  • This has got to be one of the hardest seasons for our bee's, Poor weather and lack of nectar is taking a toll on hive health with many of our colonies close to starvation.

Blossoms don't form nectar in overcast, it is a fact, it depends on sunshine, no sunshine = no nectar, sure there is a little pollen but it is also effected. Where I am we have had overcast springs for four straight years and it is as though there has been a major weather shift, last year I was forced to feed all summer long, It stinks but that is the nature of things.

Checked mine earlier. Bit windy to go though them, but they are still bringing in plenty of nectar - they just arent capping it currently. All around me, people are feeding.

The long range forecast is worrying low temperatures to the end of the month. I hope the forecast is wrong this time.🐝

It’s nice that your honey’s in demand. I guess that’s the problem with beeing successful 😏

It was never my intention to be a "RUclipsr" the idea was to show our customers the link between our honey and bees and for credibility I guess.
But as we grow we are lucky to have such amazing stockists on board.

You must be lucky to have bramble / blackberries in bloom round here on the Chilterns they are only in bud, plenty of them though.

Where do you buy your sugar and jars?
I'm having to feed 4 of my colonies but 2 of my colonies have 2 full supers and I've had to add more supers.

We usually buy our sugar from Costco and our jars are by the pallet via the Bee farmers.

What bees do you have fella?
I know the Buckfast have eaten everything they've collected. British blacks have 2 or 3 supers on them with considerable weight, Caucasians have built up and are doing ok, italians have eaten everything.

Majority are F1 Buckfast with the odd F2s here and there. They are very hungry one up to size.
