I wish elgato would come up with a cap card that will allow you stream Old retro consoles like Nes, genesis, snes, Gcube and so on along with newer consoles. I just found out that my elgato hd 60 pro wont take any composite or component links even with adapters.
I remember when I got my Elgato capture card to record from my Nintendo Switch, I first got the HD60 Pro one unaware that it is only for desktop PCs and not Laptops, I wasn’t sure how to insert it into my laptop, searched everywhere for a tutorial, but if course I was only getting tutorials on how to insert it into a desktop PC, then eventually I saw that one website said that the HD60 Pro is only for desktop PCs, that was when I realised that I had wasted my money on the wrong capture card, so I then ordered the HD60 S, it came a month later, and it worked fine with my laptop, but I am trying to get a new USB 3.0 cable as the one that came with it no longer fits in the USB 3.0 port on my laptop, it worked fine in the other ports until it was upgraded to Windows 11.
Thank you so much for this breakdown on all your capture cards. I was originally going to go for the HD60 S+ because I don’t know much about the PCIE alternative. I have an extra slot on my rig so I’ll be going that route instead. Will be getting the 4K60 Pro MK.2. Again, thank you everyone over at Elgato 🙏😊
I use elgato everyday to stream :) I’m wondering how to change the size of my gameplay window when streaming. I can change the size of webcam and pictures but never the main game screen? Help
Hello Steggy, (hope I spell your name correctly), I want to be able to use my Dell lap top for stuff where I'm recording away from my desk, and I wan't to be using my desk. I recorded a board game video using my Dell Laptop and Logitech 922 cam, but I had to struggle w/ it a bit. The web cam kept auto focusing too much. I had to really edit the final part. I think it may have been my own lack of knowledge there, but instead of playing w/ that, I've decided to go up to something better that is more portable like a mirrorless DLSR cameral. That way I can take pictures when I'm out and about to use, rather than just in my house which the web cam restricts me to. I've been working on computer games since then, but at some point I want to be able to use a camera instead of the web cam. I've been looking at different mirrorless DLSR cameras like the Cannon M50, because i was recommended, but I'm seeing videos where it doesn't have a clean HDMI video out. I was really hoping one of your products would do that, but you didn't mention it. Even if the camera didn't send it like that, I was hoping your product could. My desktop is still running 2.0 for the USB and most of the Elgato products are 3.0. I'm wondering how hard this will be to sort out. I am running win 10 with a Geforce GTX 980 video card. I know it has on board memory but I can't remember how much. I also have an i7-3770 cpu. Not sure if that matters or not. I already have your Stream Deck (15 button) and I love it. It has endless possibilities for programming. Anyone that doesn't have one should seriously consider getting one. I picked it up orginally to use w/ recording and obs. I just have to make sure obs is active and push a button w/o going to obs. As I understand it, there will be a lot of possibilities for streaming too. I looked at CamLink but it has been sold out for over 2 months on Amazon. Wasn't even sure if this was what I needed or not. I also, have an X-box, I might record from. Plus I'm looking at streaming at some point. So I'm not sure I fully understand which I need. If the internal has clean hdmi, then it's what I need but will alienate using my lap top. I don't have the money to get the wrong thing.
@@Soulcommander looks like it helps if you decide initially whether you want usb vs pcie now or in the future (laptop, mac vs desktop) then work up a decision from there. camlink and camlink4k and camlink pro are similar except for resolution and number of ports as the pro has 4 I believe). the camlink lineup works good for cameras because they get detected as a webcam on the computer. if you are connecting a console or second pc and playing on tv and not your monitor then capture card would be better option as you can pass out the signal from the capture card so console > capture card > tv. at least this is what I gathered from all these videos.
anyone who has a laptop but is interested in the PCIE capture cards, you can get something called a thunderbolt as an extension and connect the PCIE capture card to it. Idk how well it works but ik it’s an option I’m looking into myself

Hi, I have a question: Which among the cards mentioned would give you the lowest FPS drop possible when recording while gaming? I run a single PC setup at the moment at 1440P 144hz however, recording and gaming at the same time(without capture card) causes 10-30fps drop. I just want to know what my possible options are to be able to record with the lowest FPS drop possible for my benchmark channel here on youtube. Thank you very much.
My biggest request is since the og gamecapture is discontinued is for s new method of capturing retro consoles or wii or ps3 all all consoles that cannot be captured through hdmi without a work around alot of retro systems can produce a very clean RGB signal but would require upscaling which would be the most amazing thing for consoles like snes n64 playstation or gamecube
I have the 4k60 pro Mk1 and I hate not having HDR passthrough it's so annoying. That's all I really want, should I get the Mk2 for the added HDR passthrough or should I drop the extra money for a 4k60S+? I mostly record but do stream from time to time, I was thinking Mk2 seeing as it's cheaper and similar hardware to what i'm already used to, but was wondering if anyone had an opinion of the 4k60S+ betting better in any way.

I take it the HD60S+'s USB-C port shouldn't wobble and wiggle when you put the USB-C cable in? Nor is it supposed to make clicking noises when it wobbles around I take it? I got the HD60S+ to work once with my Switch, streamed for 2 hours and then the next time I went to use it, it gave me laggy, choppy footage without audio. I really hope it's just my copy that's defective since when it worked the streaming was silky smooth.

I only need the gameplay audio to come through, no party chat, I'm assuming I won't need to worry about the chat link etc if I just want gameplay audio? I have a MIC/CAMERA that I use separately on my PC anyway so no need to worry about that. I'll be capturing at 4k60 and streaming at whatever Twitch allows which I think is 1080p60. Is the HD60 S+ the best option?
I bought an S+ a few days ago. Haven't streamed before. My desktop doesn't have a USB 3.0 outlet; do they make an adapter? I only have "standard" USB ports. My stream screen is just a black screen so I'm assuming it's the USB port that is causing me issues. I'm just trying to stream a mobile game; no PS, XB or anything crazy. Don't even need voice. Just to stream the game from my iPhone. Help?
I'm a little confused about something with the 4K60 S+. Is there a 200ms delay only when capturing/streaming to a PC or is this delay also present when standalone capturing directly to an SD card? I've never owned a capture card before so delay seems like a pretty big sticking point to me.
@Michael San Hey there, I bought this device a while back and am glad to report that I don't experience the 200ms delay when capturing directly to an SD Card. Hope that helps!

I would like to convert 4K to 1080p input to the laptop while taxing the laptop the least. I assume that would be the HD60S+ as the conversion is done internally before outputting to the laptop? And would the conversion generally be better quality than done by the consumer camera such as the Sony A6400's 1080p output? Thanks.
Maybe im overlooking something here but i cant see it haha, so the things is, My elgato will record a clip to my game capture folder on external hdd as mp4 but it will also create EGC_Library with ts files, is this normal cause its making one file for example 6GB instead of 3 cause its double. Also one issue i had last night, i was recording GT Sport on PS4 with slider all the way to best quality, recorder somewhere around 25 min maybe less, race and replay but After elgato processed the clip i only got 16:48 long clip, so its cut off a fair bit. Thanks in advance, i using Original Game Capture HD
What should I buy if I want to record but my Xbox and pc r not in the same room? I obviously cannot connect it and all I want to do on my pc is edit, is there one were I can record without connecting and edit later?
Apologies for the late comment, but using the HD60 Pro, would it be possible to now use the Elgato Game Capture HD Software for recording - specifically using the on-board encoding chip (and thus save CPU) - while simultaneously streaming in OBS, thanks to the Multi App Support? I understand that previously you needed to close the Elgato Game Capture HD Software in order to use OBS, and that the only option to record and stream at the same time was through Master Copy in Elgato's own software. Asking this as I'm currently doubting between buying the 4K60 Pro Mk.2 and HD60 Pro, and interested in the latter's on-board encoder purely from a CPU standpoint.
I bought an Elgato HD60 S+ for my dual PC stream setup. The issue I'm having, and can't seem to find any help with, is that when my stream PC is on and the HD60 S+ is acting as my duplicated second monitor, my gaming PC starts to have weird performance hiccups in games. As soon as I turn off the streaming PC, then my gaming PC goes back to running flawlessly and crushing everything I throw at it. How? Why? How do I trouble shoot this?
Question: what capture card should u get if i have a desktop for gaming and a laptop for streaming?? I bought the 4k60 pro but after watching this im confused as to which one i should have or be using for my specific set up. Any help???
So happy the 4K60 S+ exists. I have a PC I'm building, but I have it at a certain location, so I can't just take it to other places with the capture card. Luckily, I can just connect the capture card to my device and record from there without a PC having to be there. Just one question: Do these cards only work on new gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, or can they work on older consoles like the Wii U or Xbox 360?
Make sure to have a look at aspect ratios in the NVIDEA control panel, along with downloading the Sound Capture software for dual PC (PC > PC) streaming!!
Nice. I bought it and I guess what? It requires USB 3.0 port to work. I have Mac with type c ports only. All I have now is red blinking lights. Why the hell in 2022 type c to type c is not supported by elgato? What should I do now?
I have no PCIe lane free anymore, have several devices plugged in via USB 2.0 and 1 via USB 3.0, how do I know plugging in HD 60s+ doesn't overload my USB ports? Got me worried a bit :)
I want to be able to live stream with m y canon - and so I thought getting a cam link is what I wanted... however, they're all sold out or are selling for 3 times the price right now!!! I was able to purchase an HD60 S to connect my canon to my MacBook Pro - will that work??
which cannon? I'm looking at the m50 and they say it does not have clean hdmi out so I have to choose between focus and not. However, it is the one most suggest. I looked at one of the Sony since that is what I tend to buy but the recommend one there that does have clean hdmi is about 300 bucks more. I'm hoping one of these will fix that, but I know the camlink will not. Amazon has been out about 3 months. Even the other merchants that sell through them are out. From what I've heard a lot of churches and businesses wiped that out. Can't blame them.

This. Amazon UK has been sold out of the cards for over a month. Every day I check in vain for news of my 4K 60pro
oh I saw this inflation and the fucking sales taxes oh hell no it brings the price up about by 20 dollars ore more as if you're already not getting fucked! So I went on Ebay and got one for around 269.00 ish fair price in my opening I would have paid 280.00 or more on amazon EFFF that shit!
Why do videos when you can’t get them.
I need this to record 2005 DVDs into digital files
I wish elgato would come up with a cap card that will allow you stream Old retro consoles like Nes, genesis, snes, Gcube and so on along with newer consoles. I just found out that my elgato hd 60 pro wont take any composite or component links even with adapters.
Yes I have I will be upgraded into one of your Elgato capture card once I get hundreds of scriber
Be even better if anywhere had the S+ in stock -_-
I'm using 2 laptops. To maximize quality gaming on one laptop, I want to capture and record to the second laptop. Which option would be best for me?
Will there be a new card where I don’t have to install it in to a pc so I can game on the ps5 doing 120fps. Because the hd60s is capped at 60fps?
WHAT GAME IS THAT 3:23
Why doesn't the hd60s install on windows 8? The whole process has been a nightmare
Help
you can change it easily from streamlabs obs
Whoever read this 🤡
Jesus....
When your headset is plugged in to the HD60s, can other people still hear you in game?
Zallitz no you’ll have to get a chat link cable from Elgato
nice video but the who line up is still confusing.
Agree
@@Soulcommander looks like it helps if you decide initially whether you want usb vs pcie now or in the future (laptop, mac vs desktop) then work up a decision from there. camlink and camlink4k and camlink pro are similar except for resolution and number of ports as the pro has 4 I believe). the camlink lineup works good for cameras because they get detected as a webcam on the computer. if you are connecting a console or second pc and playing on tv and not your monitor then capture card would be better option as you can pass out the signal from the capture card so console > capture card > tv. at least this is what I gathered from all these videos.
I’m trying to install the software I go to the website I click on select your product and select your system and nothing happens please help me!
Hello I’m on a single pc setup and I play on a high refresh display that uses a display port . Do you have any devices that take a display port input?
Ahmad Habib curious on this as well
No. All hdmi. When you want to record set your monitor to hdmi. When you want to play in high fps switch the monitor to display port.

It's really a disappointment that the elgato 4k60 s+ can only record 1080p and 4K, I really don't know why 1440p isn't accepted.
So is the Camlink still being produced or is it end of life?
Thanks, now I know what card I want to get. Wasn’t sure till I watched this.
anyone who has a laptop but is interested in the PCIE capture cards, you can get something called a thunderbolt as an extension and connect the PCIE capture card to it. Idk how well it works but ik it’s an option I’m looking into myself
The HD60 S+ that I just got doesn’t work at all on my new MacBook Pro M1 … it keeps saying I need USB 3.0 when I know it is a USB 3.0 like what’s goin on so disappointing …
Did you figure it out? Planning on buying ELGATO 4K60 S+ OR ELGATO HD60 S+. Which one did you buy?
thanks for this breakdown of product/platform and performance.
I bought the El gato 60s the beginning of this year worker great and made the videos come out a lot better only problem Is when live streaming the sound is always delayed by like a good 3 or 4 seconds everytime I want to make sure the same shit won't happen as bad If I buy the new one, even recording and non live streaming a few video still come out with late sound input I record on a Mac lap top any reason why ?
thank you very helpful, would love a video with a brutally literal step by step on how to get videogame stream and camera stream to show up on youtube at same time, you folks make great videos
Can't wait for My elgato 4k60 s + That it finally arrives🥰😍
May I ask what you plan to do w/ it? console, camera what?

I am really struggling with the choice of the next updates to my stream setup.
I am using right now a dual PC setup (gaming rig 9900K with 2070Super + streaming rig 9900K with a 980Ti) and be nearly happy with it.
My streaming rig will capture the gaming through the HD60 Pro.
Since I upgraded my screen and be able to game in 1440p with 165Hz and G-Sync I often have problems with tearing and offsync cause of doubling the signal to the HD60 Pro.
Now I want to upgrade but what will be really the best choice? I think the interal PCIe card 4K60 Pro?
Why am I still watching these videos I’m too poor
There is a 1080p USB device that works great for those who are too poor for Elgato. I just avoid Elgato because I'm allergic to cats... jk
Great video, so informative. Thanks
Hi. Thanks for the info. I have a question. I sim race and am using a triple monitor set up 7680 x 1440. Would the HD60s+ be suitable for capturing this resolution/ game play? I'm happy for the stream to go out as 1080 but obviously still want to use the triples my end.
this video solved abosoulty nothing doesnt explain why the 4k60 s+ doesnt work on a computer when you set it up it doesnt even show the game play on the tv
Hey!i have a question pls answer this :)
Soo when i record my gameplay with obs or with my gpu software i have a fps drop will buying a capture card solved that problem? Like can i play my game while recording without losing fps?
Not unless you are using a 2nd PC
I take it the HD60S+'s USB-C port shouldn't wobble and wiggle when you put the USB-C cable in? Nor is it supposed to make clicking noises when it wobbles around I take it? I got the HD60S+ to work once with my Switch, streamed for 2 hours and then the next time I went to use it, it gave me laggy, choppy footage without audio. I really hope it's just my copy that's defective since when it worked the streaming was silky smooth.
I have HD60 S tried to capture 4 old HD tapes from a miniDV camera. The software that I am using is 4K capture utility. I could capture 2 tapes with no issue but for the 3 rd and 4rd tape I have an issue! It seems it works fine on my laptop screen but at the end file in my laptop with high capacity of 25GB is not playable!!! File is corrupted!!!!I tried several times but same issue!
I have the HD 60 since 2016, for me it's good. No necessity to buy an new one.
May I ask what all you do w/ it? I wanted something I could use to hook an cannon m50 up to my computer. Then again, maybe i need a different camera. It was the one most recommended
So your HD60 is an older one. I agree, If it isn't broken don't fix it or get a new one. I'm hoping what I go w/ will last a log time.

@@JoinTheVoidOfEnuo are you able to stream with the 4K60 S+? Or is it purely for recording game footage onto a SD card?

I would like to convert 4K to 1080p input to the laptop while taxing the laptop the least. I assume that would be the HD60S+ as the conversion is done internally before outputting to the laptop? My question is should I get this expansion card first I don’t plan on playing a lot of games. But I do record videos and stream?
Maybe im overlooking something here but i cant see it haha, so the things is, My elgato will record a clip to my game capture folder on external hdd as mp4 but it will also create EGC_Library with ts files, is this normal cause its making one file for example 6GB instead of 3 cause its double.
Also one issue i had last night, i was recording GT Sport on PS4 with slider all the way to best quality, recorder somewhere around 25 min maybe less, race and replay but After elgato processed the clip i only got 16:48 long clip, so its cut off a fair bit.
Thanks in advance, i using Original Game Capture HD
can i use capture cards to stream from one laptop? without connecting pc Or ps4 Or other devices??
What should I buy if I want to record but my Xbox and pc r not in the same room? I obviously cannot connect it and all I want to do on my pc is edit, is there one were I can record without connecting and edit later?
4K60 S+ is the only one that records directly to an SD card. You can plug that SD into your computer and edit the footage.
Why the elgato hd60s keeps disconnecting while recording and also on live streaming?

By HD60 Pro do you mean HD60+?
Question: The cam link camera compatibility page does not list Sony a6100 or a6600. Will the HD60 S+ work with either of these cameras.
I have no PCIe lane free anymore, have several devices plugged in via USB 2.0 and 1 via USB 3.0, how do I know plugging in HD 60s+ doesn't overload my USB ports? Got me worried a bit :)
Wondering if these will work at launch for the brand new generation launching.
As long at the console makers keep that HDCP off setting we will be good to go.
I want to be able to live stream with m y canon - and so I thought getting a cam link is what I wanted... however, they're all sold out or are selling for 3 times the price right now!!! I was able to purchase an HD60 S to connect my canon to my MacBook Pro - will that work??
Yes. That will work. Same basic concept.
which cannon? I'm looking at the m50 and they say it does not have clean hdmi out so I have to choose between focus and not. However, it is the one most suggest. I looked at one of the Sony since that is what I tend to buy but the recommend one there that does have clean hdmi is about 300 bucks more. I'm hoping one of these will fix that, but I know the camlink will not. Amazon has been out about 3 months. Even the other merchants that sell through them are out. From what I've heard a lot of churches and businesses wiped that out. Can't blame them.
Canon just released software to be able to use certain Canon cameras as webcams, check their site to see if yours is supported
