Hi Dr. Susan, thank you for being a trailblazer in the field of menopause. I’m a Family NP and deliver bioidentical pellet therapy to patients. What is your advice for a perimenopausal woman who wants to avoid OCPs and just get pellets and oral progesterone but also wants to have contraceptive protection and avoid bleeding monthly. Hoping to help my patients achieve all of these goals (no bleeding, constant daily hormone balance (not 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off), and contraception).
Progesterone was prescribed for 10 days only each month for a year . Doctor did not check my levels. It is helping me sleep I just started taking them last week
My doctor is one of those who believes I can’t start on HRT unless it is started within 10 years of menopause. I am 70 and want to know if it is too late to start? How can I arrange a consult with you?
I had 2 pellets, was on 400 mg progesterone but gained 15 lb so I had to stop. Been to a new gyn twice and she has never checked my labs. I'm on divigel, testosterone cream and progesterone pill.
I’m not a medical pro, but 400 mg seems like a lot. I know that at certain times in our lives, we need more progesterone. I’m post menopause and on HRT. I take 125 mg oral progesterone.
How come no one talks about the fact that oral contraceptives essential castrate you. Wouldn't this also crash your testosterone and create an imbalance? Can you make a video covering this.
I think that not clarifying the differences between carbs is detrimental to overall health. All fruits and vegetables are carbs. There are starchy carbs like potatoes, rice, beans, grains etc...and there are sugary and processed carbs like bread, pasta, cake, potato chips, etc...The first is healthy while the second is not. I tried keto and got really sick. While you can stay on it for a while, it can't be a permanent way of eating. Whole Food Plant based eating is a healthy way to eat for the rest of your life.
It’s a permanent way of eating for many, myself included. I was vegetarian then vegan, and got very sick. 14 years keto with 14 months carnivore now. My labs are perfect, my weight is normal, and I have a flat belly and hourglass figure at age 62. Your diet is not for everyone, especially someone who is pre-diabetic.
@@GwenMotoGirl interesting that you should mention diabetes. My husband was diabetic and on metformin for 6 years before he decided to try a whole food, plant based, no oil vegan diet. He was off of his medication after 4 weeks and completely normal blood sugar after 6 weeks. I get that clean eating is not for everyone, but it's been life changing for us.

Thank you both so much! I'm 57 also and know I need hormones. I'm trying to decide who to go to that is as knowledgeable as you.

I was 33, now 52, and I can’t take estrogen because of breast cancer with hormone receptors. I have to actually take anti-hormone meds.
