do cell A1C home test kits and you can look into those.

I get really great recipes from Pinterest . Facebook also has some great low carb and keto groups. I use coconut flour a lot and sour cream is a staple in a lot of dessert recipes I do. I just bought monk fruit sugar to try out and was wondering if you have had any experience using this? Thanks again for a new dessert idea!

My oil of choice was coconut oil instead of butter. By 1030p.m. i was at 96 on blood, and in 9 a.m. today, 95 on meter. Im glad i copy my day of eating. Now i can do it again. I also added almond extract in the batter. Ate with butter. I love your videos. I too have a collection of lanterns for emergency or enjoyment. Good luck.take care.

      @@beatdiabetes3 Same here. At first, it bothered me, but glucose changes can be seen in as little as 15 minute increments with me. I just test in series and take an average. The baseline shows consistency, not individual readings several hours apart. To see this baseline, I kept a log, but not anymore. I'm good here.

    Couple of things: Butter or oil the sides of the mug beforehand and the mug cake just falls out (no need for a knife). I use Erythritol as a sweetner, it has zero impact on glucose levels. Stevia has some degree of impact on blood sugar levels (as reflected in the GI chart).

    As for me, I LOVE baking in the kitchen! It's great therapy with delicious results! If you heat a little cream to warm, put it over the chocolate chips and stir to totally melted and creamy, you can mix it into your cake and it won't "bottom out!" Just dont add cold cream to melted chocolate as it will seize up. Cream must be heated some. REDI WHIP is a staple for me as a whip cream if I don't whip up my own. I always keep a carton in the fridge. What I'm not going to use, like a half or third left over, I freeze. Totally thaw it out but still very cold and you can whip it up again! I use whipped cream A LOT in place of frosting (🤢) (even as I kid, I hated icings!)stabilized with plain melted gelatin so I can also pipe it in decorations like you would buttercream, using rosettes and swirls and it won't collapse.

    Thank you for a great video again! Anything we accomplish in life starts with the mindset we bring to the challenge. We have to take ownership of what food is "ours" and not concern ourselves about what others have. I enjoy adding just a little cacao powder to my coffee by blending it with 15 ml. half and half and five drops of stevia in the bottom of my cup until a chocolate paste forms, then i brew my coffee on top of that and stir. Since the chocolate is in a paste form at the bottom of the cup it will blend into the hot coffee nicely. I can add more half and half as desired since it only has 1 net carb but I don't exceed 45 ml. It can be drank hot or put in the fridge to drink cold later if preferred. I believe your sugar dropped after the meal because of the dawn effect. Our liver is stronger than our pancreas is my guess, it produces glucose faster in the morning than the pancreas can keep up with. Enjoy your videos as always. Keep up the good work!

    Hello Dennis! I'm so thankful for you and your zeal for sharing your wonderful ideas!!! I've ordered one book and the thumb drive so I can share what I'm learning with my diabetic friends. Everything I learn from you is like a gift!! I'm not diabetic, but in October, 2018 I was declared by my doctor to be pre-diabetic. I began in earnest to eat lo carb Jan. 24, 2019 when I was introduced to KETO by a friend. I'm doing well. My BS is under control, and I have a very strong desire to help others discover what I now know. One of the biggest blessings I've received lately is the discovery of you and your wonderful videos! If possible, would you please test the BS monitor that doesn't require sticking your finger? I'm with Benedicta on that aspect of doing exactly what you say you are doing. I'm planning more investigation before I buy one, but I would greatly appreciate hearing your opinion about the newer kind of BS machine. Praise the Lord for your work! I love Benedicta's humor. She's SUCH a jewel! Sincerely, DeAnna Venable from Garland, TX.

    • @deannavenable8352
      @deannavenable8352 5 лет назад

      Dennis, I have changed my mind about getting the Libre blood sugar monitor. I asked my doctor for a prescription for the Libre , and when I went to the pharmacy to pick it up I understood what he meant when he said, "They're quite expensive, did you know that?" I told him yes and thought I knew what to expect. But was I EVER WRONG!!!! The reader machine is about $85 and the little white discs you have to wear are applied to your body every two weeks. Each box of discs costs approximately $40 and it takes two boxes to get you through an entire month. I think I'll just have to learn how to poke my finger as I cannot afford THAT much expense just to satisfy my curiosity. I'm not diabetic. I just want to do like you.... test after eating certain meals so I will KNOW what meals are best/safe for me. I've grown kind of lax about counting my daily carbs. My a1c is 5.8, so that's not really great, but within the limits. If you do the experiment with the Libre, I think many people will do as I am doing....waiting for the price on the new technology to go down. Many thanks! DeAnna from Garland, TX

    Thanks for another tasty recipe Dennis. Will definitely give it a try. One of my after meal desserts is a square piece of Lindtt supreme dark chocolate (90% cocoa). It's fairly big so it satisfies me. The whole 100g bar has 14g of carbs, of which 11g are fiber carbs, so a measly 3g of net carbs. It also has 30g of saturated fat. But I didn't just settle for the nutritional facts, I tested myself when I first added it to my dessert menu. Before eating one square piece, my blood glucose was at 97, 30 minutes later it was at 102, and an hour after it read 94, so I guess it passed the Mike The Meter test with flying colors!

    Thanks, Dennis. I have your chia pudding recipe every weekday morning. I trust your recipes! By the way I'll share real quick how I make my chia pudding. I don't remember exactly how you did yours but I think it's very similar. 2 tablespoons chia seeds. Quarter cup heavy whipping cream. 1/2 cup water. Mix mix mix mix mix. Splash of vanilla and double splash of sugar-free syrup.
    I can't wait to try this chocolate cake. Also we use your pizza recipe a lot. I know you switch to one tortilla but we really like it with two, the original way you made it. And of course no pork. LOL. Have a great day and keep this great information coming!

    Well, I had a 'go' at making this diabetic chocolate cake . I wish mine slid out as nearly as yours. However, it did not taste too bad. I had to use two tablespoons of coconut flour as I had no almond flour. As a result, it did taste quite a bit of coconut.

    The lowering of your blood sugar is probably due to the tolerance of the meter. I have 2 meters one of which is a Freestyle like yours. It usually reads lower than my Bayer Advance that my insurance company provides me. Maybe it would be a good idea for a future video to check your blood glucose with two different meters back to back using the same hole you poked in your finger. I did this the other day and my readings were 21 points different. Not a good feeling when one is trying to manage there blood sugar. Keep up the good work Dennis. This makes me hungry for some long forgotten cake.

      @Harry Langley … yes, the meters make a difference, as do the actual test strips. I have two different manufacturer's and they are never the same values. But they both show the same trends. And, I have tested from the exact same blood right after each other.

    • @edgardodelgadolebron

      he make the test with the same meter so the importance is the difference from one reading to the other

    You should use pecans instead of walnuts as they have less net carbs per gram and slightly less oxalates. They actually taste better too!

      @@randyalanjones Congratulations,that was a huge undertaking. How long did it take? Are you finished now? It a slippery slope too if I allowed myself all the time,but if I restrict it to once every couple weeks ,monthly, or special occasion, it's likely ok. I'm a carb addict.

    Damn I almost bought into this seeing how I was diagnosed with being Pre Diabetic and this was the very first video that I clicked on…the thing that makes me wonder is how come he didn’t know the exact amount of Carbohydrates?…isn’t that what I read on the disclaimer..(Lowered Carbohydrates)… All he knew is that it lowered his blood sugar, but not the total amount of carbohydrates in each ingredient in order for him to be so successful. I guess I’ll have to just google each ingredient and do the math myself before I try it.

    • @beatdiabetes3
      @beatdiabetes3  Год назад

      I use the number of carbs as a guide, but it is never the final word for me. The ultimate question for me is whether my glucose meter (Mike) likes a meal or food or dislikes them. If my meter gives me a good number an hour or an hour and a half after eating, I am happy and don't worry about how many carbs I just ate.
