I'm not usually a Commander Clash viewer, but I found myself watching through this whole episode. I really like the change to Spelltable for this season, somehow it makes the battlefield way more readable to me.
Glad you liked it!
That's probably because they are calling the cards and a big one pop on the screen when casted! 😅
Yeah, shoutout to the editor
Spelltable forever please.
As someone who's been watching Commander Clash for a long time, it's actually making it less watchable for me.
Phil getting free Eldrazi twice in a row, First on Cardmarket and now here. He is truly blessed by the Eldritch Gods of Magic.
card market scripts their games lol
I think the best part of the paper games is the edited games are a little shorter and easier to watch in one sitting while still getting the best banter from the crew.
Great game though.
Phil's surprised smile and thumbs up when Crim said he's gonna trust Phil was the highlight for me
Seth playing a no one wins deck over excessive card draw or panharmonicon shenanigans was exactly what I needed this morning. Thanks guys! Awesome episode!
Him then winning with his no-win deck was poetic justice that I wasn't ready for.
@@toolittletoolate Crim killed everyone including himself
I respect Crim for the “mental health counterspell.” Sometimes it is the correct choice
Man the in person play is such a massive improvement its not even funny. One of my biggest issues with some of the older videos was that a good 40ish minutes of them were just waiting for Magic Online to resolve all the triggers, but, with that gone, it's gotten so much better. Liked and clicked the bell.
Absolutely loving the in person play! It’s been easy for me to follow, even though I’m not familiar with all of the cards and such. Great job to the editor and team!
I think they're on video chat, recording four separate videos of their paper game and combining them. Props to the editor, who combined 8 shots in total when you count the video of their faces.
Crim and Richard, father and son, matching playmats
They must have had a 2 for 1 at the toys r us on playmats
Seeing game length 45 minutes: “oh god Phil is gonna combo off isn’t he”
Or Seth succeeds at a draw. Now I'm morbidly curious.
nah just Nekusar things
More just good editing and not waiting for MTGO triggers
Flashing opposition agent into your own humility to chump block another 1/1 is next level
Playing Humility so that your Opposition Agent can enter untapped so that it can flash block despite there being a Thalia Frog out is also next level
I greatly appreciate that, even though Tomer is out this season, CLASH ON STILL LIVES ON!!!!
Holy crap Batman when did you switch to paper? So happy I clicked on this vid and made this discovery! May have to go back and find the switch so I can catch up. Much prefer paper magic to digital. Clash On!
The switch happened last week, the first episode of the current season.
@@davidhansen5067 thank you kind sir
It started last episode!
Dude, the celebration sound for the winner is just perfect :'D
I realized that we can actually get new precon content since the games are paper which I think is pretty sick
Perhaps we can also do Doctor Who upgrades at some point? 👀
i like the in person style this season, particularly all the edits of playercam and card descriptions, since i dont really know any new cards
im finding myself more engaged in the match in general, mtgo would be so rigid with gamepieces and priority id often tune out on complicated games. if this hive mind teferi happened on mtgo i likely wouldve turned off, but the editting for it here was very entertaining
Good content as always. I hope you guys do a stats episode though, they are always my favorite to watch and to go back to and see how your card tastes change over time.
Seconding this
Crim's doubletake at 38:27 is GOLD
38:22 for better comedic timing
I love Phil just actually using a banned card in commander 😂 not just banned at your lgs
Which one?
Coalition Victory@@bondeulv
@@bondeulv Coalition Victory is on the ban list
@@anamedninja5536 If your commander isn't a 5 color creature it's a lot harder to win with coalition victory (but why would you put it in the deck then)
Whoosh and sound effects are a better volume this week. Thanks for the video!
Play a second one if its so short!
Also loved that Seth actually brought a deck that can't win... and won with it... crim and seth team up continues? :p
That was a really fun game! I love seeing these games where salty cards are played but no one gets salty.
I have not watched CC in a long while. Coming back and seeing beautiful cardboard on tabletop instead of clunky MOTO was such a pleasant surprise. Loved it guys
that was the most fascinating episode i've seen you play.
GREAT job by you and your editor.
Personally, I prefer the MTGO setup for Commander Clash. It’s nice having a channel that’s unique in the landscape of countless paper gameplay channels.
Homogenization due to monetary pressure is sad to see
This new season explains why in a normal play group, you cannot strictly count on fog meta to win a game. Most players playing red or black will build their deck in a way that can win outside of combat.
Count on no. But man that was a sick memorable play.
The transition to spell table games has been amazing for Commander Clash. I hope this is something you guys plan to continue doing for the foreseeable future.
Everyone yapping at the same time while a player is taking and explaining actions, is super fun to listen to.
Loving the paper gameplay! Missed triggers are worth the shorter games to me.
I love this visual format. Editing is on point
Great theme, and I really like the editing :) Especially the T Pro fade out
This was, interestingly, some of the better content you guys have posted! It's actually fun watching broken magic rather than jank.
Absolutely love this format of commander clash!
the editing on this is still off the charts! if I can make a suggestion, it would be nice to see the casting costs noted next to the commanders, rather than just the color identity
Love the show, I just miss seeing everyone’s hands. It gave insight on all the bluffing, and internal analysis. Hopefully we get another episode of the team vs others. Thanks for the content!
Much tighter play this week - well done everyone, especially with that boardstate.
Love seeing Phil use the ODY 346 mountain! That's my favorite one.
Something that could be good would be to include the cost of the commander where it’s name is, and also add the commander tax each times it’s cast
Another reminder that Blood Moon is casual in a casual playgroup. Run it my dudes.
I wish more people would play Blood Moon and Back to Basics.
I pretty exclusively play mono-black and I wish that people would do things that help mono-color decks.
Like one time on mtgo I played a game against mono-white, mono-red and a WUBRG deck, the red player jammed bloodmoon and the other three decks just stomped the non_basic.manabase deck.
Imagine doing that to someone running the Jared precon 💀
With all of the mana rocks available nowadays, you are slowed but not completely out of the game. If your deck has no single target permanent spot removal, you should really reconsider your deck building
This was a really fun game! Lots of weird interactions and I loved the deck concepts.
Now I'm gonna be That Guy: Teferi's protection says your life total can't change.
At around 32 minutes, Richard cast Vampiric Tutor after casting Teferi's Protection. If it still worked like the original wording "Pay 2 life, tutor a card" he actually wouldn't be able to cast it at all since Teferi's Pro prevents you from paying life. Luckily oracle texts makes losing the 2 life no longer a cost, so it turns into all upside. Richard should have been able to tutor without losing the 2 life.
If everything is phased out, he shouldn't be able to cast VT. No lands to tap for mana. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something... 🤔
@@lutherturk5375 He floated all his mana before casting TefPro. So he still had the mana for VT in his pool.
@@alexfrank594 Does Rule of Law phase out so he can cast 2 spells then?
@@lutherturk5375 I'm pretty sure that's the case yeah.
1. Float mana
2. Cast and resolve TefPro, rule of law phases out with everything else
3. Cast VT
Vampiric Tutor is lose 2 life, not pay 2. So he can cast it for just 1 mana without losing life since his lifetotal can not change.
You guys should do an episode where you use commanders not available on MTGO, like UB, backgrounds, or commander product stuff
Props for the TPro overlay effect!
Thank you guys. I was happy to see you all get banned and play savoury cards. I really enjoy that you record paper games. I feel that the passing priority on Magic Online is really killing the pace of the game on 4 players.
Thsr past two commander clahses have been awesome. It feels like everyone is having more fun
I LOVE Wars Toll. I used to play it alongside Magus of the Tabernacle and Ghostly Prison, so - if you want to keep your creatures you can't attack, if you want to attack you can't keep your creatures.
I love this! I get that it’s harder to build paper decks but modo is so slow with the priority passes.
What’s your setup with lighting and desk cams?
Phil should include as many cards as possible that flip from the top. First the Cardmarket video and now this. He could probably even beat Crim's blind Counterbalance record.
I think I prefer this over moto. Not only do you avoid the moto crashes and stuff, but moto tends to be slower overall when everyone has to say ok to every play and you see every trigger have to go on the stack. Sure you might make more mistakes but I think that can add to the fun! Keep up the fun content!
only issue is they have a far less diverse card pool since they get all cards on MTGO for free unless they start using proxies
man i wanna play with phil, the man never complains and never bullshits
Great content guys
The red Ojer with Nekuzar is pretty insane, would've loved seeing it on board. Add Pain Magnification with those 2 for extra salt.
Seth's "Clash On" frustration is everything. Glad that he now understands Tomer's struggle.
I saw ThalRog and immediately clicked, then read the title and realized, "Oh dear, it appears I'm being called out."
I built my ThalRog deck in a very fun way though. Lot's of stuff to give my opponents goodies & battles, no other hatebears, and then obviously some landocrats stuff paired with +1/+1 counters for the win condition.
Wait does Esper Sentinel still trigger while you’re T Proed? I did not know this and have been missing card draw in some spots?
Love the switch to paper
The decks I'm afraid to run did their work. I love it
I can confirm, I've never been saltier in Commander than when someone brought a Draw Turbo deck to our LGS's Friday Night Commander tournament just to knock the whole table out of contention and make sure no one got to go on to the finals table. At the Rule 0 discussion, the rest of us decided to play more casual decks, and this guy said, and I quote, "This deck has a few infinite combos, but they don't win the game", without elaborating that the goal was the nuke the whole game turn 4 and end everyone's fun. I lost an immense amount of respect for that person, that day, and I WILL spite target them at any table they bring that deck to, even at the cost of the game for myself.
Nice, finally some gameplay that represents an average day at my LGS.
I love these camera works so much more than playing online :) keep up the good work guys
4:00 I can't even read some of that handwritten list in the right image. Dunno if it's the redditor's white board or the LGS's but whomever it belongs to, freaking print out your banlist in standard, legible type so people can read it without struggling. 😵
Phil is hilarious. Seth and Phil mid-game banter is great.
Run more counters, mulligan to have interaction and a combo piece or tutor in your hand. The deck mulligans really well and can go down to 5 without issues. Is easy to fall on the trap of pursuing a lot of ramp in the deck in your opening hand, while it can be good, remember you want to combo ASAP.
Am i missing something? Wasn't hive mind still out when wheel of misfortune was cast?
It was, maybe we should have explained it better, but basically everyone except Crim picked 0 for all the copies so they wouldn't have to wheel (and die to all of Crim's enchantments). Crim picked 1 for one copy to wheel and then 0 for the rest.
Did rule of law and hive mind phase out? I miss mtgo because rules interactions worked like 99% of the time.
~ Love this!
Whoa! I didn't see the IRL CC coming!!
I love this episode! Hive mind and Humility are some of the most fun cards to me..
... Am i the baddie?
This is one of the best themes ever, it’s so funny
Funnily enough, because of how my group dose our own ban list for Commander, we dont play by the Commander Rules Committee set of Rules
Oh, paper magic AND a reasonable game time. Watching for sure!!
i love this style of playing over moto
I'm not sure if it would've mattered in the long run, but Richard Vamp Tutored after the T Pro. He shouldn't have lost 2 life from the tutor as his life total can't change. Also, you don't take commander damage under Teferi's Protection as you have protection from everything.
are Crims lands not phased out so he doesnt get any avenger of zendikar tokens?
At 29:40 doesnt everyone get to wheel from all the Wheel of Misfortune copies since when you all choose 0, nobody technically choose the lowest number? So the table would take all the damage from the Spitefull Visions and all that?
Each player who didn't choose the lowest number wheels. That means if you choose 0, necessarily the lowest number, you will never wheel.
@@tierfunmtg oh, my bad.... the text still gets me sometimes.😅
Im curious, what made the MTG Goldfish crew change to paper? Was it due to the flexibility of cards and avoiding MOTO problems?
i think they said it mainly had to do with so many cards they want to try not making it to modo
Currently, my LGS has only one banned card: Thassa's Oracle. It was hilarious that the deck that was only there to force a draw ended up winning...
Question, wouldn't the mindslaver stay because it's phased out my teferi's protection or am I missing something?
The Teferi's Protection is cast in response to the activation of Mindslaver targeting Richard. Since sacrificing Mindslaver is part of the cost of activating its ability, it was already in the graveyard when Teferi's protection was cast (and resolved)
@@Niuttuc Rightio, thank. I misremembered it as "Then sacrifice it"
I've never been more excited to see Richard play a deck! MLD is right up his alley (Edit: and mine as well)
Crimothy and the Codfather rocking the same mat.
Can I Get Richard deck list? im trying to make the same deck but it doesnt work
That was a super cool game !!
This is one of the more enjoyable games ive watch in a minute for laughs. Comparable to slivermania 😂
We didn't really get to see Richard's and Seth's deck do anything.
How come we didn't see a game 2 with such a short game? Is recording in real time much more time consuming?
Or are you aiming for shorter run times now?
Love yalls channel and yall are by far my favorite commander group I watch. This was a great game and it was entertaining to see Seth get somewhat “angry” for once at his own spells.
I think Spelltable is nice to shake things up on occasion, but it is not my preferred way of viewing. MTGO it is much easier to distinguish between cards, see where they are placed, and it also allows you see player’s hands. It’s not always intuitive to follow what’s going on in spelltable.
Phil should've tutored for those instants though, Humility doesn't stop things like that iirc.
Does rule of law not stop seth from casting the copied teferi's pro since he can only cast one spell per turn?
Unfortunately I am really not a fan of the spelltable version.
So Spicy, I think I need Pepto! Keep playing these cards so we don't have to.
Richard backing the fog meta!
Love the face cams!
Crim's deck is too sweet this week!
I love salty games lol! My play group has land destruction players, mindslaver players who will recur it from the graveyard with muldrotha, Zacama turbo ramp and Eldrazi enjoyers. I have a mono black deck with both dictate of erebos and grave pact, running creatures like fleshbag marauder and demons disciple. I run a bunch of reanimation to do it every turn so I'm the only person with creatures on the board and top it off with big flying beaters to swing for 10-20 each turn
Richard should not have lost 2 life from vamp tutor, since he was under the effect of Teferi's Protection.
Came here to say this. "Your life total can't change"
because no armagedon was played we still need an episode with land destructions xD
Where is the link of the Nekusar deck?
Lol Seth winning this game was crazy. Richards Teferi's pro backfired hard lol.
Not just that... richards Teferi combined with Phil's hive mind combined with Crim's wheel (combined again with Phil's hive mind). It was a group effort.
Turn 9 Richard should have stayed at 27 for the vamp tutor as he waited for the t pros to resolve with floating mana.
