To clarify: Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive movement is more accurate than Rolex’s calibers. The fully-mechanical movements from GS are a little less so. - my apologies, Thomas
I have a Date Just and a Santos. I wear the Santos way more often. And it’s more versatile because of his quick change strap functionality. Santos is just a better watch in my opinion
I have a 36mm OP, Explorer 36, and Yachtmaster 37. I’m satisfied. Although I would definitely consider the DateJust as my next purchase. Hard to beat Rolex on bracelet comfort and smaller case sizes.
Good note. The power reserve indicator can be a tough one - put it in on the dial, and people say it's ugly. Put it on the back, and people say it's useless. 😐
@@Chrono24Officialhahaha you will always upset someone. I personally would prefer a power reserve indicator on the dial side, but maybe in a more discreet way.. a indicator you could hide and reveal would be awesome.
Great video! I agree, GMT is where Rolex have all beat. I love the GS GMTs the ones with rotating bezels are just too big. Tudors new BB58 GMT I think is a good competitor still loses, but closest we have in this realm. Thank as always!
Great video! Just wanted to clarify - pretty sure Grand Seiko, in particular the spring Dr. watch that you showed is definitely more accurate than a Rolex. Happy to see if I am mistaken here but I am 99% sure that grand Seco is going to have a more accurate caliber with spring drive then Rolex.
ive got a Milgaus and absolutely love it! its a super fun watch to wear and love the fact that its the one that gets the most compliments when it gets its wristtime
you nailed it with Daytona vs. VC. Absolutely spot on, appreciate your cler view on the market, both horologically but also from a luxury standpoint! Super...
Good recommendations. If having a smaller collection I like the idea of picking up your favorite from a few different brands. Maybe 1 Rolex 1 omega and 1 Cartier.
Rolex really do have some incredibly iconic watches. I like the datejust options and as much I’d love to buy the snowflake the PR and bracelet put me off. The Santos is a great option and the one id buy
You should clarify that although the mechanical versions of grand seiko have stated accuracy less than that of rolex, the spring drive grand seikos will blow rolex accuracy out of this world😊
Nice alternatives 👌 Daily wear: Omega AT, IWC Mark XX or Cartier Santos, Chrono: Zenith Chronomaster Sport or Omega Moonwatch GMT: Longines Zulu Time or Grand Seiko Sbgm221 Diver: Tudor Pelagos, panerai or Omega SMP 300. The best part you can get three of them at the same price of rolex submariner omega on 2nd hand market with great conditions ❤
Great video ! At those prices, specs do not make any difference to me; brand heritage, complications and material do. I am drawn by VC more than any other brand because it brings these 3 differentiators with the prejudices associated with Rolex (mine included 😊)
I love Rolex, but living in the UK there are very few places I feel comfortable wearing one. My Milguass is the only I I feel safe wearing, as the white dial is odd and most people think it is fake.
Oris Divers Sixty Five Chrono is a good alternative to the Rolex Daytona. Take the difference, invest it in the stock market and let it sit there for a couple of decades.
T4YC. Why is it I don't like all Rolexes and Grand Seikos? (Except Explorer 2 and Millegauss) A watch must be honest in it's origins. R & GS are so shiny. Plus SS is a bugger with it's scratchability. I love titanium, and the wear you get with it, which is truly beautiful. Also the colour of the metal is alluring. So buy a Pelagos. Wear it everyday for everything. Unlike a Rolex which you might wear to a restaurant on Saturday night, if you're careful. Those dam scratches!!!
I've never been a fan of Tudor (hate the snowflake hand, not sorry) but seeing the Tudor and Rolex side by side at 3:44 reinforced my bias. The Sub was a Spitfire parked next to a crop-duster.
So much cheaper and not as well made as the Rolex gmt of course but you have to nod to the amazingness of the TIMEX TW2V69900 Timex Q GMT Chronograph White
Rolex is so good at marketing, they make you forget about omega, VC, JLC, and other brands that are as good if not even better watch makers. Would be good if other brands step up and show the truth about their products. Rolex craftsmanship is only high mid-level for now but I'm sure that will change pretty soon. Rolexs' first goal was to make a marketing company that sells watches. Now that they sell watches, they want to sell a story...and everyone loves a good story :)
If you mean marketing as in making watches with designs that people like then yes. Rolex does a better job giving people what they want. Omega could top Rolex if it did just that.
lol you can’t say that and not include omega who market the hell out the Speedmaster, make plastic watches and throw tons of money to get Bond to wear an omega. Rolex and Omega take the spotlight away from better choices but only the most deluded omega fanboys would fail to acknowledge omegas role here
Rolex was founded by a business man and their heritage is based on lies. I'd take actual achievements from actual watchmakers over the marketing facade of Rolex
GS need to improve their bracelets but there’s just something about them that doesn’t resonate with the people and stops them breaking the omega and Rolex hegemony
@@thegraciefighter102 I agree. The clasps needs to have adjustment. I believe I saw a video saying that they have started to address this issue but it will probably be a while before it will be across the range.
GS + Make a decent Micro-Adjust Bracelet = You WIN! Omega + Make a decent Micro-Adjust Bracelet on the Aqua Terra = You WIN! Cartier + Micro-Adjust on the current excellent Santos Bracelet = You WIN! Blancpain + Micro-Adjust on the current excellent X-71 Bracelet = You WIN! Zenith + Make a decent, original, Micro-Adjust Bracelet on the Chrono Master Sport = You WIN! VC & GO = You would already WIN with better marketing! Notice a trend?!! It's all about COMFORT! Marketing aside, these brands are SO CLOSE to beating the Sheeple's choice!
You are not crazy. A plethora of better watches out there than Rolex. I opted for a few of the examples shown. I opted for a Santos large blue dial and Omega Worldtimer blue dial.
? My Rolex is plus 1 and my GS heritage is plus 3….A MONTH. So your comment in accurate with regard to a spring drive is way off and the non-SDs don’t have power reserves
Grand Seiko is less accurate than a Rolex? I didn't expect that. But anyway, I feel like Rolex is the iPhone of watches. Works well, reliable but no personality and yes, boring.
Rolex is a brilliant brand because the accuracy of the movement is superb and that is the real thing. You are selling watches to people who believe in status and all that sort of nonsense that’s why Rolex is so popular it is a brilliantly marketed product.
To clarify: Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive movement is more accurate than Rolex’s calibers. The fully-mechanical movements from GS are a little less so.
- my apologies, Thomas
Grand Seiko Tentagraph or a Seiko Hi Beat Chronograph as a Daytona Competitor.
Maybe next vid.
This one was still informative.
I have a Date Just and a Santos. I wear the Santos way more often. And it’s more versatile because of his quick change strap functionality. Santos is just a better watch in my opinion
Rolex has the competition beat when it comes to comfort and fit. Rolex have absolutely nailed it
The new Parmigiani Tondagraph GT is a great Daytona alternative. Such beautiful dials
Sooo many details to love about that watch, and the case and bracelet architecture is really compelling.
Amazing video. One of the best you’ve done!
Wow, thanks!
I was goign to say the same thing. Much better than the previous Datejust dial video.
I have a 36mm OP, Explorer 36, and Yachtmaster 37. I’m satisfied. Although I would definitely consider the DateJust as my next purchase. Hard to beat Rolex on bracelet comfort and smaller case sizes.
Useful video... Thank you!
GO seaQ for the submariner
Good recommendation - lots of personality on that dial
How about the 58 GMT?
Great Video . I enjoyed your take on alternatives watch brands . Regards Newcastle Australia
Some of the new GS models feature the power reserve indicator on the backside of the watch. Also cost about the same as a Rolex
The greatest alternative to Daytona is the Girard Perregaux Laureato chrono
Great video!
I agree, GMT is where Rolex have all beat. I love the GS GMTs the ones with rotating bezels are just too big.
Tudors new BB58 GMT I think is a good competitor still loses, but closest we have in this realm.
Thank as always!
Thanks! You’d think it would be easier for other brands to give the Rolex a run for its money, but the GMT-Master really is the blueprint.
I recently got a tissot 1972 automatic seastar with a 2481 movement, snake skin black straps. works like a dream. real head turner.
Excellent theme and very well-done video!
Could've mentioned the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, smaller and cheaper than the 45mm fifty fathoms, but still very high quality.

Best vid since the Longines one!
Another potential Daytona alternative would be the TAG Heuer Monaco due to the similar racing heritage and prestige. Great video, Thomas!
For the best alternative Sub. You can consider the Glasutta Original SeaQ at 41 mil better then Sub at almost every aspect
Rolex really do have some incredibly iconic watches. I like the datejust options and as much I’d love to buy the snowflake the PR and bracelet put me off. The Santos is a great option and the one id buy
I‘d add the Grand Seiko SBGE 283/285 (Mistflake) as alternative to the Rolex Explorer II
Good call 👍
love the recent content. very well chosen models (not only mainstream and hype versions) and awesome style of presenting
Much appreciated!
You should clarify that although the mechanical versions of grand seiko have stated accuracy less than that of rolex, the spring drive grand seikos will blow rolex accuracy out of this world😊
Clarification made. Thanks!
Hello ! Can you tell me the watch you have on your wrist ? Thank you
Hey! That's a Chronoswiss Cabrio

If you wanted a more exclusive watch than a Daytona but a less well known speedy get. A Speedmaster moonphase a very beautiful watch.
Great alternatives there!
Why not include Grand Seiko’s Tentagraph against the Daytona?
Great video ! At those prices, specs do not make any difference to me; brand heritage, complications and material do. I am drawn by VC more than any other brand because it brings these 3 differentiators with the prejudices associated with Rolex (mine included 😊)
The issue against the Cartier santo is it’s a scratch magnet. Beautiful, but gets ugly fast.
If you want a Rolex, there is no substitute.
I love Rolex, but living in the UK there are very few places I feel comfortable wearing one. My Milguass is the only I
I feel safe wearing, as the white dial is odd and most people think it is fake.
No mention of Sky Dweller... :|
The obvious alternative to the Daytona has to be the Omega Speedmaster Racing, hassn’t it?
You forget to mention the fairly new black and white Tudor Diver. From the looks and quality, a good alternative to the Sub.
True! The monochrome is great!
Oris Divers Sixty Five Chrono is a good alternative to the Rolex Daytona. Take the difference, invest it in the stock market and let it sit there for a couple of decades.
Oris Aquis Calibre 400 is a great alternative to the Rolex Submariner.

Master control Calendar chronograph
The new Blancpain 50 Fathoms is 42mm. I think you could compare it to the 41mm Sub.
Still super thick though, odd lug size and that weird blancpain plate on the side
Cartier santos medium full yellow gold is currently priced higher than Rolex DD 36mm YG..
Fair point, that’s why I mentioned the Cartier and VC as being slightly over our budget for the category.
AT is the best all around for me
To be the best, you only need the best marketing, not the best product - Hans Wilsdorf
Parmigiani sounds like food! I don't want to wear food!!
What about Rolex sky dweller and its competition?
Yep, this confirms… definitely going for a rolex
Freedom of choice is a beautiful thing!

Rolex wins every pairing comfortably, they obliterate the competition
Rolex was founded by a business man and their heritage is based on lies. I'd take actual achievements from actual watchmakers over the marketing facade of Rolex
To say that the rolex movements are more accurate than the gs spring drive is not correct. It's not the case with the examples I own.
Yeah the spring drives are more accurate than Rolex both in specs and daily wear.

Sorry we don’t have Coke. Is Pepsi okay?
I believe the Oris Aquis is a worthy competitor to the Sub.
A 60m WR watch is for 99.99% of customers functionally the same as a 100m WR watch.
I find Rolex to be over-hyped and they don't really float my boat in anycase. I have a GS and a Santos and IMO they're better and more stylish.
lol RIP Breguet who fell off a cliff in 2020
