Not even a joke. The two greatest American singer songwriters of all time. On one stage. How's that for talent?
Guess that's because Leonard Cohen is Canadian 🎉
I love Bruce and Billy but Bobby is the greatest American songwriter. 🤷🏻♂️
Just pure KICK ASS and y’all know its true and fine…
Cause you’re in that NY state of mind…🎶
@@WorldwideWyatt I’d disagree but hey that’s why they’re called opinions.
Who could ask for more , the 2 best song writers and singers.....................
The best storytellers. Billy and Bruce... Nobody tells and sings stories about simple people the way they do...
bob dylan
Randy Newman
Are we forgetting Bob Dylan existed here??
@Tom Holtackers elton dont write his song stupid
Class of 85... Grew up on Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen!!! This was Awesome!!!!
I think this is one of Springsteen's finest moments as a vocalist. Not saying that his own stuff isn't great, but he really added something to this performance with his vocal ability. A very fresh take on an old classic.
I hope you've heard the Western Stars album...
yes they both have great vocals
he brings all that was and is the shor
he brings all that was and is the shore
There are few things more boringly predictable in the world of music quite like people who hear an artist they prefer sing a song by another artist and say that the artist they prefer was the bright spot or somehow better.
Typically I can see where they’re coming from with the statement like that, especially when they add in their own bias. But in this case? No. Bruce Springsteen can’t sing anything out of his typical range. But this was all over the place. And they had the echo on his mic turned so far up that anyone could sound good singing this. I’m not trying to be a dick.. But cmon.
These two vocalists are in entirely different categories from each other. Bruce is a fantastic songwriter and performer. I would never take anything away from him. But as a vocalist, he’s not fit to Billy Joel’s shoes
Bruce N Billy Knocked it outta the park as expected
The two GREAT American Songwriters performing together? Yes please. 👏🏻
two greats giving us an unforgettable memory
Ive never been a Bruce fan, Billy is my man! But what a smooth, beautiful duet. Bruce's singing was top notch here. A pleasant surprise!
Bruce is a great singer!
I was surprised at how well Bruce nailed the vocals, his own style without imitating Billy...very nice.
And that’s saying something because when Billy does this song, he’s imitating Ray Charles.
@@thelevisullivan I would disagree here.
Very well said. What a complement.
Why should he be imitating Billy... ??? He is imitating Tony Bennet!!!
Never doubt Da Boss
First time seeing this. This was absolutely awesome. 2 icons together.
Bruce fucking nails the vocals. What a performance by both these legends
Just how amazing is Bruce Springsteen here ?...singing one of Billy Joel's best songs.
Great stuff.
Billy Joel totally outclasses Springsteen by miles and miles. He is operating in a whole different league here. Joel incorporates jazz, blues, gospel, rock, & R&B soul styles effortlesslly & simultaneously.
springsteen and joel? This might be the best duo ever. EVER. Amazing artists.
+Ζωή Π i agree!
+Matthew Edward Hall This live performance just blew me away--'Nuff said.
+Ζωή Π Except that Liberty Devitto should be behind the drums, not Max Weinberg.
Bryan Herber yes, absolutely agreed. but eitherway, the duo was great
+Ζωή Π Billy has ditched so many of his musicians. Lib was with him for 30 years. His original bass player, Doug Stegmeyer actually killed himself in 1995 because he was so depressed that Billy dumped him after he was so loyal to him.
Lovely. Never heard The Boss sing so clear to compete with The Piano Man. GREAT GREAT GREAT
The Boss and the Piano Man, with a double shot of Mark Rivera sax. Oh hell yeah!
This is what happens when the gods come down from Olympus.
we are not worthy
No it's what happens when the ocean turns to shit
They go to New York:)
right on babe
I’ll give Bruce props too. He did a great job on this one.
Amazing! And I love the sax player!
Both still rocking at 74! Great to see
If I am ever down, all I need to do, find a Billy Joel song.
wow, just fuckin amazing
Devlyn DeAugustine Agreed, my brother.
Love that Billy does it in a different key just to suite Bruce's voice
That’s the key Billy normally does the song in nowadays to accommodate his aging voice. He does it in the original key whenever he does it with his daughter Alexa.
wow u go guys .. bruce your a legend .. i love your smile wow
AND David Sanborn on sax? 😳
Wow - absolutely fantastic!
I've never been a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen, but this just shows that he really has an incredible voice.
I love Bruce and yes this song really shows how good his voice is
LaPavoniMac I'm the opposite, love the Boss and just ok on Joel, but they are both legends.
yes indeed
But, one thing can be seen: The Boss is slim an Sporty, and he`s ability to sing is quiet better than Joels.
Joels Voice suffers from the overweight he has.
Bytheway, a slimmer Billy Joel is certainly still a handsome Boy - despite his Age, but the bigger the Richmans Stomach is, the less he has enough Air to sing. The same as Peter Gabriel. See and listen to Peter Gabriel, and you rec that he has Problems to breathe as easily when he was Young. and this is a hard Chaellenge for every "natural" Singer, because they have not the Technique a fat Pavarotti had.
So, don`t misunderstand me hereby, i never would dislike Peter or Bill, but they have an easier live, and it is way more easier for them to perform when they are 10-15kg lighter.
So we can see when the Boss sings here with the Pianoman.
PS: I am Fat by myselve. 180cm tall, and 145kg. I know by heart what this means ;-)
LaPavoniMac I agree, but consider Dylan, a genius by any standard. Voice only adds a nuance...
How can anyone not love this????????
That save when they started to sing over each other, but then instinctively turned it into a call-and-response motif was pure performance genius.
Where?
From @5:45
@@youbigtubership yooo I didn't even notice!
Love it real music😎👍🎸🍺🏄♂️
Wahou!!!! Even if I am french and living in the close south-east of Paris, when I listen to this monument, I feel like a true new-yorker. The fact that I was born on 9/11/71.
God damn when he played those first few chords I would have lost my MIND. What a moment. Thank you for posting this - the internet is good tonight
I just love that they both had so much fun with this.
One of the best duets ever
Bruce, Billy and the E Street Band. Mind blown. Senses very happy. Thanks boys!
And Mark Rivera, the sax player from Billy's band.
Who knew Bruce could sing a Billy Joel song? Actually, I should've known -- because Bruce Springsteen can do anything. ;)
Born to sing
The boss Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Mark Rivera on stage
America has given the world a lot in entertainment.
Two legends of the music. Two songwriter wonderful
5:45 - So professionally done by both of them. Not many people can mess up and on the drop of a hat and solve it like that.
I've listened to this roughly once a week for the last ten years and I never get tired of it.
Paints such a beautiful image with his words
my two favorite artists EVER 😤
Good music! BillyJoel your are Super!!!!!!!!
Fantastic, simply stunning! THAT's the way to express feelings in music! They're both great artists!!!!! Not to forget the saxophone player!
speechless... glad for having born on the same planet as you guys, thanks for everything
Cause, I'm in a New york state mind. Bravo!
Two R&R LEGENDS together!
just...WOW !
It's too difficult to choose favorites between Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen. Great to see both of my favorite artists performing a duet together.
Noticed the sax player here played sax for Billy at Shea during his last concert there. Great player!
wow - first time seeing/hearing this! what an amazing duet!!
This is magic... Clarence we still love and miss you
Royalty!
Dang :D
I'd be honored if some fans of the Nylon Curtain album (often called Billy Joel's finest work) would check out my acoustic piano & vocal cover of ALLENTOWN on my channel in tribute to the Master. Real live acoustic with no editing. Thanks and please pardon the promo.
I'm Bronx born and raised. After 5 years in Florida, I am joyously returning to my home to live. No place like it on earth.
May I have a LOVE button for this, please? Two of my VERY favorites on one stage. ❤
Two very underrated artists, in my opinion.
???????????? What?? ???????????? By whom????
Shahbano Malik 😂😂😂underrated
There are a lot of Billy haters. They're usually creatively bankrupt people though, and know only a few hits.
Are you mental
No matter which drugs you are consuming... take less of them... !!! Joel and Springsteen underrated... !!! You really made my day :-)))
This one gave me chills…the right kind of chills.
Two giants..and I'm practically on my knees and NO it can't get much better than this..heaven. Take me away Chariot..think I'm ready. Lordy yes. This IS a glimpse of what might be behind those Golden Gates. Alright, I get carried away. Whoee
That sax player gets me every time!!!! Sick solo!
Fan of Bruce. Didn't know he could belt it out like that vocally. Puts me in a New York state of mind! Billy too!
Two of my favorites. I haven't heard Bruce sing this well in a long time.
Who’d have believed it? What a couple of brilliant old crooners - excellent stuff!
This is one of the greatest pairings. Both are legends in their field. Both are amazing singers and musicians. And both KICK ASS!
Bruce showing off his crooner chops for the doubters out there. The Boss can sing!
Your damn right he is ! I loveeee it
Just brilliant....and yes Bruce was great on vocals
The Boss and The Piano Man. Nice!
LEGENDS!!!!and thank God!!!I had a chance of going to The Boss´show!!!!AMAZING!!!
I Think Bruce Springsteen looks like the kindest guy i the World.
great duet! great live music!!!
They are great together !!
TWO GODS ON STAGE...👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎹🎼🎹🎶🎵🎶🎹🎼🎹🎶🎤
2:19 wow!!! That was some spectacular singing right there...
I would have peed my pants seeing this live! Honestly.
I lived in NYC 1981-1988. While I LOVE Los Angeles, where i moved in 1988, i do miss NYC...sometimes a lot.
Bruce Springsteen Artist, musician and fellow artist Billy Joel artist, musician and amazing musicians who write, sing, delilver songs, poetry and heart fealt penetetration from the essence of their heart from New York State of Mind....think about what they are thinking about....i am in a New York State of mind....Think...Think... Think...I am in a New York state of mind!
Got to love what The Boss brought to Billy's original handiwork here. This was a genuine treat, something I didn't anticipate discovering when I went searching on this wonderful work.
Thank you, Billy. Thank you, Bruce. Thank you both ... a whole lot.
Two of the greatest songwriters of all time performing a great Billy Joel song superbly..
Amazing rendition wow!
なんなんだ、このカッコよすぎるおっさん達! 最高過ぎる!
ボスの笑顔がまたいいんだなぁー
You know when your soul is touched .
How can you not love this masterpiece?
Just great from the begining to the end; beautiful!!!
They really got me
just does NOT EVER get any better than this. The read deal -- squared.
I really can't understand who criticize this performance. Yes, you can have your own idea but, fuck in hell...How can't you realize that their voices are coming out from their dephts and that this version it seems more "dirty" than others just because is much more "soul" and authentic???!? This is a fuckin orgasm. The saxophone player is a fuckin God. Bruce and Billy ARE..
Being an Italian New Yorker and a Springsteen fan this was like the "Families" had a meeting and differences were pushed aside! Yeah, it was just like that!! Damn..Doesn't get any better than that!! 🎧😎
Brings back the 80s and a New York state of mind😄
@@maryhuhnke8496 Well said!!!
Two of my favorite performers ever, together. Thrilling. Thank you, Bruce. Thank you, Bill.
I was at this show even though i was in the last row of MSG it was a special night. 2 of my 2 favorite singers on stage at once.
Wow - what a Big Song - with two Massive Big Music Power Houses! Just imagine the Energy of that live!!! Must have been seriously awesome. Gives me the tingles all over! Love this!
the boss and the piano man could it get any better?
Daisy : Clarence could be on sax 😟
Love me some billy
only if 'ol blue eyes rose from the grave
Maybe Paul McCartney playing bass, but, that's probably about it for me.
@Tom Holtackers Damn.... that would make even Queen play as viable support group...!
I'm disappointed I can't like this more than once.
I can’t tell you how much I love Bruce
This would be an amazing tour
I Love Both Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen So It’s a Toss Up For Me To Say Who’s The Best Hahahaha!
OMG - this was amazing.
