The origin story of Belphegor is much more sad in which explains his supposed laziness. When the war in Heaven broke out, he was originally a regular angel. @Sundae-l9y well, you have to look at the society back then and the area that the story is written in. It's all just justification for man to treat everything else as beneath him.
Satan was very much an angel on judaic tradition, being tasked to put obstacles on people's lives as a test of faith on god's behalf. Satan means adversary, but he only became an atitesis to god after judaic theology was later influenced to be more manichaeism, probably from zoroastrians or mithraists and things got revisioned, retroactively inserting his character in a new role and interpretation, like how the Garden of Eden's story never once actually mentions him but everybody just assumes that he's the snake
Revelation 12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, *that serpent of old called the Devil and Satan* who decisived the world he was cast to the earth and his angels were cast with him. He's always been the serpent in Eden

So, no one in these comments is familiar with the Book of Enoch. I know it isn't "canon" in the Abrahamic religions, but I still find it quite interesting and can easily see how aspects of it can be incorporated into how believers practice, similarly to the Divine Comedy.
Back before pride and envy were considered to be 2 of the 7 sins, there was melancholy and vanity. Those were represented by Astaroth and Belial respectively. Speaking of melancholy, with the removal of that as part of the sins, for a long time the church said that depression was part of the sin of sloth so ruled by belphegor. They said it’s because depressed people did nothing but wallow in their sadness and sit around. So those of us with chronic depression are lazy to the church, very encouraging and loving, right? 🙄
Melancholy is an addiction to being sad, a masochistic way to be a pessimist. Not the same as depression (which might be of many reasons for examples: be it a lack of Hormons or a bodily reaction to outer circumstances or a reaction to an inner feeling of not really living your destiny. Like the body steps on the brakes to hint it to you that something’s wrong or that you are not on the right path of your souls plan for your life. Or even a bodily reaction to a “curse” or to a demonic presence that wants to steer you into a specific direction or to do a specific action, but the soul says “no” and shuts down; In the hope you might reconnect with your true self by leaning and looking to God and so figure it out by asking in prayers. ) So Melancholy and Depression is not the same. Melancholy is enjoying being sad.
"The Satan" in Hebrew actually means the accuser. Satan gets his name from the book of Job, where he accuses Job of being faithful to God only because he has been blessed with much fortune, and God says he's wrong. Satan makes a bet with God, and is allowed to go and test Job in order to see for himself what God already knows. "Lucifer" means lightbearer, and refers to the same person (as do the phrases "snake" and "beast" in the book of Revelation, also refer to the devil). "Leviathan" as far as I can recall is only ever mentioned in Job and is simply an animal with the characteristics described - like a fire-breathing water dragon. But it's literally just an animal, no ties to hell. Interesring video! Side note - aside from Lucipher and Satan being the same person in the Bible, and Leviathan being a creature mentioned in the book of Job, having nothing to do with any sort of "Prince of hell" status (literally just an animal), none of the other characters are mentioned in the Bible and simply sprang up as myths outside of it. It's fun to learn about different cults and myths from those times, but don't go around expecting your Christian and Jewish friends to know of them and asking what they have against Lilith or if they're aware of Belphegor, because they aren't mentioned in the Bible, hence your friends probably won't have even heard about them. Another thing mentioned in the video, the seven deadly sins, is also an extrabiblical concept and the Bible never says "the seven deadly sins are as such"; they come from hundreds of years after the Biblical cannon was complete, from the writings of a priest who loosely used some concepts from Aristotle. While the concept aligns with the Biblical context of what is a sin and what is not, it sounds really cool but actually isn't in and of itself from the Bible and people tend to go really wild with fantasies about them lol This of course doesn't take away from the quality of the video and the informational value it provides. I'm simply providing the Judeo-Christian context for those of you who may not have read the Bible and are curious. Of course, I disagree with some parts of the video - and am skeptical about how true some things are (not saying the author is lying, or being deceitful, just that some of the information strikes me as incorrect and some things were presented a little to simplistically to give a fully accurate picture and I think some people might get the wrong idea about a couple of the princes mentioned), but I don't want to nitpick and I don't think anybody's going to be going around taking this more seriously than the video presents itself anyway. Cheers!

Technically speaking yes, biblically speaking they are very different and value different things. Essentially the “word of god” has been heavily edited to fit the needs of the European kings and the Catholic Church. So much so that these two depictions barely resemble each other
They're mostly fascinated in the stuff they care about so as long as their goal don't get into eachother they don't care and just chill while listening to Lucifer's order
"Asmodeus' true visage is that of a three headed demon with the heads of a man, a ram, and a bull, riding a dragon and wielding a spear" Is this supposed to make me LESS attracted to him???

That was fun! I have read about them before but it was a fun video. If I were to meet any of them in my life I'd love it if it's King Paimon. I doubt I would be able to keep up with the others.
You're missing that these are not Biblical, but medieval folklore that combined existing mythological tropes with church sanctioned ideas. There is no chapter of the Old Testament that discusses Hell's ruling class. These myths are literal mythology, not canon to any doctrine, though their names and such do stem from ideas in the Bible. Example: "Ye cannot serve both God and Mammon." It's from the KJV translation, but mammon is an old timey word for the world, the physical. The scripture literally means that you cannot be a spiritual servant and do God's work while focused on gaining the things of the world like money and status... yet pop culture across a few centuries has created a demon prince out of an old timey word because it's easier to have a character in a story rather than an intangible idea. If you bother to actually read scripture it is clear that Christ expects you to think before you act, trust Him and not mankind, and to take responsibility for everything you do with an attitude of gratitude and, "How can this be done better next time?" You miss out on that when you choose to just consume some artificial mythology because Hollywood wanted to make named demons for shows. Edited because autocorrect autofailed.
Old testament refers to the first 39 books of the Bible. The most important of them being the genesis, the exodus, and events like the formation of the covenant between God and his chosen people (the Israelites). The New Testament refers to the last 27 books of the Bible and primarily focuses on the life and death of Jesus Christ, the ministry of his apostles, the formation of the new covenant, and it culminates with the book of revelations that details the end times

@Sundae-l9y well, you have to look at the society back then and the area that the story is written in. Women weren't looked at as people, but more as property and less than (and quite frankly, it's still ongoing). It's why Eve was made from Adam's rib and clay because lilith was too powerful being made like Adam, so she was equal to Adam. Eve was made from him, so she was considered his property.

Revelation 12:9
So the great dragon was cast out, *that serpent of old called the Devil and Satan* who decisived the world he was cast to the earth and his angels were cast with him.

Or even a bodily reaction to a “curse” or to a demonic presence that wants to steer you into a specific direction or to do a specific action, but the soul says “no” and shuts down; In the hope you might reconnect with your true self by leaning and looking to God and so figure it out by asking in prayers. )
So Melancholy and Depression is not the same.
While the concept aligns with the Biblical context of what is a sin and what is not, it sounds really cool but actually isn't in and of itself from the Bible and people tend to go really wild with fantasies about them lol
This of course doesn't take away from the quality of the video and the informational value it provides.
Cheers!

0:36 The God of the Old testament and the New testament are the same God
They certainly are not, old testament was spiteful and vengeful, new testament left it all to his kid
Technically speaking yes, biblically speaking they are very different and value different things. Essentially the “word of god” has been heavily edited to fit the needs of the European kings and the Catholic Church. So much so that these two depictions barely resemble each other

In Judaism to my knowledge the leviathan is actually a good animal that isn’t necessarily bad and will be eaten at the coming of the messiah
My question would these demons get along if they were in a room together
Nah, old Lucifer would tell them what to do and they'd obey because he was the reason why they fell
They're mostly fascinated in the stuff they care about so as long as their goal don't get into eachother they don't care and just chill while listening to Lucifer's order

Belphegor - work smarter, not harder!
Satan - verify, verify, verify. It’s always in the details!
This is…wrong? What are we missing here? 🤨
All this just for them to turn into love interests of an Otome game
Stoping the kids for saying first
I think why asmodeous has those three heads is cuz in specific of what angel he was, he was a cherubim
How the hell are there 2 testaments? Did God himself come down to earth and was like: "I ain't say that shit, change that!"?
Old testament refers to the first 39 books of the Bible. The most important of them being the genesis, the exodus, and events like the formation of the covenant between God and his chosen people (the Israelites). The New Testament refers to the last 27 books of the Bible and primarily focuses on the life and death of Jesus Christ, the ministry of his apostles, the formation of the new covenant, and it culminates with the book of revelations that details the end times
