I’ve been practicing a quick, free 7-second brain trick that is backed by NASA research, it really works. I mentioned it on my profile for those who are curious
Kind of arrived to this same conclusion about those cycles and how to use them a couple years ago but never thought there was actual scientific backup for it. I thought I was just justiying my laziness. THANK YOU

You might want to take a look at "the Power of When" by Dr. Breus. The main point is to try to arrange the things that you need to do so that you're not fighting your circadian rhythm. You would still be able to use the utradian rhythm, but it's about apportioning your tasks based on the typical energy and concentration levels across the day.
Need an app for that. Would be cool to get a reminder on a watch (or phone) to take a break when brain is sub-optimal, and then get another reminder when it's back in its optimal state.
After the beginning of your video (this is the first I watch) I guessed you would already be a big channel. Suprised to see your follower count is so low. Happy to see more of your videos and see your channel grow :-) Also I like the analogy you used for the rhytm. First time I heard it explained that way
A secret is to "let the mud settle" according to the Tao Te ching. In other words, learn to observe thoughts and simply be still. Meditation is awesome for this, and mindfulness. The workbook called 30 Days to Reduce Anxiety by Harper Daniels has been helpful.
Yes, but the study was an old one and therefore outdated. DeskTime actually conducted an updated study and then they revised the numbers to 112 minute focus and 26 minute rest. (See the updated literature) Moreover, their studies are retrospective cohorts, which are inferior in value. Ultradian rhythms are from prospective data, which has superior value in terms of evidence of research.
This interaction is what made me decide to press the button. Looking forward to your future content, and also to seeing the high quality comments this community will surely bring. Thanks.
Bruh, I know that 90 minutes is not the be all end all, but that 52-17 min study is so not it. 😅 Although, I would say that for highly fatiguing cognitive work, a 50-60 min bout followed by a 15-20 min break is close to optimal.
How does this align with the bodies need for regular movement? Is 90 minutes sedentary too long for heart longevity and exercise to help the brain think? I like the Pomodoro method as it allows time for short exercise breaks every half hour, which seems to help both with overall focus and how healthy i feel at the end of the day.
Maybe you could do both by having 3 half hour pomos followed by a half hour break (instead of the usual 4). Or maybe 2x 45 minute. I guess it's a question of the value of longer uninterrupted focus vs regular movement breaks.
Great question… so pomodoro seems to be more akin to a framework to study in sessions, but aligning those with your personal ultradian rhythms helps to ensure that when you’re using the Pomo technique, you’re using it when you know you’re more focused. That is to say, ultradian rhythms help to guide you when best to work on your deep, focused work and when to cool off … hence why it’s more natural/sustainable to you.
Yes exercise can be employed during dips in energy/ periods of rest especially since at these periods you’d not typically be as productive. Naps are trickier and can sometimes upset one’s natural circadian rhythms, which in turn affect your nights sleep as well… generally a regular sleep hygiene rhythm that promotes a regular circadian rhythm should theoretically benefit ultradian cycles too. I will however need to look into journal articles on the subject
- 🎶 Ultradian rhythms are natural cycles in the body, running in 90-minute intervals throughout the day. - 🧠 Each individual has unique ultradian rhythms that alternate between productivity periods and rest periods. - 🔄 Observing your daily routines can help you identify your peak energy times and low energy times. - 📈 Scheduling challenging tasks during peak energy states boosts productivity and creativity. - 🌿 Taking breaks in nature or engaging in light activities during rest periods enhances relaxation. - 🧘♂ Mindfulness practices or light exercise during breaks can optimize productivity. - 💡 Aligning work and rest with your ultradian rhythms promotes overall well-being and sustainability. - ⏰ Breaks should be less than 30 minutes to ensure readiness for the next peak energy phase.
Is there a way to manipulate your own ultradian rhythm like through exercises or dietary changes so that you can align your highest energy states with your daily productivity routine, instead of vice versa.
Cool question! Actually, yes, lifestyle changes can be modified to influence it, but it’ll have to be gradual , which eventually may potentially translate into changes in your natural ultradian cycles
I would like to get more info about that. Bcs i have a lot of Question. Howe much is the sleep and the time when you wake up changing the rhythm ? Does Coffin or Alcohol change it ? What is happening if you are in a flow state?
yo ! That's a good video, I'll track this and see if it helps me. I thought this was a big channel, because of the quality. lemme help you with subscriber count :P
Those stupid dings around minute three made me turn off this vid. They’re WAY TOO LOUD, considering how low the volume of your voice is!!! I was wearing earbuds. Last vid of yours I’ll watch, for fear of being blasted again.
I fully agree , sorry about that, the sound design was really off in this one… I’ve corrected it in all future videos after this one. Unfortunately difficult to change it in this one…

Search for some configurable Pomodoro timer, I think it'll do the job

Great video! It was clear and to the point without skimping on quality at all. Solid work!
Thanks so much for all the tips by the way. I started thinking about how I could track my energy for a week before the video even ended lol
Thank you very much! Glad it was useful!
That’s great to hear! 😄 More on the way 🙌🏽
Great work Sujay😊!!! Keep going. Interesting information 💕💕
Thank you very much!😊
Thank you for this knowledge don't stop 💪💯❤️
Thanks so much! 😊 More n the way! 🙌🏽
Will surely try this one out!👍👌
Awesome! Hope it helps! These cycles recently grown in popularity after Andrew Huberman explained it
Pomodoros for downtime. What a great idea.
Thanks!

A DeskTime study found that a 52-minute focus and 17-minute break is the perfect balance. So not the 90 minutes that is advocated here.

@@MedyFlix I know about that study too, but i thought it was an exception since it was during the time of the pandemic. Thanks for the clarification.

Actually have a video in the works related to this! 👌🏽👌🏽 Soon to be released !
Very interesting! 😀 Thanks for sharing!

Thanku very much I really appreciate this vid

Thank you very much! Glad you liked it! 🙌🏽

@@MedyFlix With this technique, office workers would probably still be working 2 hours a day, but actually getting a full day's worth of work done.
