Have to say I find the whole thing very odd. On the one side, you have the investigations and Moses Farrow exonerating Woody Allen of the allegations (with further accusations by Moses that Mia was in fact the abuser - and quite a monstrous one by the sound of it). And on the other hand, you have three people, Mia, her son Ronan (who happens to be one of the celebrated award-winning journalists who helped take down Harvey Weinstein) and Dylan (the "victim"), who was 7 years old at the time. Which is young, but I would think also old enough to know and remember what really happened to her (or didn't). I know that trauma as well as psychological manipulation can confuse memories. But if she wasn't molested at all, as the doctors who examined her concluded, then has she, Ronan, and Mia been lying this whole time? Or did Mia essentially "brainwash" them into believing it, or convince them that lying was/is justified? For what? Revenge? What is the motive? What about the other children? And does it worry anyone that Ronan is now a famous journalist? Another thing though. I try not to jump to conclusions, but also have to say that Woody Allen's choice of girlfriend (and later wife) amidst the scandal was very odd. Legal, but still odd. Especially considering the nature of the accusations. Surely someone as smart as him would realise that sort of relationship is commonly referred to in western society as "cradle-snatching"?? Regarding the phone call, both Allen and Farrow were recording the conversation. Farrow clearly attempting to get him to say something that would incriminate him, and Allen for his legal protection. He would have been advised by his lawyers not to discuss anything involving the allegation, as is customary, let alone with the person who is alleging the crime. Hundreds of people were linked to Epstein. Maybe thousands. Allen's name makes for salacious headlines, given his legal history. There is nothing more to it than that.

I can also understand the betrayal and anger Mia has toward Woody, but I just don't believe he did anything to their child. I base my opinion on the fact that more than 10 child abuse specialists & psychiatrists that specialize in cases of child abuse had tested her and all came up with the exact same conclusion: the child was coached. Now that Dylan is a grown woman, she is so screwed up mentally that she believes she was molested. That pretty much fits the mold of Mia's household. Have to say I find the whole thing very odd. On the one side, you have the investigations and Moses Farrow exonerating Woody Allen of the allegations (with further accusations by Moses that Mia was in fact the abuser - and quite a monstrous one by the sound of it). And on the other hand, you have three people, Mia, her son Ronan (who happens to be one of the celebrated award-winning journalists who helped take down Harvey Weinstein) and Dylan (the "victim"), who was 7 years old at the time. Which is young, but I would think also old enough to know and remember what really happened to her (or didn't). I know that trauma as well as psychological manipulation can confuse memories. But if she wasn't molested at all, as the doctors who examined her concluded, then has she, Ronan, and Mia been lying this whole time? Or did Mia essentially "brainwash" them into believing it, or convince them that lying was/is justified? For what? Revenge? What is the motive? What about the other children? And does it worry anyone that Ronan is now a famous journalist?
Another thing though. I try not to jump to conclusions, but also have to say that Woody Allen's choice of girlfriend (and later wife) amidst the scandal was very odd. Legal, but still odd. Especially considering the nature of the accusations. Surely someone as smart as him would realise that sort of relationship is commonly referred to in western society as "cradle-snatching"?? I find it so weird that he would even consider having a sexual relationship with the daughter of the woman who publicly accused him of sexually abusing his own daughter.
And now there is apparently evidence linking him to Epstein (?). Which is what brought me here. A lot of right-leaning channels are currently freaking out over it, and Mia's recorded phone call to Woody in which she outright (in a disturbingly emotional and vivid manner) accuses him of molesting Dylan. To his eerie silence. Which makes it "seem" like he's actually guilty. But while disturbing, its not proof of anything in itself in my books, and Mia is/was an actor. And crazy manipulative people exist. Still, I'm left wondering, if it's not true, then why? Why has she, Dylan, and Ronan, maintained such a horrendous lie all this time?
Also, I don't believe that simply being linked to Epstein is proof of any wrong-doing just by itself. But I'm morbidly curious what further investigation into that, and Hollywood in general, will reveal.
At the time of the allegation, Dylan had already been in therapy for her inability to distinguish fantasy from reality. Making her a perfect candidate for memory implanting.
Regarding the phone call, both Allen and Farrow were recording the conversation. Farrow clearly attempting to get him to say something that would incriminate him, and Allen for his legal protection. He would have been advised by his lawyers not to discuss anything involving the allegation, as is customary, let alone with the person who is alleging the crime.
Hundreds of people were linked to Epstein. Maybe thousands. Allen's name makes for salacious headlines, given his legal history. There is nothing more to it than that.

I think it’s fair to be turned off by his relationship with Soon-Yi. It was highly unethical. But they have been together for over 30 years, married for 26, have two daughters who adore them, and were clearly meant for each other, so it’s well past time people got over it.

Nothing to do with the ethical implications. I was a teenager who was in relationships with middle-aged people who took advantage of me, so yes, it feels somewhat personal to me.
I can't argue the merits of the filmmaking as I haven't seen it. I am not fond of Allen as a person. I can separate art from artist in some circumstances. I suppose when I see the film I can decide whether or not I find that possible in this case.

Mia had already dumped Woody as her lover in 1987, that is FOUR YEARS before the relationship with a 21 yo Soon-Yi sprung up. Mia withdrew from the lovers' relationship with Woody when pregnant of Ronan, a child she would later admit is 'possibly not Woody's' but Sinatra's. So Woody did not cheat on a lover, but Mia did. And Soon-Yi did not steal her mother's boyfriend.
