Poor Crim being accused of stax when he was just helping the table jam more games with some classic burn. Loved watching the Ojer deck, such a fun commander to have at the table.
Richard has gone mad with power now that they're in paper. He's really committing to his theorycrafting from the podcast - playing combos, playing Armageddon. Love it
I really enjoyed playing against Richard's bird deck (and Phil's Tireless Tracker proxy deck ;) ). He manages to build decks that are both a danger to everyone at the table yet fun and unassuming.
7:10 "this isn't burn because it reminds me of another burn deck." You'd think someone who loves blood moon as much as Seth would know what a stax piece is.
Stax slows down/locks the game so it can take people off their game plan and deploy its own. Fast burn is the exact opposite. You still don’t get to deploy your game plan, but that’s because you died, not anything to do with getting locked or disrupted.
I thought this was going to be an actual rule break. Like crim can play as many doomblades as he wants and richard can play 20 spirited companions lol. I really want this now.
I pointed the Seedborn Muse out to him during the game but thought the Sphinx was a 3-drop because I don't see it as often. Oh well, didn't end up mattering.
Can we get a special episode with the rule “everyone starts with a Panharmonicon emblem”? I would love to see whacky rulesets now that you’re playing in paper.
@@PalPlays Might as well make it a rule that says "Players cant win from combat damage, this includes commander damage" aka tell me that you're playing cEDH without telling me that you are playing cEDH.
@kobisjeruk That no combat damage rule is not at all the same as starting with 10000 life. With 10K life, I would aim to win with combat damage and no infinite combo. Good synergy decks can easily exceed 10K power, by a LOT. My Thromak deck by around turn 7 got over 1 with 40 zeros power. You just need some way to multiply, like doubling effects.
you guys are actually the best group of 4 ive ever seen super funny and interesting new decks every time, everyone knows what theyre doing and i love the 3-2-1 clash on! 😂
I built an Ojer Axonil Brawl deck as soon as the card was spoiled. Roiling Vortex has been the all-star whenever it comes down. It's great to see Crim enjoying the card so much.
I don't know if these decks were especially high powered or if everyone stuck to the theme so much that no one really had much interaction so everyone just sort of goldfished into their thing.
I love Crim but he seems like the type you tell we're doing mill this week and he's gonna put eldrazi or gaeas blessing in his deck to meta game his friends.
I have a Nethroi rat colony deck and I love it! Theres several cards that can only be played in that deck that are useless otherwise. Rememberance gets more rat colonies out of the deck when one dies. And Bloodbond March gets every rat colony out of the grave onto the battlefield whenever anyone plays a rat colony!
It could be interesting to see how functional you could make pauper commander decks. Especially since there are only 12 common legendary creatures, and they're all terrible.
I readed "breaking the card limit" and expected that they were either adding a "no hand size" rule or adding Yorion as companion or running battle of wits
Petition to have the arena emotes printed out on paper attached to popsicle sticks so you can periodically slide them into view from the bottom of your playing area to fully emulate the online experience.
These are the fastest commander games I have ever seen lol. Great video! Gotta say I liked crims deck the most. It reminds me of my nitro deck I built to stop actual stax and pillowfort decks from making every game take 6 hours lol.
*looks at video length*, huh this is a pretty quick game Crim: *plays roiling regrowth into descent into avernus* Oh okay that makes sense Edit: HOLY SHIT IT WAS 3 GAMES NOT ONE
Crim's Ojer deck is so sweet I have a lot of those cards but I never thought I could play the villain. Its got exactly the troll "I'm here for a good time" mentality.
How does Deflecting Swat works on Test of Talents? Isn't Slime Against Humanity the only valid target? Or can you counter Test of Talents with the same Test of Talents once it's already on the stack? Or did you make it target Deflecting Swat which made it fizzle? (by the time Test of Talents resolves, Deflecting Swat is no longer on the stack)
@@jamesdavis5081 And since Deflecting Swat has already resolved by the time Test of Talents try to counter it, it fizzles and you don't get to search the other person's library
Those were some fun games! The Invasion land arts are some the of the best in my opinion and foils are chefs kiss. The editor has some mad skills but I kind of feel like it's being overly edited at times to the point it's a little dizzying/distracting.
@@josephwodarczyk977 don't get me wrong I want way more rules zero games now that they're in paper, but I don't think you can make four distinctive with that gimmick.
What happened to Crim is exactly why I took apart my mono-red burn deck. It never won because everyone killed me first just since they didn't like taking damage from spells/enchantments. (Even though they seemed fine taking damage from each others' creatures and infinite combos.) Red causing irrational rage is a bit flavorful, at least.
idk if anyone else feels this way but this is one of my favorite things to put on in the background and it kind of sucks that they have been getting shorter i like the hour long episodes
The dynamic has changed. Richard, having seen Tomer play combos, has decided that combos are dope, actually, what if his deck just revolved around combos that either end the game one way or another? He either wins, or basically immediately kneecaps himself and doesn't have to care after that. Meanwhile, Crim has decided he's clearly tired of games that last too long, and has thus EMBRACED MAXIMUM VIOLENCE. I assume he has the DOOM 2016 soundtrack playing in the background, the editor just had to cut it out.
Decent into avernus enabling accent from avernus was super flavorful
Lol “decent into avernus” is such a funny typo
@@Crunchatize_Me_Senpai So is "accent from avernus." sounds like an un-card that makes you talk in a funny voice

Crazy take just seems like it shuts everyone out super fast no time to show off the cool decks
Richard has gone mad with power now that they're in paper. He's really committing to his theorycrafting from the podcast - playing combos, playing Armageddon. Love it
goooood yes
I haven't listened to the podcast, what was he theory crafting?
Commanders that resolve and win 🤔 all in. Once in a while is ok, not sure how I feel about it back to back to back though.
@@michaelburt9888 Haha alright, ive def noticed some turbo combo decks but I haven't been following the season that closely :) thanks

3 games in 39 minutes. That's really fast
And this episode was incredibly entertaining.
Yeah normally I would've been disappointed, but we got to see everyone pop off to some degree (and it was hilarious)
I love crim’s “is the stax deck in the room with us right now” remark. He’s hilarious
i know it’s a bit but it would drive me insane lmao
I love every time Crim is on mono-red. This is burn in EDH. Being here for a good time not a long time. Love seeing it

if you think about it, Grizzly Bears is a stax piece because it lowers your life total until you can't play cards anymore
Milling anger was iconic lmao
Edit: I've been convinced to make a burn deck for my playgroup 😈
As a Torbran main from day 1, feel the bern
Richard has caught the Cascade fever.
Cascade and Discover have become some of my favorite mechanics
I thought this was going to be an actual rule break. Like crim can play as many doomblades as he wants and richard can play 20 spirited companions lol. I really want this now.
Same. I was a bit disappointed that no rule breaking was taking place since that's one of the benefits of playing in paper.
I thought they were removing the maximum deck size and making Battle of Wits and Yorion decks.
Same, petition for a non-singleton EDH match of some form!
Crim gave everyone treasures. It's clearly a group hug deck, not a stax deck.
Would it be more group slug?
I LOVE that we got to see both the Descend into Avernus AND the Ascent AND the ascent did come right at the end of the game :D the flavor win
Love that Seth noticed he underpaid for the Seedborn Muse with the Avernus play but then clearly still puts the Sphinx into play. :)
I pointed the Seedborn Muse out to him during the game but thought the Sphinx was a 3-drop because I don't see it as often. Oh well, didn't end up mattering.
Milling a dudes Anger is hilarious
Classic mill problem :D
Mill 1 too...
Poor Seth (probably better known as SaffronOlive), the only one who didn't manage a win.
Hopefully we'll see his Petitioners in Revenge Week!
seth calling burn stax is my personal hell

That spite mill for 1...
Milling an ANGER!! 😂😂😂
I loved when Crim cast all those dragons approach cards across both games. 😂
Absolutely love the transition to playing paper magic on the channel ❤❤❤

That said, Burn is not STAX. You can still do the thing, it will just hurt 😂
