Somewhere there's a clip of Colonel Bampfylde challenging Sharpe to a duel and suddenly discovering humility when he finds out WHO he's trying to challenge. [after Sharpe has demanded that Colonel Bampfylde act civilly] Bampfylde: [to Jane] Evening, ma'am. I'm sorry to see you in such company. Sir, as I seem to have given you some offence, I shall be happy to give you satisfaction. Sharpe: Satisfaction? What does that mean? Bampfylde: It means I am calling you out, sir. A duel. Sharpe: Don't be a damn fool, sir. If Wellington catches you duelling, you'll be on the next ship back to England. Bampfylde: Wellington has his code, I have mine. [Sharpe chuckles] What does it take to make you fight me? Perhaps a glass of wine in the face? Harmer, will you act as my second? [Harmer and Captain Frederickson join them] Harmer: Sir. What is your opponent's name? Frederickson: Sharpe. Of the 95th Rifles. Favoured of the Prince of Wales. Harmer: Is that the same Sharpe who shot three Dragoons while saving Wellington's life? The same Sharpe who took the Eagle at Talavera? [Frederickson nods. Bampfylde is nervous. There is a long silence.] de Maquerre: May I intercede? Colonel Bampfylde is new in Spain. Field Marshall Wellington's views on duelling are very strict. Bampfylde: Absolutely. Major Sharpe, may I apologise for any offence I have caused you and the Lady? [Sharpe doesn't answer] de Maquerre: Doesn't do to duel with your new commanding officer. Sharpe: Apology accepted. Sir.
There's another good one in Sharpe's Eagle where Hogan tells one of the Simersons that "Death is the penalty for striking that Officer. That's Sharpe of the 95th, killed three dragons and saved Wellington's life while still a Sergeant."

I bet Captain Frederickson would've had that tooth out in no time with all of the practice he's had. I'm thankful a Baltimore dentist hated the pain he caused his patients and decided to try ether. Seeing a sawbones before anesthesia had to be a terrifying ordeal, even for a tooth.
Cannot think of a member of the 95th that I do not like, they all have distinct personalities, and all are good, decent (relatively) souls, despite their backgrounds. But Cpt. Fredrickson is only behind Sharpe as my absolute favorite. After that, definitely RSM Harper, then Harris.
@@tiberius5245 It was a shame how it fell out between Sharpe and Williamson, the writers could have given Sweet William his bride and maintained the tension between he and Sharpe over say, Williamson's leaving the unit for his marriage, but they didn't.
@@frobbit30 I agree 100%. I thought that was a real dick move of Sharpe, especially after he saved Sharpe at the Tribunal. It really felt a bit out of character for Sharpe.
They way they all look at him after Sharpe says 'We need blood" is too funny. It's not as funny as Harper realizing WHY they're looking at him, though...

Even though I think this is funny, I'm not keen on Harper undermining Sharpe like this, especially to Bumfield who already doesn't like Sharpe. It was out of character for Harper - and over something like a diseased tooth?
"We could be without the cup of tea" is probably the most Irish thing ever spoken
"I have grand teeth ye know... except for that bastard !" Just Beautiful.
Lol.
Wow 9 years ago you wrote that comment. Is my reply a blast from the past.

Whenever I hear "things could be worse." I always remember that line from Young Frankenstein, "It could be raining." and it makes me laugh.
The actor who played Captain Fredickson was in a Frankenstein film. :)
What kind of a human being carries a pincers around in his pocket. I died after hearing that.
Common practice in those days. Most people who need false teeth got them from the dead of the battlefields.
Wernt they called waterloo teeth or something like that.
MrBizteck yes, but only after the battle. Not sure ehatvthey were called before that.
"Goan, Pat!!! Goan!! Git the booger oout!!"
before the winter comes, there is Ritchard Sharp..
love Sean Bean much
surely THE harper moment is when he has "a bit of a barney" with the french cavalry men in the first episode?
Did Sharpe just weaponise a toothache?!?
What more can we expect from that magnificent bastard.

One of my favorite moments is in the book where they all look at Harper to provide the blood, and he screams "No! Holy Mother, no!"

"... Sweet William."
Yeah we did not get to see enough of him. He should have been in more episodes.

That very last one almost seems like an out-take
Even before they're married, Jane countermands Sharpe. This was never going to end well.
Hahahaha oh my I love you Harper
I had a teacher once who would ask to see if you had a wobbly tooth and then rip it out. No one liked her. She was terrifying
A teacher is it ? My Mother was like that.
The thing my dad did was he said he’d pull the tooth out on three then he heaved it right out after one. Best way. Only works once though.

He wanted the brandy and was scared of the removal.
I found it hilarious I can imagine a friend doing something petty like this they all know it's nothing in the end
